I've been a Netgear routers users for years and with the growing smart devices in my house, I decided to upgrade and purchase the Nighthawk AXE7300. Now, the first week after installing the router, I experienced continues issues (e.g. frequent disconnect, very slow response etc...) I was ready to throw in the towel and moved on to a different brand. My last ditch effort was to install the latest firmware (V1.0.7.62_1) All the issues I was having with router before, has disappeared completely. It has been running trouble free for the last 2 weeks after the update. I recently moved to the 800Mbps plan w/Xfinity and the download speed is more than what I had expected. The router update worked for me, hopefully it will work for all those users who were having a lot of issues with the router like I did.

Easy installation and setup. I notice that you need to turn the router different ways to get better reception at different locations. It seems that the signal is directional and not multi-directional (all around it). The Nighthawlk Netgear app is user friendly. I liked the internet speed test and wifi analytics features. Works great with 3 wifi TV, 3 Nintendo switches, 5 cell phones, 1 Nest thermostat, 6 wifi light switches, and wired 24/7 survelliance securty cameras (7 cameras) connected at the sametime. The security vulnerabilities alerts help you track any suspicious activities. Installed in a 1,200 sq ft home.

The almost complete Wi-Fi 6e router available

The Netgear Nighthawk is a blazing-fast tri-band Wi-Fi router with the only drawback being the sub-par 2.4ghz performance. The signal range is strong basically eliminating dead zones without the need for an additional hub. It’s just right that it looks futuristic for the futuristic next-gen Wi-Fi features that it comes with. It’s pricey but for the most part, it lives up to the expectations.
Some of the standout features of the RAXE290 Nighthawk Router:
Wi-Fi 6e (6Ghz band) with up to 7.3Gbps Speed with coverage up to 2500 sq ft. provided from the 6 built-in high-performance antennas.
Five Gigabit Ports including a 2.5G Port available for even faster Internet Plans
1 Year of Netgear Armor Security for Wi-Fi Internet Security (provides protection from phishing websites, ransomware, brute force attacks, and password-stealing websites).
A design that some might mistake for a Star Ship fighter.
1 USB Type C port for network storage.
Compatible with the Nighthawk App to manage your router even when you’re away from your home.
QR Code to quickly get you connected to the router when setting up for the first time.
Wi-Fi Performance is blazing fast, especially for devices that can connect to the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands. There are 2 ways you can set up your Wi-Fi network. You can name all 3 with the same SSID that way your devices will connect to the best available network, or if you prefer to have some devices connected to a specific network due to factors like the distance from the router, you have the option to give each band a different SSID. The 2.4Ghz band has greater coverage but at an expense of speed, the 5Ghz has slightly worse coverage but much faster speeds and the 6Ghz is the fastest but at the expense of range. 5Ghz band is the sweet spot for most devices. For wireless cameras, the 2.4Ghz band would be best suited. I prefer to just let the device pick the best network available by having the same SSID for all three, even if it means a couple of times connected to the 2.4Ghz band. On a Gigabit Internet Plan, the fastest Wi-Fi speed I’ve achieved was 790 Download/40 Upload (max upload speed provided by my provider). The only con with my setup is that there are times I will be connected to a 2.4Ghz band with speeds fluctuating around 50 up to 100. Usually, a quick disconnect reconnect will get me connected to the 5Ghz band. I do have one device that is Wi-Fi 6e compatible and was able to connect it. Speeds were very fast usually hovering over 500 and up. My only complaint would be that 2.4Ghz performance leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully, Netgear can release a firmware update to improve performance. For wired speeds no complaints at all. On my Ps5 and Series X consoles, I was able to download a full game in under 45mins. When it comes to speed wired is still the king. On Wi-Fi, it did take longer closer to the 1 ½ mark and up. Even if you’re not able to plug into the router directly, as long as your console can connect to the 5Ghz band you should be fine.
Some of the issues I have with the router besides the 2.4Ghz performance is the max number of devices that can be connected at once which is 40. For most this shouldn't be an issue but if you have a couple of wireless cameras and smart speakers throughout the house, you might end up getting a little bit too close to that number. Just make sure your number of devices isn’t more than 40. So far the most I’ve hit is 22 devices.
With the Nighthawk App not only are you able to set up the router but have access to some additional premium parental settings, that are unfortunately locked behind a paid subscription. So if you care about parental controls and don’t want another monthly subscription you might want to reconsider this one. There is a 30-day trial offer. The app does allow you to see the amount devices connected and what kind too. You also have the ability to rename your network. In order to access the advanced settings you will need to login directly to the router from a web browser and use the admin password. The first-time setup will have you create an admin login for the router. Here you can access some additional advanced settings that I highly suggest you familiarized yourself with before you go in there and start adjusting them. I left them alone and so far the default out-of-the-box settings have been working fine for me. Some of the settings in there can greatly impact the range and speed of your WiFi signal. As for first-time setup, the app will walk you through each step. You don’t even have to be looking for the default SSID and password since Netgear provides a QR code for a quick connection. Gone are the days of trying to read the hard-to-see small letters behind the router.
Overall the Netgear Nighthawk router is a beast of a router. Wi-Fi speeds and range are very good. There are a couple of built-in security features to keep you and your family safe online. The setup was quick and easy. It’s not all perfect with parental controls requiring a subscription after the trial period and performance on the 2.4Ghz band. The Netgear Nighthawk router is excellent for those ready to take their Wi-Fi network to the next level.

