I got this and a Nighthawk CM1200 modem to replace the ISP provided modem/router because it dropped internet a few times a day. With this new Netgear modem and router I haven’t had my internet drop at all in the two weeks I’ve had it. On a normal day I have 3 PCs, 3 tablets, 4 phones, 2 TV’s, 3 alexa’s, about 25 smart lights 3 Arlo security cameras and other verminous smart home devices running on it. This router has amazing coverage and distance. On the devices I can test the internet on they are all getting 300mb to 900mb off my Gigablast internet. Those devices are all spreads through out the house and with only a few being close to the router. The three channels this router offers is great for running a large number of devices. I put all the phones and smart home devices on one channel, all the TVs and Tables on another channel, and the computers on the last channel so nothing gets bogged down with multiple devices being used. The Nighthawk app and security service they have also work really well. The app is easy to use and you can control and monitor your network from. With the security system they have, I believe it’s called Armor, I now feel more comfortable letting my family use their computers on the network because the protection they offer does and has blocked malware and other various unwanted unwanted stuff. This is great router in every use I can think of for a router. It offers great speed, supports multi devices with multiple channels, offers amazing protection, and has an easy to use app. If your are looking for a top of the line router that can do all this, the nighthawk AX 6600 is the router for you.

Just installed the RAX70 I purchased at Best Buy, replacing a 5.5 year old Nighthawk R7000 that was getting flaky. I'm about to upgrade our home internet service from Cox 200 to Fios Gigabit and wanted to get a modern router built to handle it. I researched the Orbi 750 and 850-series mesh as well as Asus mesh routers but maybe those need a bit more time to mature. I opted for the new RAX70 standalone router that costs less and has great reviews here on BB and elsewhere. Since I am working from home during this pandemic I can't afford downtime due to router issues - that's why the R7000 had to go. I installed the RAX70 in place of the existing R7000 in an office on the 3rd floor in the center of the 3700 sf home. The installation steps are a single sheet of paper, instructing you to install the Nighthawk app on your phone and follow the setup instructions in the app. Overall it was straightforward to get the new router up and running. The brand new unit did need to download a firmware upgrade during setup. Before starting, you might want to take screen captures of your old router's configuration if you have customized anything. I had set up some static IPs and some port forwarding in the R7000 and needed to refer to the screen caps to do the same in the RAX70. At the completion of the install I took the opportunity to change the SSID from the factory default SSID/Password shown on a sticker on the unit to my existing R7000 SSID. After I did that, almost all of my devices reconnected automatically. I had two Dell laptops that couldn't see the new RAX70 SSID (a single tri-band SSID configured with EasyConnect). After some Googling, I found that Intel had newer drivers for the AC wireless cards which allowed the laptops to see the new router running in AX mode. Netgear activated BitDefender on the router during setup. I am not interested in that since it's subscription-based and I have ESET (highly recommended) on everything. It's not obvious how to disable BitDefender in the Nighthawk app, but you can find out how by Googling. The initial configuration is done using the Nighthawk app on your mobile device. After that you can use the web-based admin GUI at 192.168.1.1 - in fact that's what I used to recreate my static IPs and port forwarding. The RAX70 is tri-band, with a 2.4 band, and two 5.0 bands. Consider them fast, faster and fastest. I have consolidated them into a single SSID using EasyConnect. In the Nighthawk app you can see which band your various devices connect to. My Note 8 and new work laptop and iPhone 11 connected to the fastest 5g2 band and my two Dell AC wireless laptops connected to the other 5g band. The Ring doorbell connected to 2.4 along with some older and/or IoT devices. My oldish Samsung Note 8 phone says it is connected at 585 Mbps and my Dell laptop with an AC card says it has a 650 Mbps connection. Actual Speedtest results max out near my current Cox internet speed of 200 down and 10 up. The range of the new RAX70 seems very good, even from the 3rd floor office - probably not an ideal location. I will do some additional testing before deciding the final placement since I need to pull an ethernet cable from the new Fios ONT to the router location (I am currently using Cox internet which comes up to the office via a Coax into a cable modem). The router itself is more attractive than most gaming-style routers, but it's somewhat large and not easy to hide due to it's shape. I'm not sure it will look good in the living room but it's fine in the office. It's only been a day, but the RAX70 hasn't had any network hiccups like I was starting to experience with my workhorse R7000. I'm hopeful things will remain uneventful.

