Worst Nighthawk I’ve Owned

They have always been my go-to routers. When WiFi 7 came out, I went with an Eero 7 Max initially because of availability at the time. Once a local BestBuy had this one in stock though, I made the jump instantly back to my beloved NightHawk line. Boy was that a mistake. In the week I’ve had it, the 2.4ghz band has completely gone offline 6 times, with each requiring a full reboot to bring it back up until it decides to go down again. While everything else is as awesome as normal and exceeds the Eero 7 hands down, I’m not playing daily router restart. Support though is what made it clear this was going back, instead of an exchange. I originally thought I just had a dud, but getting told by the rep he had fielded dozens of the same issue on the same router this week, made it clear it isn’t an isolated issue.

Wanted to love it, but ended up returning it

Now with that being said, my issue is with the 6e band. My s9 tab ultra works flawlessly with it, BUT my s23, S23 ultra and Z flip5 do not work on the 6e band. After 20 mins they signal drops and then auto reconnects to the band. This cycle repeats itself. I tried to static the phones and still same issue. I have no issues with my RAXE500 and my phones on the 6e band. For the price of the new RS700 and to have all my phones not work on 6e band, i had no choice but to return it. Now ill wait for next year and hope they fix this issue.

Netgear wifi 7 review

Nice to have wifi 7, but I have trouble with it working consistently. Not sure if it is firmware bugs or just my setup. It drops a lot and I have always been a netgear nighthawk fan and I have had nothing but trouble out of this router. If you have a bigger place, I would recommend sticking with a mesh system. Also, most devices are not wifi 7 yet, so only wifi 6e and newer devices will be able to utilize the 6g band…so if you have older devices it is a waste of money. Hope this helps someone!

Disappointed long tome Netgear customer

I read all the reviews an thought this was our answer to our router upgrade. I tried for 10 days relocating, adjusting an ended up returning it at the end. Now im on the hunt for a replacement again.

Great......When it works.

Owned for 10 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great when it's working at full capacity but every week, the 5G signal drops completely and requires a restart. 2.4G is not fast enough for the number of devices in my home. Chatting with Best Buy and the recommended I trade it in and get a new one. No thanks. All they will do is undercut me and resell it as used in excellent condition for a near retail price and sucker someone else. I'll be purchasing another brand elsewhere and selling this one off.

Do Not Buy!

The problem is with Armor security and dropping signal, it fails to work and IT can't figure it out. I ask to cancel the Amor security and know one seems to know how to and you can't do it on the app. The app is terrible. I paid over $700 for it and should not have to deal with these problems. Even when you reboot nothing happens. Wish i can bring it back!

Disconnected/disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a BIG TIME issue with this product so I am going down the next one BE18000 hopefully it won't keep disconnecting me. Would have been a nice router but kept disconnecting every few minutes, even after DNS changing and channel changes, nothing worked and of course it was over the 15 day return, so I was sunk!

2.4 GHz antenna died in less than a year

I tried power cycling the network, reinstalling the firmware to make sure it hadn't been corrupted,and a factory reset. Nothing resolved the issue, so I can only assume the antenna is dead since the router still thinks it's on and says the 2.4 GHz wireless AP is accessible. And of course this happens after my phone, chat, and online support options have expired. I've never had an issue with Netgear products until now, but I was definitely not expecting this to happen with a $600-$700 flagship router.

not as advertised in my opinion

Found out last week that 30' thru the walls was as far as I could walk before it dropped wifi. Bought another to use as an access point since it is advertised with that feature. Spent 3 hours with Netgear Tech support and 3 calls with hold times, to find out that the RS700 will not pass off wi-fi, it simply creates another wifi network sharing the same Internet and IP range. Meaning that your wifi drops out so you have to disconnect and then reconnect to the RS700 closest to you then when you walk back you have to do it in reverse. I would not buy again unless the fix the firmware to do as advertised.

Overpriced piece of trash which I am returning and going back to my older Netgear router.

Works great and then not

Its randomly dropping 1-3 a signal times a day. My 5 year ASUS backup still wors flawlessly.

Netgear Night crap

I have gigabit service in my home. Fully wired cat5e. Had an Asus RT-AX82U that would constantly slow to 1/4 of my 1 gig speeds over wifi. Purchased a second to try mesh. That didnt last long, constantly having to mess with it. Got so fed up threw them both in tge trash. Purchased this netgear nightawk due to 4.8 star rating. Have iphone 15 PRO max and Asus wi-Wi 7 motherboard so wanted to try out the new standard. The Asus $150 router gets better speeds. After messing with this junk for going on 5 hours i put it back in the box. Its going back tomorrow. For $700 it should just work straight out of tge box, notnonly should it jist work it should cook me dinner. I can pick up 4 cheaper mesh inits md still have enough left for dinner. Only a 2000 sq / foot wood frame house, no brick. Guess I got a dud. 1 star from me. No more netfear for me, ever.