Netgear nighthawk
Speed speed speed. I cant say enough about the speed.
1. Setup via the app is really fast. I was replacing my older asus main router. It was a breeze less than 15 mins from unboxing to speed testing.
2. It took got a firware update as soon as it connected to the internet which is normal. Took less than 2 mins for that. But that may depend on your isp.
3. Its is very big much bigger than my asus with 4 movable antenna. But i cant believe how fast it was to setup and get going.
4. It has 2 internet ports that can be connected together for 2.5gbs it was pretty cool to see this. I dont use that fast of internet but nice to see it is available.
5. I ran a few network test once uo and running. Wow. Faster than my older wifi 6 asus.
6. For my android the app was easy to download and setup. Its kinda a big size 70mb but it does run smoothly. Netgear has definitely streamlined the use and apps features make it nice to use.
7. The security features are actually pretty good. Parental control to set internet controls.
The one issue is that its a subscription based setup. But you can shutnoff any device connected to the router with a simple pause. But more features are available once you subscribe. But you can still shut the acees down to specific devices but anything further will require the subscription.
Overall its a solid future proof router.
Would highly recommend if you have many devices on your network. With the wifi 6e tri band as more devices come equipped you can be sure more devices will move to the 6ghz band. Less congestion for sure.!

Blazing fast and reliable WiFi

This NETGEAR Nighthawk AXE7300 Wi-Fi router is a powerhouse with 3 bands at 2.4, 5 & 6ghz, 5 Ethernet ports for your connected devices, 6 antennas and a 3.0 USB-C port. First thing I noticed: this is a rather large router with wings (where the antennas are housed). Luckily, I had a place for it. Setup was relatively easy following the included instructions and downloading the Netgear Nighthawk app. There was a hiccup - I couldn't connect to the internet. I ended up calling customer service. It was about 7:30pm Pacific time and surprisingly, I got a live person relatively quickly. My situation actually corrected itself as I briefly waited. But I did learn that this Netgear router comes with only 90 days of tech support! That's crazy. I had a previous router (L***sys) and their customer support told me they were available 24/7 for as long as I own the router! Anyway, resetting the modem and the Nighthawk router resolved the issue. I have not had an issue since then - no drops and so fast!
During setup, I made my network SSID and password the same for each band as it was previously, so it took a little time, but every smart device connected to the nerwork automatically. That made things so quick and easy as I have about 40 smart devices connecting via wifi. You can set up different networks for each band if you like, but I wanted the simplicity of having all of my many devices automatically connect. I was able to easily setup a guest network with a different SSID for visitors.
My downstairs wifi, with my router upstairs, connects at approximately 932 download and 42 upload - that is blazing fast! Previously it was about 113 download and 32 upload. What an amazing improvement!! My ISP provides me with gig internet and I am now getting incredible speed via wifi.
The Nighthawk app is a useful tool for managing the router and network. It can show you how many and which devices are online at any time, you can reboot if necessary or check for updates. You can check on your network and make changes from anywhere
This router comes with 12 months of Netgear Armor which shows the security strength of your network and devices and they provide 12 months of Bitdefender Security if you choose.
I am thrilled with this NETGEAR Nighthawk AXE7300 Wi-Fi router. It is so fast and reliable with everything I need at my fingertips (with the app). I would highly recommend this router to anyone.