Using our ISP's WiFi Router We were having a lot of trouble with the WiFi dropping out even when in the same room as the hot spot. Only been two months since I Bought this Nighthawk AX6600 from Netgear, but haven't had any issues at all! Setup was very easy and quick using the App. Speed has been really good everywhere in a 1800 sqft house. (even outside) I have two WiFi 6 devices and that is working great. All the WiFi 5 & 4 devices have seen improvement over the stock ISP router too. Looks cool, although I could care less about it. Works so well my sister bought the same one on my recommendation and she is happy. I bought a smaller Netgear nighthawk for my in-laws . Its working very well for them too. So three for three on the Nighthawk! All working well.

    Best Router Yet!

This router has been really great for me over this past year. Like many other folks, I previously used those cheapo cable company supplied routers that are horrible. So, as you can imagine, when I swapped out the old router for this one, my jaw was on the floor with how fast my internet was. I also had a very powerful signal all over my house (4,500sqft) for the first time ever and my internet speeds have been averaging 894mbps consistently (I have 1Gig internet) since the day I installed it. Setup was a breeze to do and within not even 15-minutes I was rockin and rollin with lightning quick speeds. Lastly, since having purchased this router, I have only reset it twice for firmware updates. So, I am yet to have any glitches, crashes, or issues that would require me manually resetting the router at all. Which, for some folks is probably status quo, but for folks like me coming from cable box routers with nearly daily reboots, this was HUGE! I highly recommend this router to anyone with a home

I have used the same netgear wifi router for 10 years and have been very pleased with this brand and the quality they produce. After 10 years, I think we can all agree that technology has advanced 10 fold and it was time to purchase another wifi router. After much research, I found myself coming full circle, purchasing another Netgear wifi router, specifically the Nighthawk AX6600 Tri-Band Wi-Fi6. I am once again, extremely pleased with the reliability of this router. For those reading this review, I am one of those types of people that review in depth online, go to the store view it in person and finalize my purchases. Then I continue to research on the internet to reinforce I made the right choice. Well, I am confident I made the right choice with this purchase. The speed remains consistent when multiple devices are being used at the same time. At any given time the following may be used in my household at the same time: I stream 3 TV's, 1 Desk Top Computer, 2 Tablets, 2 phones, 1 printer and 4 security cameras. I do not have an extender as this device covers my entire house.

We have had a Nighthawk WI-FI for a long time and figured it was over-time to upgrade for security reasons so we bought the NETGEAR Tri-Band 6 Router and couldn't be more delighted with all the features covered we'd need; and, required to be safer online. And, WOW is this thing fast! Powerful in area covered at home and we fear NOT being "discovered" by a ill-do-er. One of the Best purchases we've made in a long time! Thanks BEST BUY ! We'll be back soon for more upgrades around here.

Solid router but it is a little wider then I thought and it takes to a little space. Good software and easy to setup. Good router if you can utilize the speed but if not then it’s not worth the money. Do speed tests and check for throttle. The range and signal strength is insane as well so that’s a huge plus.

I have worked on many commercial grade and consumer grade network products over the years as part of my profession. I am required to inform people I do work for Best Buy. I do not typically write reviews for anything and this is the first I have posted. So, needless to say, it takes a lot to impress that I would do this. I love this new router. It was easy to set up, so anyone can do it, and the performance impact over my old wifi was immediate. If you have devices that only support 2.4ghz (like some IOT security devices) you will definitely love this router. Using your old SSIDs was easy. I did not need to reprogram all my devices. I have a lot of devices on my home networks and am doing heavy audio/video streaming for work as well. The performance is rock solid. The mobile application to manage the router is nice, but having a laptop version would also be nice as well. I like having that option, but may not matter to most. We will see if it has staying power over the next couple years but so far, it seems worth the cost.

