So I've always wanted a Nighthawk, and I wish I would have done it sooner. Let's start with the hardware. The build quality is like most things in this category, plastic and more plastic. That is not a bad thing, because most are built very well, and this one is the same. It feels strong, and well made. Has a little bit of weight to it, but not heavy. Buttons, well there is only one on the back. It's the power button. So nice and simple. The setup. It was easy, but I still that companies need to make it easier for those that do not have a smartphone. Now with that said, I do like how easy it is to setup with a phone or tablet using an app. It was a quick signin for me, because I already had an account with Netgear. However, if you do not, just create one. It's quick and easy. The application. Very simple and easy to understand after you have it setup, and you will find everything you need at your fingertips. Speeds. I'm getting ALL of my speeds by provider, 940/1GB up and 1GB down (see screen shot in photos). Your speeds will depend on what you are paying for with your internet provider. So overall, I'm super happy with my new router.

If you ask yourself if I need WiFi 7, the answer is probably no. Not yet, but you will. Like WiFi 6 and 6e, this will become the standard quickly as it offers impressive bandwidth. All that is to say, it is fast and stable, more devices can connect to it, and it has a better range. The only downside is that you will be an early adopter, so few items take full advantage of WiFi7, but that is starting to change. This Router also has the other bands, and unlike other routers I have owned, I have had zero problems with my devices connecting to the band they need/use. I replaced an ASUS WiFi 6 router with this, and my downloads went from 750 Mbps down and 35 Mbps up to 1156 Mbps down and 41 Mbps Up. The NETGEAR Nighthawk BE19000 is an excellent product if you are willing to brave the early adopter's growing pains.

NETGEAR Nighthawk WiFI 7 - "The Monolith"

This is a great router. Super easy to set up and works great. I do not have any devices that I can run WiFi 7 on but I am running 6e on a few devices with great success. This router is in a 3000 sq ft house and I have it centrally located. No issues getting connectivity to the whole house. I have 7 phones, 3 tablets, 2 computers, 2 smart tvs, garage door, 2 security cameras all connected to it with no issues. I know that I am not using the WiFi 7 features currently so I may have overpaid for it but I felt that I might as well future proof it. I like the design because it is not flat taking up a lot of room. It has that monolith look. I believe that NETGEAR took a lot of time designing this and appreciate that it is not only a great product but it is also functional in space.

Wifi 7 awesomeness, my mesh system becomes useless

First thing first, this is a wifi 7 capable router. If you got a gigabit internet connection and ever wondering why you can’t pull that gigabit level of speed wirelessly from your fiber network, this is the answer. I setup the router properly and with my ISP I’m getting about 1000 MBPS for both download and upload, which practically is the max speed of my internet connection subscription tier. The theoretical max speed is 19000 MBPS. Not only about speed, wifi 7 maintains excellent low latency so this is good news for kids who like to play online games and can’t stand the lag. Setting up the router is easy as all you need to do is to download the Nighthawk app to your phone. The instructions are clear and quite simple to follow. Wifi 7 is backward compatible and so far, I don’t really have compatibility problems. I’m happy to note that signal strength for a medium size, two-story home is strong enough. I got a mesh system but so far don’t need to have it installed unless if I want very strong coverage of network up to where my detached garage is located. The wifi range is rated at 3500 square feet. The Nighthawk app is very useful and it is excellent; however, it requires some paid subscription for its advanced features such as the smart parental control. The router comes with a free Netgear Armor subscription for a year, which also gives you free Bitdefender Security app installation for 8 devices. The Armor detects and blocks cyber threats including viruses and you can check the stats in the app. It would be great if all these services come standard and do not require subscription. In case you want to connect a computer to the router directly, the router has spare LAN port for that purpose. This router has rendered my mesh system practically obsolete.