Setup was straightforward and easy. Ethernet cord goes from your Modem to your Router. Then download the Nighthawk App on your cellphone and it will walk you through the rest of the process. As we continue to progress in tech, apps are becoming better and better to the point I used to abhor them and now appreciate them. You can do a lot of things through the app. But I still preferred going directly into the device via the computer to make finite changes. Startup/reset time is quick. I didn’t have any issues with setup.
This router is rated for 2500 square feet which just fits my house that is very close to that number. I have near max speeds even on the peripherals of my house. But once I go out into my yard, I lose connection. So, not quite as good as my Mesh Router which is to be expected seeing as that is a multi-unit over a singular one.
For those of you unaware a Mesh Network usually covers more ground (as it has multiple satellites) over a single unit like this router. But they lock you into using a Single Network ID and it will automatically pick which band (2, 4, or 6) the device you are using should be connected to. Along with just generally limiting access for manually control of your network. Where with this one you have the ability to manually set them as multiple network names (one for each band) OR automatically switch, along with more settings that most people don’t touch. Additionally, Mesh Networks come with a single ethernet OUT port compared to the four found here. Making it so you do not need to buy an extension. Which I greatly appreciate. With this being a Wi-Fi 6e device you also have access to both a 1 GB ethernet port along with 2.5 GB ethernet Port which is neat.
As for speeds, both the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands were FAST getting max speeds. But my 2.4 GHz band, even when right next to the router, appears to be very slow and varies wildly. I even switched channels and didn’t see an improvement and live in a house without too many networks around me. But do have a ton of wireless devices connected which may be part of the issue. Seeing as my old network was Mesh and I couldn’t choose my 2.4 GHz band to test so I don’t know the speeds I was getting. But with this one I get about 40 – 50 down average with spikes up to 100, with 15 – 30 up. Compared to 350 down and 30 up on the other bands (meaning this router is obviously overkill for what I pay for). Granted most devices will have 5 GHz making this a non-issue. But there are plenty of legacy devices that only handle 2.4 GHz such as security cameras.
One thing I found myself getting near (surprisingly) is that you can only have 40 devices connected at a time. I’d expect at this price point and with modern tech that the number would be at least 60. But again, shouldn’t be an issue for most users. But what is kind of a neat feature is it comes with ‘Netgear Armor’ that scans each device connected to your network to ensure they are secure. In the Nighthawk App you can also check your overall Wireless Security Score which is a neat feature. Along with it supporting the newest security standards of WPA3.
My previous Netgear Router enabled me to turn off the Router Lights via a button. This does not come with said button. Which is disappointing. As the lights are very bright in a dark room. But the unit and lights are highly attractive. On the back of the device it will show you if you have internet, which bands are active, along with which ethernet ports are being used. Last, you can turn off your wireless network (while keeping internet to your wired devices) by holding the button on the front of the device. Along with a WPS button.
Overall, I much prefer this router over my previous one. As it performs better while adding 6e support. While giving me manual control over which network my devices are on. Speeds, latency, and stability of the network are great. So, really no complaints other than my 2.4 GHz wireless speeds.

Top Notch 6E Router with Over 1Gbs Support !

