    Huge Upgrade

Been almost a month since I've upgraded to this router. Old router which I had for over 5 years was starting to show its age unfortunately and this Nighthawk is putting out so much work on all my devices on the 1st and 2nd floors. No more disconnections and much more range on its wi-fi. I can see this lasting much longer than my previous one.

    Really bad: a warning

I went against my better instincts and bought this router instead of an Asus, but nothing really prepared me for what I saw. Please read before dropping $500. First the good. Wifi7 is insanely fast and the bandwidth on this router is great. The 2 10Gb ports are great as well. Now the bad. It appears the developers of Netgear firmware don't actually understand networking and have basically just hacked this together. After doing some research (probably should have done it before buying) it seems like this is a well known and long running problem. Their routers are riddled with security vulnerabilities and firmware is almost never updated. It's hard to explain everything I saw, but here's a sample. There is no firewall, just something they call "protection engine" that falsely flags and blocks normal local network traffic. No settings, you can only turn it on or off. Dont buy it if you have IoT devices. Speaking of settings, there are almost no settings for anything, no QoS, the logging is unusable, and the configuration options are just bizarre. If you set DNS servers, it will forward it's own local address to clients and act as an unencrypted DNS proxy with no way to change it. With ipv6, it will in some cases completely ignore the DHCP settings and instead forward the external address of the DHCP server to local clients and tell them it's the DNS server. At first it seems like malice, but it's probably just severe incompetence. Important to note, this router will likely give you all kinds of problems with modern stateless routing infrastructure (i.e. if you have gigabit fiber and this is sitting at the network edge). I had to reset my modem at least once per day with the default ipv6 settings because the router was causing it to choke on traffic. I was able to fix it but this is way beyond what most people know how to do. The root problem of all this is the "auto config" doesn't actually follow any proper protocols for determining network configuration, it just does the easiest thing the developers think will get you on the internet and everything else is basically smoke and mirrors.

Small foot print. Fits nice in most places stands upright. Easy set up Wi-Fi coverage is not the same as my older model NETGEAR RAX500. If it's wired direct to TV or PC works great. Returned it tho and going to upgrade later. Maybe with firmware updates will get better Wi-Fi coverage. I have a 2 story home so for a smaller single floor home may work better.

Upgraded my Netgear experience to take advantage of symmetrical fiber-optic speeds. The RS6000 router is a phenomenal device with exceptional speed and dwelling coverage. It was easy to setup, and the web server controls are excellent. I highly recommend the Netgear RS6000.

We had installed an 8-channel surveillance system, but the gigabit router provided by our internet company couldn’t bring up our IP cameras remotely without significant delays. After switching to a Netgear router, we were able to access our cameras remotely with no delay at all—a huge improvement. It was well worth the investment, and Netgear’s tech support was outstanding.

The NETGEAR Nighthawk BE18000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router is excellent — blazing fast speeds and rock-solid reliability. Setup was smooth, though after the initial installation, it did a quick firmware update that required a restart of the process. Thankfully, the app made it easy and fast to complete. Overall, a fantastic router that I can highly recommend.

nstructions were easy to follow. Setup was a breeze. It took longer to connect to the router than the setup of the router. Connecting was easy, I just had 14 devices to connect. After setup, updating firmware was easy but took a few minutes. Had to go through two updates. You will want to do that before connecting devices. Connecting devices to new router was easy. I only had trouble with the Roombas but that was related to how Roombas work than the router. I gave up as it was late at night. The next morning all was good on the Roombas. I like the remote control on my phone. Made it easy to refine the setup and setup a guest network.

Purchased this to use with my new internet service even though the new service provided a router at no cost. Even the installer said this was the one to use. Very easy to set up. Loved the fact I didn't have to set up separate WIFI for 2.4 GHz and 5.0, the router knew what devices used which GHz. Plus I used the same network name and password from the old router and I didn't have to sign in on any device. Added an 8 port switch to the router without any problem. This router, and faster internet speeds, have eliminated buffering on my TV. Coincidentally, my old router stopped working the day I installed this one.

Good wifi7 router with decent range. App is a little lacking to change certain options but you can login to the router directly to access those. WiFi7 range is limited to the same room the router is in, but wifi6 goes throughout my 1500sqft household. You can add another router to expand the range but that’s a little pricey.

This review is for the second NETGEAR Router that I purchased and installed. The first one was a "bear" to set up (19 devices on my network), and when finished I moved the router on my desktop and it turned off and would not turn on again-faulty on/off switch. Returned it and was shipped a replacement the following week. Number two router install went more smoothly and has been functioning very well... it's wicked fast and is performing as designed. The replacement was easy and Kudos to the Best Buy Staff!

Outstanding router. It replaced an older Linksys router that required extenders in the house. The Nighthawk BE18000 covers the entire home without using extenders. It is awesome!!

If you use Xfinity you may be forced to resell your wifi as a Xfinity wifi hotspot. There is a place in the app where you can opt out but mine turned itself on 3 times in a week and I replaced their gateway with this router and the cm3000 modem. This is a fast and reliable and you control your internet and wifi.

The migration from my previous NetGear router was fairly painless. All of my devices transferred over without any problems - except for my printer. The printer is older and it appears to have a compatibility issue between the WPA security routines. The printer was able to wirelessly connect to my previous NetGear router (R9000). But, the printer will NOT connect to the RS600 with wireless security enabled. Other than the printer issue (which is connected through an ethernet port) I have not had any problems with the router.