    Hefty Price, Future Proof Router

The RS700S, also known as the BE19000, is a router that aims to be as future-proof as possible. Here are the key points: WiFi 7 (BE19000): The RS700S supports the latest WiFi 7 standard, which is still rare in routers. While you might not fully utilize it yet, having this future-proof capability is impressive. Impressive Ports: It features both a 10 Gig WAN and LAN port, ensuring you get maximum speed. The USB port is 3.0, and the other 4 LAN ports are 1 Gbps, allowing for fast connections and aggregation of multiple sources. App Control: The dedicated app provides plenty of customization options for network setup. However, be prepared for reminders about subscriptions and other offerings that can be annoying. Enthusiast-Level Price: At a hefty $700 price tag, the RS700S is definitely for enthusiasts. While it outperforms many routers, there are WiFi 6E alternatives with similar performance and more compatible devices. In summary, the Netgear Nighthawk RS700S is an excellent choice if you’re looking for future-proofing and top-notch performance, but it comes at a premium price.

    Disappointing signal strength/range

    * The Netgear Nighthawk BE19000 tri-band router failed to deliver on the marketing hype with disappointing signal strength and underwhelming range. * Within a very limited range, the router delivered strong up/download speeds. * The system is expensive since only a tiny fraction of devices can take advantage of wifi 7 connectivity and speeds, so it really needed to deliver on all the other marketing promises including reduced interference and “impossibly fast” up/downloads throughout the house. We purchased the Netgear Nighthawk BE19000 as an upgrade to a six-year-old Orbi mesh network series 6 that finally died after several years of faithful service. We connect the Nighthawk router to an Xfinity XB-8 gateway, which we bridge to act as just a modem. Both the Orbi series 6 and the XB-8 are fully capable of providing full coverage across our three-story home. We were excited to take advantage of the latest technology with the Nighthawk, particularly given the much broader coverage, “consistent 10 gig” speed and strong connectivity promised on Netgear’s website. Unfortunately, the real device failed to deliver on those promises and, after several days of use, we reluctantly returned the system to BestBuy. Our home is three stories high and 4,500 square feet — just outside the promised range of the Nighthawk, which is supposed to cover multiple floors and up to 4,000 sq. ft. The router set-up was super simple using the Nighthawk iOS app, which walked you through the process of powering down your existing modem/router, then initiating the new system. It also installed a firmware update and then kicked off the Netgear Armor security system. Please note Netgear charges $100 a year for this all-system anti-virus after the first year; other manufacturers offer similar security systems for free for the life of their systems. Netgear’s tech support only lasts for three months. The router, which was ethernet-cabled to my MBP, delivered 857 mbps down and 39 up. One floor up, the router delivered a less-than-stellar but acceptable 68 mbps down and 12 up. I used my laptop and some software to find the best spots for coverage, but the signal didn’t improve much beyond that initial reading. Unfortunately, the router produced no signal for our backyard Ring camera, which is 15 feet and one exterior wall away. Similarly, there was zero signal on the third floor, in spite of Netgear’s promise of “360 degree coverage.” For comparison, our Orbi series 6 and the Xfinity XB-8 gateway have no problem delivering sufficient signal strength to all three floors and several Ring devices which are positioned all over the outside of our house. I used a similar process on the third floor, using my laptop to search for a signal. In the hallway, I was able to get a signal of 64 mbps down and 8 up. This was on the 2.4GHz band, which typically allows for signals over greater distances and works well for IoT devices like thermostats and older Ring devices. I didn’t experience any signal drops or connectivity issues in those areas where I could get a signal. That said, I need the router to push a signal to the external Ring devices, so it was a bit disappointing that it couldn’t even reach the nearest one, which was just 15 feet away. I admit that my intended purpose doesn’t align exactly with the design of this router, which is aimed at gamers who are likely in the same room. It’s not a mesh system, so it makes sense that it couldn’t send a strong signal up to the third floor. That said, the signal strength dropped off meaningfully even on the same floor down the hall in another room where I have a couple of gaming consoles. I didn’t experience the “Best. Gaming. Ever.,” nor did I experience enough signal strength to deliver “pristine 8K visuals.” Long-story short, we’ll stick with Xfinity’s XB-8 for right now. I understand Xfinity’s coming out with the XB-10 later this year, which will also offer wifi 7 and DOCSIS 4.0. We will wait for that instead of using the Nighthawk.