This was a substantial upgrade. I went from a Belkin AC1200 To this Nighthawk AX6600. Night and day difference for my gigabit internet. Speeds are consistent and I have yet to have the router go down. I noticed reliability issues with many reviews, I have experienced none of them. Setup through the app can be tedious but get through it. It is worth it. To address negative reviews regarding signal drop-off with distance, check the band you are using when this happens. 2.4Ghz Has substantial range and maintains speed on the opposite side of my house (router is placed near one exterior wall and still gets great speeds near the opposite exterior wall). 5Ghz is not a long range band and I suspect this is what people are running into.

I got the engineering sample from Netgear Beta some time ago. Before that, I used Netgear Orbi as my home gateway. After receiving RAX70, I have been using RAX70 as my home gateway and EAX20 as wifi extender. It has been running for more than two months. It has always been very stable. There are more than 20 devices directly connected to the RAX70's WiFi, which does not affect the network speed at all. After changing the RAX70 as the main router, it is obvious that the network response speed has become faster.I think this should be the cause of MU-MIMO or OFDMA. The multiple Wifi acceleration technologies and USB3.0 used by RAX70 allow me to synchronize the files on my mobile device to my mobile hard drive very quickly, and the backup speed is really much faster than that of R7000. However, because the RAX70 router does not have the Mesh function, there will still be a bit of signal dead point in some complex house structures (this is also the reason why I have always used Orbi, because Orbi has a route and two satellites connect to a Mesh network, so that the signal can be transmitted. To a further room). But to my surprise, I only used RAX70 and EAX20 to replace Orbi this time. It seems that Netgear has really made a lot of technical improvements in terms of wifi signals.

This router is great and provides good coverage combined with excellent speed. Indoors I stick with the 5g coverage if I'm out in the yard, yes out in the yard I use the 2.4 and I'm still able to stream MLB and other live sports. I use this router heavily- I work from home so I have my work set-up plugged in directly and then I use it to also run a MOCA network for my set-top boxes. It handles all these demands with ease plus a tone of other connected devices. My house is about 1,500 sq. ft. and a basement. If you have a larger home you will def. need an extender.

Best router we’ve ever purchased, hands down! Having three teenage sons that stream games individually, they commented that it’s just as fast playing wirelessly as it would be via ethernet. The other perk is now the wifi signal can reach every part of our 2,000 sqft home and we can finally get rid of the Google mesh network that we’ve tried to route throughout our home. The Nighthawk was super simple to setup and now my husband and I can work from home while our boys game or stream whatever they want. This was a true summer-life saver!

Easy setup, decent enough app, fast speeds, good coverage. Have it setup in a room at the back of my 2400 sq/ft house, and iPhones get reliable wifi signal all the way up front, and outside at the street. I have 25+ devices connected and everything maintains a steady connection. There was an issue at first where the router seemed to have bricked, but it may have been fussing with my ISP's crap modem which did end up being replaced. It came back online after a power cycle or two, and has been steady ever since. Netgear's customer support was beyond worthless during that process, but for most users I doubt you'll need them. expensive, yes. But being prepared for this new wave of wifi6 devices and higher speeds makes it worth it.

Using to bypass my Att fiber modem for wifi use. Picked up over 100mb of speed both down and up over wifi with this router. Plus the range is prefect for a 1600sqft home with solid coverage all around. The wifi 6 and tri band is also great for the tech world we live in. The app is easy to use and setup is a breeze with advanced settings locked behind a ip login. Would recommend if your looking for stability, speed and coverage.