This router is blazing fast and was a nice step up from an aging D-link router. It's wifi 6E capable and it's easy to immediately see a difference in capable devices. Beyond that, it's internal processing and channeling allow for more throughput to more streaming devices – even if they don't support 6-6E. In our household that can be multiple users playing video in HD at once, Myself trying to move large files around and/or backup jobs running to protect data.
Coverage – This is “rated” for a 2500 square foot home. I know my home's wifi profile well as it's in the 3000's in square footage. With this router downstairs and centrally located, I have no coverage issues at all to the furthest extend / most walls away from this device. You mileage may vary if you live in a large sprawling ranch style home or choose a poor location for the router. This maintains better throughput to devices out in the 70-80% signal range then any other router I have tested.
Smart devices / 2.4GHZ – No problem ! A lot of older and current IOT smart devices use 2.4GHZ for power savings and better wall penetration. All of ours ( of which there are many ) had no issues at all including an attic fan that is located many walls and quite a distance away.
Mobile App and Web interface – The mobile app is polished. Netgear has been in the router and app business for quite awhile and it shows. I had no issue setting up with the app. I was also able to setup and tweak QOS and network settings via the web interface without issue.
Some bonus features
One Internet port supports over 1G providers !
Can be setup for aggregation for Cable modems with dual Gig ports
USB-C port ( Finally ! ) for a backup drive /
STRONG coverage for the 2500 Square foot “rating” !
What I love !
-Supports provider modems greater than 1Gbps !
-BLAZING fast performance under heavy loads
-No antennas to mess with – Just fold up the “wings”
-Looks like a cybernetic manta-ray
What I don't love -
Size – It's Large ! It's heavy !
Style – Will only blend into décor if your style is Gothic-Cyberpunk-Star Wars

The Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band is the wifi upgrade that your house needs. This nighthawk router that offers wifi 6e is a game changer, immediately I noticed a huge increase in speeds for my wifi devices. On my old router that was wifi 6 I was getting about 250-300Mbps, with the Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band on the 5g signal I was getting up to 600Mbps and getting a stable 900Mbps when plugged directly into the router to my PC and PlayStation 5. Setup while it should be easy, I ran into some issues with my modem not releasing the ip address to the router and realized I forgot I needed to rest my modem to factory settings In order for the Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band to get an internet connection. But modem issues asides it is a very easy setup where you download the nighthawk app and just follow the steps on your phone and set everything up from there. It will take about 20-30minutes to set up everything with firmware updates and then having to sync all over your devices to the Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band. The nighthawk app is very well designed and shows you all the devices connected to your network and how much data is actually being used in real time which is nice, especially if you have data caps and can monitor what devices are using too much data. I highly recommend upgrading to this router and make sure you get a good modem to pair with it. tThe Arris surfboard modems in my opinion are the best ones to go along with the Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band. You will not be disappointed in this router and I’m glad I upgraded to it.

Best router out there!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Summary:
I would rate this as the best Wi-Fi 6E router out there! I have nothing bad to say about it (and I tried to find a criticism)! Buy this if you are looking for a fast gaming router that is highly reliable with good coverage and speed.
Unboxing / initial thoughts:
The device comes in a fancy box with a rainbow reflective coating on it, it definitely grabs attention. Inside you will find a quick start guide, the device (with wings folded), power adaptor and a CAT 5e cable. I was surprised it didn't come with a CAT 6 cable since it supports very high network speeds. But 5E will easily give you 1Gbps transfers.
I was pleasantly surprised that the USB 3.0 connection on the back is USB C, most routers are USB A. I was also surprised there was an internet jack for multi-gig 2.5G/1G connections. There is also a separate one for 1G speeds so future proofing is readily available. The back of the unit also has four LAN ports, two of them are available for aggregation if you wish to set that up.
The unit looks cool as if sent back from the future. It has a neat UFO type look but isn’t covered in obvious antennas as those are housed in the fins. There are only two buttons for Wi-Fi enable/disable and WPS.
Setup:
Setup is easily done with the Netgear Nighthawk app on the phone. You can also set it up on your PC but it is designed for an easier setup in the app. After setting your admin password and setting up the wifi, you will be up and running in no time. Just be sure to download any updates and you will likely have to reset your internet modem to establish the connection between the devices.
Use:
I tested my device using Spectrum in California with a 1Gbps download. Speedtest results are posted in the pictures but my best score so far (via internet) was about 1.1Gbps downlink. Of note, you can have the 2.4ghz and 5ghz network combined for smart switching but the 6 ghz network will be kept separate.
A few feet from the router, my 5ghz computer connected at a rate of 1200 Mbps whereas my Pixel 7 Pro which supports Wi-Fi 6E 6 ghz connected at around 1441Mbps on average. My laptop which also supports 6ghz connected at 2402 Mbps even though it should only go up to 1922 Mbps per the router options.
On the top floor of my house I typically get worse wi-fi coverage but in my bedroom download speeds would average around 400 Mbps.
Gaming:
I played A LOT of overwatch with this router and my ping was consistently around 15 ms. I never had any lag during my sessions. I also played a lot of streaming gaming via GeForce Now and Stadia and rarely had any interruptions even a few rooms away.

