I've used Netgear routers/modems for over 10 years now, I just recently bought the new BE18000 Tri-Band model, and unfortunately this unit is not performing as NETGEAR advertises.
I have a 1 Gbps plan with COX, but the highest speeds we're getting on all 3 wireless bands (2.4, 5G & 6G) are between 100 mpbs. to 400 mpbs. Be aware the Nighthawk App you have to download with the device will show you're getting higher speeds (mine shows 900+ mbps), but when running a test directly on www.speedtest.net the results are different.
The wired connection through the ethernet connector is worst at only 100 mbps to 200 mbps, with a terrible latency up to 100+ ms.
My previous model CAX80 was providing a better range and faster speeds. Also keep in mind this unit "Does not come with an integrated modem, which you will have to invest in an additional device".
I've tried multiple times to resolve this issue with NETGEAR, but unfortunately they're giving me all type of excuses to honor their warranty. I hope the next client who invest in an upgrade with this model has better luck than me.
The NETGEAR Nighthawk App when using the Speed Test feature tests your wireless internet speed, whereas speedtest.net tests either the speed between your ISP and Modem or ISP and Router. We recommend ensuring your RS600 is on the most recent firmware v1.0.5.12 which contains a fixed issue that could cause wireless internet speeds to randomly slow down. The firmware and subscription models ruin it

The firmware and associated app are poorly made and obfuscates many of the settings an administrator might want to fine tune. Netgear is 100% all in on monthly subscription services and actively makes it difficult to administer your router without them. My biggest complaint is I seemingly cannot disable Anywhere Access, which allows remote login to your router from the Internet... I *thought* disabled it but every time I use the Nighthawk app it says I'm connected via Anywhere Access and not locally (I can switch to local, but that doesn't give me peace of mind). And I can't even check the status of the setting toggle because its seeming disappeared from the Nighthawk app (and I can't find an associated setting using the web interface). When I use the hamburger menu and tap Settings -> Security the only option available is to enable Netgear Armor (a subscription service) and nothing about Anywhere Access. Netgear has really screwed the pooch. I would not recommend you buy this router.

Brand response from Netgear Support

Hi Mosey,
Thank you for your review and valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are having a difficult experience with the NETGEAR Nighthawk App while connecting to your RS600. The Anywhere Access feature enables you to use the Nighthawk or Orbi app to manage your NETGEAR or Orbi router’s settings from anywhere with your Android or iOS device. Anywhere Access is enabled by default to give you reliable access to your router. For Enabling or Disabling Anywhere Access via the NETGEAR Nighthawk App, please visit the following resource: https://kb.netgear.com/000058239/How-do-I-enable-or-disable-Anywhere-Access-on-my-NETGEAR-Orbi-or-Nighthawk-router.
Edited Response: The issue regarding the Anywhere Access has been addressed and fixed, we recommend updating to the newest version of the NETGEAR Nighthawk App. If you continue to experience any issues, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information and a copy of your review, and we will be happy to help you.

I had a problem with the cord where it plugged into the router was loose and it kept cutting out. I think it cut the amount of power going to the unit and cut the coverage of the wifi to under half of what it said it would cover. I do not know this for sure . I have had other nighthawk routers r7000 for over ten years with no problems . I returned the unit and there was no other nighthawk that was like my old one so I went with another brand. I really like netgear routers I wish there would have been a nighthawk router with the antennas out side the unit I would have got it but, there was not.

Bought this to replace an older Orbi system since it advertises up to 3300 sq ft of coverage. My house is about 2500 and didn't come close to reaching that coverage. Install was not difficult but it did a firmware update during the install process. Went to the family room and signal was "fair" with 1 mbps connection on a Roku Ultra. Decided to contact Netgear tech support which causes more frustration since they use a headset. Difficult to understand the tech since they seem to be in an open area and can hear several conversations. Had me do a manual firmware update since it didn't update to the latest version automatically and assured me that would resolve my issue. It didn't. Had me take off automatic detection for frequency band and it dropped the 2.4 and 5 GHz less than 50' from the router. Expected me to keep the unit while the problem was elevated. So it doesn't work as advertised, can't do any streaming off my Roku and you want me to keep it for further troubleshooting? Couldn't even tell me when someone would get back with me. Needless to say I returned it.
If you decide to repurchase the RS600 or any other NETGEAR product and have any issues, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information, and we will be happy to help you.

Title: Amazing router!
Description: We were having a lot of disconnects from the internet and a lot of dead spots. So I replaced my old router with an RS600. What an amazing router! We use a very data intense electronic medical record and even with 50 connections to the router, the speed was incredibly fast and there were no dead spots. No more disconnects! The staff is extremely happy! In addition, we had a recent power outage and when they generator went back on, the router, reset itself within one minute. Couldn't be happier with this router!

First Impressions and Setup: Looks Cool, Sets Up Easy When I unboxed it, I was like, “Whoa, this thing is sleek!” It’s this tall, black tower that doesn’t scream “router” and fits right on my bookshelf. No goofy antennas sticking out everywhere, which is a win for my living room aesthetic. The power adapter’s nice and compact too—no giant brick taking up space.

Went to best buy with no knowledge of what I needed. The guy that I grabbed jumped right in with everything he understood. I told him the service we were paying for and our house layout and went straight to the Nighthawk. Boy was he right, the set up was easy and it produces better speeds and connection than I expected. I really loved how easy the set up was. The router looks pretty cool too.

Description: Having used this router for a week with no problems and ~16 devices, I can say this is a pretty good router.
Setup via the app failed partway through the first attempt, and the directions are relatively unclear. Thankfully the 2nd attempt worked. The app needs improvements.
