Living in an older house with metal roof as well as radio towers near by wifi is tough and I have to say this worked better than google mesh and was easier to setup. I will say the down side to this for anyone who has been using Netgear routers for the past 10 years is that the interface hasn't changed which is a bummer... I've seen their gaming routers come with other OS but not their Premium routers?

After a long wait for this to come available it was worth the wait. It works for me just how I wanted. Had to go to a total change from internet company to get a better signal and this was the cherry from the cake. I went from 450 500 to 980 some times over 1000. Cant complained.

Absolute best router I've ever had or witnessed. Three levels to my house with the router in the basement. On the second floor I still have 60% of my speed. It also works well for gaming and opening ports automatically. Open NAT automatic.

Comcast told me my old setup (modems, routers) was "no longer supported."
So I upgraded to Gigabit and bought all new hardware, including this router after much research. It is terrible.
I had Comcast come out and check everything to make sure it wasn't a service issue - it was/is not.
The firmware is flawed (cannot resolve DNS frequently), necessitating rebooting to get it to work, sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for a few minutes.
Netgear customer support could not resolve the problem. They told me to return it.
I hadn't gotten around to returning it, and magically, without doing anything, after multiple weeks of intense troubleshooting, it just started working. And it has been for at least a week now.
But now that I have it working and can actually test to see if it covers a whole, "very large house" as advertised. I can conclusively verify it does NOT. I don't even have a very large house - only 2200 sq. ft. on 3 floors. Router is on middle floor. Speed with it 3 feet from me right now is great (except sometimes it's terrible, and that's sporadic), but the speed of the router drops from ~550 Gb/s DL to 30 Gb/s DL when I go to upstairs bedroom. Oh, the speed checker within the app always displays DL 950 UL 42 no matter where I go in the house. It's like it's programmed to tell you that it's fast, even when it's not. Oh, and it tells you that you have 3 bars of connection strength on your phone no matter where you go. Funny though, other apps (i.e. Ring) will tell you when you have low connectivity while the phone proudly displays all 3 bars of WiFi. Even odder, once in the app you can see connected devices, and it will show you which are on 2.4 GHz and which are on 5 GHz, as well as the connection strength of each device. Devices in my home have 2 or 3 bars in the app. On countless occasions the connection strength as displayed on my phone does not match the connection strength within the app (it's more normal for them to not match). Curious. I have to stress, the distance from my router to my bedroom is not a far distance, but that distance absolutely decimates router speed to the point that it is no faster than 4G LTE (yes I test with cellular off). The closer I get to the router, the more the speed increases. So if you plan on only using WiFi withing plug-in cable distance of it, it might work for you. But if you plan on moving around, or going more than 20 feet from it, you'll have performance issues. I am really disappointed because of how much effort I put into choosing this, and it's going back. I can't believe there are so many positive reviews - this makes me think they're fake reviews.
The 24/7 customer support they advertise is a joke, too. You will be on hold for hours. Oh, they will offer you to pay to upgrade to priority customer service if you like. Don't ever expect a phone call to work. Email support works, but is slow, and the tech support is not smart (they could simply not acknowledge that a firmware update caused DNS issues, and after suggesting I minorly tweak some settings, and try power-cycling my router, and it still didn't work, they told me to return). I guess I could do CS for Netgear. All the customers with issues on Netgear's support page know way more about Netgear than any actual paid Netgear support. For a $500 router, I expected a lot more.
Not to mention it is ugly and cumbersome. I don't want to display my router as if having this gives some bragging rights. It's clearly designed to sit alongside a Star Wars collection of figurines; maybe that appeals to some, not to me.
Upsides to this design include the app (remote reboot functionality is nice when you need to reboot multiple times per day), and the fact that I can return it.

Haven't had a single connection issue the day I set it up. I also love how you can manage everything through the app and keep it up to date and manage all devices connected. The range on it covers my whole house from upstairs to down and even from the backyard to the front.