We were looking for a new wireless router as the lack of control over settings our current Linksys has is not acceptable. I saw that Netgear was coming out with the new Nighthawk AXE7300 WiFi 6 router and had to give it a try.
Unboxing and setting up:
The router arrived nestled and very well protected in a very nicely logoed Netgear box, and along with it were the power adapter, patch cords, and startup guide. There are not antennas to attach to this Nighthawk, all you have to do is unfold the “wings” to the upright position and you are ready to go. There’s a good selection of ports on the back with 4 1gb ethernet ports, 1 1gb and 1 2.5gb ports, 1 USB C port, power switch and reset button.
Now setting up on your network is pretty straight forward and using the app Nighthawk app makes getting it ready pretty simple. I did try to set up the device by using the usual IP address and hooking it up directly to my laptop, but I couldn’t get the setup screens to load properly so I reverted to using the Android app. I prefer going in and setting up a router the first time by going in and manually configuring everything but the app, at least, got me through the initial setup. I then connected wirelessly through our desktop computer and finished doing the setup.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu system is pretty extensive, you can adjust “tweak” just about anything and everything in this router. Our old Linksys would not even let you pick which band to select, and it had very few advanced controls “this was a higher end Pro model”.
I was using WiFi Commander and checking all the neighboring routers to see if I needed to set the channels manually and was surprised the Nighthawk picked the channels with the least traffic for all the bands. The Linksys would keep the channel set to the busiest ones and would never pick a channel with less interference “couldn’t even change it even if we wanted to either”.
The Nighthawk has what they call “Netgear Armor” which is a built-in security suite backed by Bitdefender and includes a premium license that’s good for 50 devices, “wow”, and should be enough to cover all the systems in your home including phones and tablets. The Android app works good and even provides alerts when a new device accesses your system. It also will let you know if any emails are fishing for information without you knowing about it, it all works seamlessly together, and we love it.
There’s a good selection of ports on the back of the router, 4 1gb, and two 1gb and another 2.5gb ports and those two can be set up as your WAN port to connect a modem to “it automatically detected it while setting up too”. The USB C port can be used to attach a drive to so you can have a shared drive across the network and is accessible remotely from anywhere.
Speed wise the Nighthawk for some reason brings up pages faster than the Linksys we were using “and it was a more top end device”, speeds and latency are almost identical between the two, but web pages pop up faster and even our Ring cameras respond a lot faster when accessing them remotely, “we’re both impressed”. Distances are another thing that seem to be better than the Linksys’s we have. We can easily walk across the street and see a decent signal on our phones where the Linksys is just fading out even though it’s rated for a higher square footage, we’re just not seeing it. This router also has WiFi6 but the only device we have is a Samsung S22 Ultra that connects to it. It works great but not many devices use that yet “great for futureproofing though”.
Conclusion:
We really like this new router from Netgear, the Nighthawk AXE7300 is definitely worth grabbing if you want an all-around package that includes an excellent security suite. You also get complete control over all the settings if you want to dig in deep and do a lot of tweaking to the settings, “the Linksys, basically all of them we’ve tried lately barely let you adjust anything”, or you can just use the automated setup and you’ll be good to go. So this is really a great router for both novice and advanced users and should be on the top of your shopping list if you want an excellent router.