A Standout Choice for Your Next Router

Prior to me getting the Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi 7 Tri-Band Router, I was leasing a router from my local cable company. Prior to that, I had a mesh wi-fi system that I had problems with for months. The child nodes would drop the connection to the parent node constantly and I got tired of resetting them all the time. The problem with the cable company’s router was that it wasn’t very fast. It was supposed to be but wasn’t. So, I was looking forward to seeing what the Nighthawk would bring to the table. My house is roughly 2400 square feet, with a basement and two floors of living space. I have over 30 devices that use the internet in some form or capacity. Set up was a breeze. There’s a quick set up guide included. You download the Netgear Nighthawk app and follow the instructions. That’s it. I didn’t even know that Wi-Fi 7 was a thing until I received this router. The biggest pain is to set up all your devices up on the new network, but that would be the case with any new router. The app is great. Easy to use. When you add each device to your network, the Nighthawk will scan the device to look to see if it’s “safe” using something called “Netgear Armor”. It’s already blocked several malware attempts on the network that I’ve never seen my previous routers do (or at least, I wasn’t notified). The Nighthawk will send you a push notification on your phone for each attack it blocks. It also comes with Bitdefender that you can add to compatible devices. I have not done that yet. My speed improved immediately. I feel like I’m finally getting the speeds that I’m paying for. Another nice thing is the amount of LAN ports on the router. My previous routers had one, maybe two if I was lucky. This unit has 4 ports, plus a 5th that is labeled “10G”. You can set up a Guest Network for visitors to use on both the 2.4 and 5 gHz speeds (two total). The unit is attractive to have on the shelf and does not take up much room. I am, by far, the most impressed with this router out of the ones I’ve owned/used. It’s fantastic and, with the Wi-Fi 7 built in, I feel that it’s going to last quite a while before being obsolete. It’s worth the investment.

I purchased this a couple of weeks ago to replace another Netgear router that was nearing 10 years old and was having problems keeping up. This one is a GAME CHANGER for a house around 2000 SF. It's incredibly easy to set up, about as close to plug and play as it gets, the range and signal strength is fantastic and the app to run all of it is one of the best apps I've ever had to deal with. Netgear knocked it out of the park with this one!

Reading other reviews about the ease of set up, I did not have quite the same experience. I am not very tech savvy and was hoping this would REPLACE the router from my internet provider. It was explained to me by techie friends that it doesn't replace my ISP router. This made sense since my internet connection to the current router is a coaxial cable. This unit only has ethernet ports. Once I realized I just needed to connect it via the ethernet cable to my current unit, I was off and running! The speeds are amazing. My first test once connected was over 1100Mbps (picture attached). I have NEVER had speeds like that from the router provided by the internet company. I like the interface of the app. I was able to easily set up a guest wifi connection so that people visiting don't have access to all of our devices. This unit has 3 bands. 2.4Ghz, 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz. I was hoping I could select which devices went on which band but I have not figure out how to do that in the app. I don't have young children to worry about but you can use the app to be able to instantly pause their devices. If you sign up for the premium Nighhawk account, you can even set schedules for the kids. The 365 days of Armor Security is a nice addition. It gives you reports about your vulnerability.

I’m not a tech or IT guru by any means, so everything I say in my review is strictly just my experience and may differ from person to person. So the router that I already had was a good router but recently stranger dropping the IP address. So my cable company came out and upgraded our modem. Service got a little better but not by much. So he suggested I get a new router. For no particular reason I decided to upgrade to this one. Ok one of the reasons is how cool it looks compared to my spider leg router. Lol Installation was as simple as downloading the app and accessing their website. As long as you have the necessary codes/numbers you can setup and be online in minutes. The only main difference in the old one I had and this one is mesh or no mesh signal. So far the speed is considerably faster since my computer is only 5 feet away. We also have solar panels and that’s what I’ve been monitoring for break in connection. So far so good. We live in a 1500 Sq ft home so nothing big. Overall I’m not a gamer but I need great service for my work computer and that’s what I’m getting