I've been a Netgear Nighthawk for 7+ years and this is the best performing iteration I have ever used, with the caveat at it comes at a premium price. You should only really consider this router is you are truly in need of squeezing out as much performance as possible or are running a lot of smart home devices.
I frequently work from home so I need excellent/consistent performance. I run on average 20-25 devices on my home network at one time so having this paired with gigabit internet (and a Nighthawk router) has been amazing.
I absolutely recommend this router if you need a consistent/high performing network.
Notable details about my use:
- 2 story house (~1100 sq ft) haven't seen any bandwidth issues even at the furthest parts of the house or the front and back yards
- when running on average 20-25 devices at any time, I have not seen any performance issues of any of my devices
- Paired with Nightgear Nighthawk CM1200 router
- ISP: Xfinity gigabit internet (1000 down/ 50 up)

Let me start off by saying holy cow this is fast. My house has about 30+ wireless devices from Alexa to Nest to Xfinity and on my old AC router we were killing the bandwidth. Off the modem I get about 600mbps but when we speed tested the router with everything it would drop us down to 250mbps using a cat 6 LAN cable. Now that speed is awesome don't get me wrong, but if I get 600mbps I want 600mbps.
So I get this new Nighthawk and hook everything up. Took an hour switching everyone over to the new ssid. Speed test on wired 596mbps download/18mbps upload. Not lying. I have almost no lag on the wired connection which is awesome because we PC game and stream everything at 4k. WiFi is nothing to sneeze at either. I want to say we were hitting 450mbps download and 18mbps upload. I have been raving to everyone who cares and they are jealous.
If you have the means splurge and get it. The phone app is pretty cool too. You can kick off a speedtest remotely.
Just do it. You won't be sorry.

Easy to setup and use. I used the mobile app to speed up the setup and product registration process.
The perfect router for 1Gb fiber and able to handle heavy network usage: gaming while streaming, while working, while schooling, etc.! Easily supports the whole family while we work, school, game, and stream all at the same time.
Default settings are great and will do the job for most. Advanced features are easily accessible through the easy to use UI. The only annoying thing is the UI for the admin console. The “Help” menu “opens up” with limited viewing of both the “Help” text and the page controls. All things considered – this is not even an issue.
I haven’t fully explored the advanced features – and there are more than enough to tweak any which way you need whether for gaming or streaming media.
I haven’t heard any network-related complaints from the rest of the family since installing. This router is a winner! Highly recommend.

This router is unbelievably great! I had bought an Asus WIFI 6 router and it had a horrible user interface. Luckily it turned out to have a major bug in the firmware so I was able to return it no charge.
When I fired this on up it was a breeze to set up. But had a major speed issue. fter talking with their tech support I figured out I had a bad ethernet cable and replaced it. Holy smokes! The best I got with my previous router was 150 Mbps. Now I’m getting 235. And not just nearby but in the back yard it’s still 225! Two story 1,700 square foot house. It’s upstairs rigjt in the middle.
The user interface makes it easy to manage, and you can reserve static IP addresses for devices that need it ( in my case a 10gbE NAS and it’s complementary 10 GbE switch).
I can’t recommend it any more highly. This was a very lucky find!

I bought this because I had an older model that couldn’t keep up with the family of four and all our devices. We are often working from a computer and streaming music at the same time (or equivalent) times four people who live there ... this beast really handled it all quite well and delivers on range. It is steep on price but I’d buy it again.

Had this router now for 3-4 weeks. It replaced a Linksys AC1200. Took me a long time researching to get a router with powerful signal, 5GHz+2.4GHz triband AX and above all support UPnP and DLNA, which are not available in all mesh wifi setups. All of the functions work flawlessly, especially UPnP/DLNA. When you place a file or folder, indexes get build immediately. The entire DB (I have ~2.5TB of files and music) builds in less than 30 minutes. Router restart is a bit slow 2+ minutes. Its signal covers a 2400 sqft house, but there is no escape of some blind spots that requires an extender. All in all, I consider this to be the most powerful router in the market now. However, its very expensive. Its handling 25+ devices without an issue. Highly recommend it to anyone seeking the above functions I mentioned.