Next-Gen Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Performance Router

Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router is the next generation router with ultra-fast blazing speeds and performance. All these are achieved due to its 8 Wi-Fi streams that also greatly reduces interference for smooth gaming and video streaming without much buffering.
Currently have a Netgear ORBI Mesh system that is 5 years old and wanted to replace it with a Wi-Fi 6E and an affordable system that is not too expensive. Have over 95 devices connected to my router at any point of time and wanted a very powerful system that can deliver blazing fast speeds with Wi-Fi 6 technology. I had recently installed an outdoor high performance Wi-Fi Range Extender from Winegard to solve problems with my outdoor smart devices like Flo water detector, Rachio irrigation system and outdoor cameras and wanted to upgrade the main router with fastest Wi-Fi and 6GHZ.
Let’s see if this router can deliver and satisfy my expectations with performance and speeds.
What’s in the box: Router, Power adapter, Ethernet Cable, Quick Start Guide.
Setup and Installation: Setup was easy and is just plug and play. Remove the router from the box and extend the antennas, connect the power & ethernet cable to the modem. Router measures 13.64 x 8.16 x 6.47 inch when unfolded and weighs around 2.23lbs. It’s recommended to turn off your internet modem power off before you install the cables or restart your modem and power on new router.
Router has status LEDs and two buttons on the top panel. Power LED turns solid white when its ready to configure and is solid amber when router is booting up. Also, internet LED will be solid white, 2.4GHZ/5GHZ/6GHZ Wi-Fi LED will be solid white. There are 4 LAN ports and 1 LAN port for multi-Gig internet or 1G internet port. This router supports Ethernet port aggregation. Also, has USB C 3.0port to connect storage device, power on/off button. A reset button is present and will reset to factory settings by pressing and holding for 10 seconds. Router bottom has holes to wall mount but didn’t include the template to install the screws. No hardware or template to wall mount is included. I had to create my own template with painters’ tape to wall mount using M3x 20 mm screws.
Download the Nighthawk app from Appstore (iOS) and followed the onscreen instructions for setup or you can just connect to the default SSID from laptop using the password provided on the device and login to the admin page from browser by entering routerlogin search word or by entering 192.168.1.1 to setup wireless configuration and advanced settings.
I used the browser to setup and to update the firmware before moving on with my advanced setup. Once the firmware was updated, changed all the default password for router and configured all the SSID and password including guest network. Once done, I had to connect my Orbi router and 2 satellites as access points to make use of my old system and to eliminate any dead spots.
App and browser GUI is very similar to Orbi or any netgear router and is very intuitive if you had netgear products. This router is most advanced router with 6E technology allowing to operate on 6GHZ band for fast speeds, wider channels for less congestions.
This Wi-Fi 6E tri-band 8 streams (2x2 – 2.4GHZ, 4x4 – 5GHZ, 2x2 – 6GHZ), MU-MIMMO & OFDMA for simultaneous streaming of data to multiple devices, powerful quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 6 high performance antennas that covers over large area of up to 2700 sqft.
Router comes with a one-year trial subscription to Netgear Armor, a cybersecurity solution powered by Bitdefender that protects the network from hacking, spyware and phishing attacks. I had this security on my old orbi and its very useful. It also comes with a 7-day trial for parental controls where you can block access to specific websites, set schedules based on age of kid and so on.
After few days of usage and testing, I would say this system performs well and getting the desired speed and faster than my older unit with stronger signal coverage for my home
Pros: Easy to setup and manage through mobile app, built in network security utilities, 8 WiFi streams with 6 high performance antennas, blazing speed throughput, multi-gig LAN, USB C 3.0 port for ready share, supports WPA3, VPN support at router.
Cons: Limited parental controls without the subscription, Armor protection subscription after the trial period, no hardware or template to wall mount.
Overall, this next gen router is easy to setup and capable of delivering faster consistent speeds and signal performance. For the price point (now on sale at BestBuy), if you are in the market for an upgrade then this router will not disappoint and will handle multiple devices delivering good speed, performance, and improved range.