A router is something we tend to keep for several years, till the point that something gets outdone on it. Prime example, my last router supported up to 1Gbps yet my internet service provider bumped my speed up to 1.2Gbps. With this Netgear Nighthawk and the 10Gbps WAN port I now have plenty of wiggle room. I recently bought a new network attached storage that has a 2.5Gbps port, but again, limited to my old router of only 1Gbps. I could now take it up to 10Gbps as well with the dedicated 10G Ethernet port. Tired of the slow Wi-Fi and constant interruptions from all the devices using the 2.4Ghz band, now you can use the 6Ghz band. Sure, it might not have the range, but it has more speed than the lower channels ever had and chances your neighbors are using the same channels are rather slim. Only downside is that there aren’t a whole lot of devices using that band yet, but if you are like me and like staying on the edge of tech, you will have something that uses it, like the latest stand alone VR. As for routers, this is like previous Netgear devices. You can manage the basics through the app that it encourages you to use, or a bunch of advanced features through a browser. You can set up a VPN, VLANs and static routes. You can manage the quality of service and enable traffic meters. As with many routers, there should be some form of protection as well. This one provides Netgear Armor, but requires a subscription after the first year. This one scans for vulnerabilities on the devices and recommends Bitdefender for devices that can install it for added protection. The only downside is it doesn’t provide very good details or further assistance on the vulnerabilities identified. Their site shows a slightly different version of the app or something and looks like it has buttons/links to give more, but see the included image of two of my devices showing as having a bunch of vulnerabilities but nothing I can do to try and improve them considering they are both up to date. The app also gives you updates when something new connects to your router and you can even see the devices that are trying to connect but might not have the right Wi-Fi password. Overall, I don’t want to say it is “future proof” as next year we might have Wi-Fi8 and 100Gbps ports needed, but I’d say this router is going to get you caught up to all the new tech and carry you a good ways into the future. This is a perfect transition for most devices that still use 2.4Ghz only while bringing in the new ones that can use the 6Ghz and faster Ethernet ports.

Solved my 200+ Smart Devices Network Issues

I used a TP Link AXE75 for about 4 months until the 2.4GHz network stopped working. I purchased a TP Link mesh to replace it, as it advertised 200 connection capability. It quickly bogged down at about 120, and these were simple smart devices, not streaming platforms. So I returned it and decided to get the RS700S, as my luck with TP Link bad, and their tech service is non existent. Netgear answered my tech questions within hours of asking, so that made me decide to switch to them. This router is a beast. It is easy to set up. I even decided to buy two RS300's to extend my network to each side of my house, connecting them via Cat6 to the RS700. Since then, my friends have decided to go this route as well. This is the best setup for large amounts of smart devices, period. I have over 200 connected so far, split between the 3 routers, and never have any lag or delays in the smart devices. Best decision I made was to dump TPlink and go with Netgear. Thank you Netgear!

Best purchase we have made for our home internet. We had an older version of the Nighthawk router that was dying, so we knew the expected quality. Honestly, we are blown away at just how much better this one is. Our devices are automatically connected to the best signal network instead of manually choosing the 2.4 or 5, the app is a breeze to use, and our download and upload speeds are no longer throttled (much) by the router. Highly recommend!

Wow, I'm blown away by this router. I've been using an Xfinity XB8 gateway for about 3 years now since it was released and it's always been *ok*. Recently though I've gotten fed up with it's frequent disconnects so I swapped it out for a newer XB8 and somehow it was even worse? So I decided to go with a mesh system and that didn't work because my house isn't big enough to benefit from it - so my devices kept connecting and disconnecting from one node to the next. So i returned the eero and landed on this beast, the nighthawk be19000. This router is MORE than capable in my home. I have a 1,300 sq ft home with about 35 devices connected at any one time. From several computers, printers, tvs, cameras, etc. I need a very capable router and maybe the xb8 wasn't up to the task. But this router handles it all with ease and without disconnecting. I've had it for about two weeks at this point and haven't had a single issue. The *only* thing is that I turned off Active Armor. I have no need for it, and it was very easy to do so within the app. The app is also mediocre at best, but you have to remember that you're buying this for the networking technology, not the app design.
