Disappointing
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed is an understatement. There's some good aspects of this router but overall there's some glaring problems that lower my rating substantially. The good: Easy to set up, fast, and strong signal throughout our home. Looks like a cool space ship. The bad: Smart Connect: a feature which is supposed to simplify your connections by grouping the three bands under one SSID and then sorting your devices to an appropriate band, creates an issue where certain devices can no longer see any bands to connect to except the guest network. I had this happen with two laptops and a robot vacuum. Those devices could connect to the guest network or I could deactivate Smart Connect which allows those devices to see my network, but forces me to sort all the devices in my home manually. Not a huge deal, but with a router at this price point, it should not be an issue. Smart Connect is listed as a feature but it's unusable for me. Lack of parental controls: I wrongfully assumed this router came with all the bells and whistles including built in parental controls. It does not. My mistake for not looking into it closer before purchasing, but again, at this price point it seems like a no-brainer. Lackluster App: The nighthawk app leaves a lot to be desired. Coming from an ASUS router, this app just doesn't give the same control over devices that other apps do. For example, there doesn't seem to be a way to track data usage on each device. You can only see how much data your entire network used. You can toggle internet off or on to specific devices, but you can't set time limits on devices due to no parental controls. There doesn't seem to be robust support for VPN capability built into the router app. In fact, the only thing the app seems like it's good for is trying to push it's security package at you at any chance it can. Most of the security features seem locked behind a paywall ($70/year!) that you only get a 30 day trial for. Overall: The router seems overpriced for the lack of features and buggy features it does have. Security features require a subscription for full use. It will likely serve it's purpose for a household that isn't looking for all the bells and whistles, but there are far cheaper options if that's what you're looking for.

Just a raw power wifi machine!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plenty of raw power to blast through my home which formally had a router and two mesh add-ons from AT&T. While it worked, the Netgear Nighthawk AX600 worked so much better that I dropped the previous mesh network all together and just ran this. My Homekit setup was never able to pick up wifi from my driveway and therefore would be "unavailable" or "updating"... not any more. Easily able to connect and open the garage door. The one drawback... the obligatory and included security software cannot be shut off and tends to be a big of a nagging bother. Otherwise, excellent router.