If you are in the market for a router with the latest and best technology to handle and manage all your tech toys, look no further than the new NETGEAR Nighthawk AXE7300 Tri-Band 6E router with the latest 6GHz technology able to handle speeds of up to 7.3Gbps which is insanely over five times faster than previous technology. I previously had a mesh system installed in our 3400 square foot two-story house which handled that size space like a champ however peaked at 5GHz. Needless to say, I was excited to try out the latest 6E technology with all my latest devices after hearing from others who recently made the upgrade and switch.
Out of the box, the Nighthawk was very easy to set up, basically plug-and-play, once you plug everything in and connect it through the Nighthawk app. Of course, the first thing I did was to run a Wi-Fi speed test via the app which reported some of the highest speeds I’ve recorded. We have high-speed gigabit internet through our internet service provider and it reported every bit of those speeds which typically is not the case and was a welcome surprise. After changing most of the Wi-Fi settings on our most used devices in our house including our streaming devices and gaming systems, I was even more curious of what the new Nighthawk could handle using the six built-in high-performance antennas going up against near the middle of the house on both stories, mostly not near the outer walls, so going from a mesh network to just one router so far doesn’t seem to adversely affect the performance of any of our devices. However, I will say, the range does not go as far as having the mesh network scattered throughout the house where I could walk around the outside of our house down to the sidewalk and still be able to tap into our Wi-Fi so you’ll have to make that decision depending on your setup.
In regards to the appearance of the router, the Nighthawk literally looks like it could start flapping its wings and take off. It is also quite large and awkwardly wide shaped because of the “wings” which have the antennas inside them. It was somewhat difficult to find a spot that could hide the router while also allowing it breathing room as to not affect the range of its signal. On the front of the router there are two subtle buttons and lights showing the power and signal. There are two yellow internet ports on the back of the router; one for 1G and the other for the higher speed 2.5G multi-gig LAN. Between the two internet ports, there are four 1G ethernet LAN ports to hardline your connection allowing for even better speeds not depending on Wi-Fi. There is a power button, reset button and one USB-C 3.0 port as well.
Having upgraded modems at least once every year or two over the past decade, I have to say this leap from Wi-Fi 5/6 to Wi-Fi 6E was a huge jump in performance and NETGEAR has always set the bar with their high-end Nighthawk routers. You really can’t go wrong with their products and would recommend this one to anyone in the market for a router with the latest technology and highest performance to date.

This Nighthawk router is operating very smooth as of right now. I have noticed very steady speeds and a steady signal. This was a definite upgrade over my previous router with a node combo.
This first thing i liked about this Nighthawk router is the layout of the antennas. There is no assembly right out of the box, all you have to do is unfold the wing antennas and they snap into place. You then download the Netgear app and begin the installation process. It asks you to unplug everything from your modem. You then power on the Nighthawk and connect to it. The app then installs it. My only issue is that the installation failed at least once. I had to exit out and start over. It finally took the installation. Then i renamed the network to my old one and it "finalized" the installation. That froze too. It was a tad frustrating, but then it was finally done and working.
Then my family started to use our internet like normal and the internet just stopped working. I then had to reset the router. It started working again. I thought this was going to be a reoccurring issue but has not done it again since.
I have had steady and reliable speed and signal ever since. No issues. I am seeing my advertised speeds throughout my house. I do recommend.

This bad boy is one beautiful piece of hardware. The Nighthawk AXE7300 allows for a combined 7.3 gbs of data with the three bands (2.4, 5, and 6 mhz) installed. One thing you should know is that that this router is meant for gigabit connections so I highly recommend this if you have 1gb download or more. Its truly amazing how far router tech has come since just a couple of years ago. The router also covers about a 2500 sq. ft range. 2.5gb ethernet included which is a huge plus if you can utilize the full power of the port. Set up with the app was super easy and after a firmware update this thing was ready to go. The router also comes with wifi 6E optimized processor to ensure smooth 8k streaming on all your devices.
The look on this thing is amazing and unique. Literally looks like a x-wing spaceship. Wings come folded but should be unfolded when actually powered for maximum efficiency. It's a little on the bigger size but not annoyingly so and I'd say will fit in most spaces that your previous router held.
TL;DR: This router is insane and will definitely future-proof your house if you're not already there. Buy this if you have gigabit+ internet with a moderate sized house/family.
