Handling 30+ device in a large house for Gigabit

Was having problems reaching the corners of our house (2 story ~4000 sq) and over to a detached garage with the AT&T provided Router (Arris BGW210-700 with Gigabit service). The AT&T Router would usually reach but throughput would be pretty slow at the ends of house and too detached garage (Ring camera's would complain of poor WiFi). Put the Arris into Passthrough mode and disabled its WiFi and installed this Netgear AX8. Getting 5Ghz over to detached garage pretty consistently now and Ring camera's show good connectivity (RSSI in the upper 50s vs 70/80s). We do have upper 30+ devices (4 kids each with Surfaces and iPhones doing school work + Ring/Thermostats/other IoT/etc. plus me working from home plus wife who is teacher who is virtual on Fridays), needless, a lot of devices streaming Microsoft Teams and Zoom (and TikTok/YouTube/FaceTime/etc...).
Couple comments/random thoughts:
* Router is in the center of house in open family room, placement of any device is crucial. If I placed router on one side of house where service comes in, this router would not work and reach detached garage/corner of house.
* I have tried Mesh systems but devices seemed to latch on to node and not move to another (had to toggle WiFi on/off to get it to change to closer node), I prefer single router model.
* SmartConnect seems to work well, can see devices spread across the tri-bands (on main Network)
* I usually put IoT devices on the Guest Network. Guest Network does not do SmartConnect so all devices are on the single 2.4Ghz. You would have to setup a 2nd Guest Network and manually put 5Ghz devices onto it. Every other router I have seen has this capability, wish Netgear would update. Realistically though, only a handful of my IoT devices support 5Ghz but still.
* As others have mentioned, Admin page is a little slow to refresh when making changes. However, I don't know that it is much slower than others out there so not really a negative.
* I have not done much with Static Routes and VPN yet, assuming it works as expected, will be setting up soon. DHCP Reserved works as expected.
* Not using any of the Aggregating functionality / USB Sharing / QoS / Trial Security
* I only have one WiFi 6 device which is crippled by Work software so cannot really comment on it's performance (everything through VPN, not split-tunnel).
* Did I just pay over $300 for a router? Yes, at this point I would say I would do it again assuming it stays stable.
* What is this 90 days of tech support versus 1 year hardware warranty (I have to pay to call to tell them the hardware is broken)?
Regardless, Netgear AX8 seems to be handling without issue (only been a couple days but solid so far). Will update review if router gets glitchy or if I have to reboot it (I had purchased a different branded router but returned it because WAN port would randomly disconnect).

I have a U-shaped house and it ranges through out my 2,500 sf Ft house…even at the pool. This router works perfectly, easy to hook up, the app helps you manage the router. I also have two desktops and a printer wired directly to the router, which allows all laptops tablets and iPads to print by Wi-Fi. I’d buy this one again.

Our last router was 6 yrs old so this one greatly improved our performance and speed. Very easy to install using previous app, and great security features and updates. Very impressive router and recommend to anyone looking for new upgrades to a 2700sf living area single story home.

Excellent router. Our old one could not handle all of our family devices and was having major lag and connection issues and it was only 18 months old. And it was interrupting my wife's work performance at home. I went out and got this one and was amazed buy it's performance after the set up. No lag or connection problems, lightning speed and eveyone online at the same time. I even dedicated one connection to my wife's work connection for her cell phone, laptop and wireless printer.
Pro:
3 dedicated connections, one 2.4g and two 5G all password protected.
Two Guest accounts, one 2.4 and one 5G password protected.
4 Ethernet ports.
Easy and fast setup
App connection and controllable.
CONS:
I have not had any yet. Lets hope it is not like the model I replaced. When it does and updat to the firmware, it resets the router and you have to redo your passwords.

I got this router in hopes of reducing latency when streaming games from my desktop PC to the living room TV (located one floor below and opposite end of the house). Currently using a Google nest wifi mesh network.
While it increased the speeds on devices on the same floor where it was placed, ultimately the wifi couldn't effectively reach the TV which I was hoping to improve the speeds on.
This was used in a ~2k sq ft stacked townhouse, with multiple neighboring wifi routers nearby.
With the exception of the first try (had to force close because the app froze), the setup was much easier than I expected - used the iPhone app.
As much as I liked this router, I ended up returning it since it did not work effectively for my setup.

I have Frontier Fios as part of new home construction and am paying for 1GB up and down. I never realized how bad the isp routers are until I got nearly no signal in the bedroom, which is not that far from the modem. I bought this router, which is super easy to set up, and speeds increased x 10. Blazing. If you’re paying for GB service, you should enjoy the benefits of that speed. Highly recommend the Nighthawk.

This router is great! I have had 3 PS4’s (WiFi) and a PS5 (Ethernet) hooked to it along with phones and have has ZERO issue. I have 1GB fiber optic service FYI for those reviewing before buying. Great product zero lag for gaming and streaming. Full bar connection I’m my entire house and garage. Definitely recommend! Easy parental controls and internet speed test and setting changes all from the app!

Best router i've ever owned. I did disable the Armour software. I replaced a Linksys EA9500 which was good but didnt have wi-fi 6.
This router is very fast and i get great coverage. Consistantly will test out at 11-14ms Ping,22-23Mbps upload and 424.82-464.06Mbps download. Highly recommend. we have about 25-30 devices connected to this router

We've been using this router for over 2 years now without a hiccup. The range is very good, and the features it has are great. We use the parental controls and the VPN. I like using parental controls through the router simply because I don't have to set it up separately on each device. Setting up the VPN required a little bit of a learning curve, but it's convenient being able to connect to our home network when away from home. Once setup, I haven't had any issues connecting.

After having a failure of my old router, I needed a quick fix, so why not upgrade, as well. This is a bit more than I expected and provides more security than any other router I've used. While logical to set up/install, I won't say setup is "easy". It's simple, but procedural. Follow the instructions, and all goes smoothly. My speeds are up, the strength of signal is great throughout the house, without a booster.

This was a huge upgrade from my old router, but it has really good range and I love the 3 channels and how it automatically decides which device should use which channel. I had to do a lot of research on routers and what all the new technology is. I'm happy with my decision and would recommend it to others. My only complaint is it's a little on the large size.

I have had this router for a few weeks. I upgraded my internet speed from 100 mgs to 400 thru charter. Setup was simple. My avg speed is 450 mgs. I have a 1500 sq ft home. My speed in my downstairs man cave hit between 300 and 425 download speed. I should add that my router is setup in my upstairs bedroom. Outside i also get a good range of about 70 feet from my house.

Beast of a router! I upgraded to this from a Netgear X4S AC2600. I "cut the cord" on cable TV and stream everything now. As I have added more and more streaming devices in my home, I began to notice performance issues with the X4S. This router has solved all those issues. The range is great also. I get signal from the opposite side of the house and even in my backyard. Definitely worth the money for the upgrade.

Very fast, reliable and easy to use. This is one of a long list of routers I have own over the past 20 years. The last 3 routers were Nighthawk too. The Nighthawk routers have never let me down and this one is no exception. Works great for gaming and streaming along with net surfing. The range on this is good enough I can connect from my back yard. Highly recommend.

Very fast wifi. (Verizon Fios) No complaints. Works as designed in my 3 level townhome. Signal is very strong all throughout. Easy to configure through the netgear NightHawk app. This WiFi router will automatically switch your more bandwidth hungry devices to its 5G band. Love it !!

I bought this router to upgrade from an old model . The moment I got it up and going , which was really simple, I noticed a difference immediately. I increased internet speed dramatically and was able to run over ten devices with no lag time or buffering. This is an outstanding product and would recommend it to anyone .
