Setup was a breeze, although I would have liked more PC setup than phone setup as an option. Required a phone download to get started. That said, I liked how easy it was to get up and running. A little trial and error with http://{IP_address} and I was able to login and do fine tuning from my laptop. NOTE: having two routers in the network played havoc for a bit as they shared the same default IP address. (the phone app helped). Have multiple network capable items all configured to use the router. Noticed very little that would be of concern after a months' use.

Excellent Router. Fastest wireless speeds within 20 feet that I've ever seen. Good range also. My previous NetGear router would drop out randomly in the furthest parts of my house. This router maintains a solid connection and decent speeds. Its pricey, but worth it! Highly recommended.

Got this RS700 to reolace my old R8500 that was showing its age. My oldest can now get reliable signal other end of house along with being a floor lower as well. Plus with having 5 xbox s/x's playing c.o.d. mutuplayer on same network, handles all the connects with no issues. Unfortunately I do not have any devices that can utilize the 6g channel other than cellphones (the new xbox s/x's stayed with 5g instead of using new tech). It seemed when every one was on with old router, one or two of us would loose connection to our game mid match. No issues no.

we had a unique situation where our installed mesh network Wi-Fi was very unreliable. I had delayed changing the router because I was dreading the amount of time it would take to set everything back up and connect it. Very surprised, however when I purchased nighthawk RS700, and found that by using the same network name and password all of my devices connected seamlessly immediately! Bye, for the easiest install process I’ve ever had in the range of the router exceeds what was possible from my network which blows my mind. Fantastic device and although it’s early, it stays anywhere near the experience. I’ll be a very happy customer. the setting from the app seem a little limited, but I have not poked around the website yet.

    Disappointing signal strength/range

    * The Netgear Nighthawk BE19000 tri-band router failed to deliver on the marketing hype with disappointing signal strength and underwhelming range. * Within a very limited range, the router delivered strong up/download speeds. * The system is expensive since only a tiny fraction of devices can take advantage of wifi 7 connectivity and speeds, so it really needed to deliver on all the other marketing promises including reduced interference and “impossibly fast” up/downloads throughout the house. We purchased the Netgear Nighthawk BE19000 as an upgrade to a six-year-old Orbi mesh network series 6 that finally died after several years of faithful service. We connect the Nighthawk router to an Xfinity XB-8 gateway, which we bridge to act as just a modem. Both the Orbi series 6 and the XB-8 are fully capable of providing full coverage across our three-story home. We were excited to take advantage of the latest technology with the Nighthawk, particularly given the much broader coverage, “consistent 10 gig” speed and strong connectivity promised on Netgear’s website. Unfortunately, the real device failed to deliver on those promises and, after several days of use, we reluctantly returned the system to BestBuy. Our home is three stories high and 4,500 square feet — just outside the promised range of the Nighthawk, which is supposed to cover multiple floors and up to 4,000 sq. ft. The router set-up was super simple using the Nighthawk iOS app, which walked you through the process of powering down your existing modem/router, then initiating the new system. It also installed a firmware update and then kicked off the Netgear Armor security system. Please note Netgear charges $100 a year for this all-system anti-virus after the first year; other manufacturers offer similar security systems for free for the life of their systems. Netgear’s tech support only lasts for three months. The router, which was ethernet-cabled to my MBP, delivered 857 mbps down and 39 up. One floor up, the router delivered a less-than-stellar but acceptable 68 mbps down and 12 up. I used my laptop and some software to find the best spots for coverage, but the signal didn’t improve much beyond that initial reading. Unfortunately, the router produced no signal for our backyard Ring camera, which is 15 feet and one exterior wall away. Similarly, there was zero signal on the third floor, in spite of Netgear’s promise of “360 degree coverage.” For comparison, our Orbi series 6 and the Xfinity XB-8 gateway have no problem delivering sufficient signal strength to all three floors and several Ring devices which are positioned all over the outside of our house. I used a similar process on the third floor, using my laptop to search for a signal. In the hallway, I was able to get a signal of 64 mbps down and 8 up. This was on the 2.4GHz band, which typically allows for signals over greater distances and works well for IoT devices like thermostats and older Ring devices. I didn’t experience any signal drops or connectivity issues in those areas where I could get a signal. That said, I need the router to push a signal to the external Ring devices, so it was a bit disappointing that it couldn’t even reach the nearest one, which was just 15 feet away. I admit that my intended purpose doesn’t align exactly with the design of this router, which is aimed at gamers who are likely in the same room. It’s not a mesh system, so it makes sense that it couldn’t send a strong signal up to the third floor. That said, the signal strength dropped off meaningfully even on the same floor down the hall in another room where I have a couple of gaming consoles. I didn’t experience the “Best. Gaming. Ever.,” nor did I experience enough signal strength to deliver “pristine 8K visuals.” Long-story short, we’ll stick with Xfinity’s XB-8 for right now. I understand Xfinity’s coming out with the XB-10 later this year, which will also offer wifi 7 and DOCSIS 4.0. We will wait for that instead of using the Nighthawk.

For whatever reason I had difficulty after setting it up the first time. The unit stopped working then delivered a self assigned IP address. Then I reset it and set it up several times but after 2-3 minutes it would lose internet and go offline. It took a couple hours but I got it working. Since it’s been going strong, no complaints.

Uppded my Cox service to 2.5Gig service from 1Gig. Needed new Router for fastest speed and 2.5Gig output switch port so I could use 2 other 2.5Gig switches to supply 2.5Gig to my 2nd Router for faster Wifi. Everything worked and I get ~1.8Gig Wifi speed standing next to Router with my Samsung S22 phone. Newer phone likely faster speed but S22 is all I have for now. My other router also outputs 1.6Gig WiFi speed now since 2 switches used to pass 2.5Gig to that router.

So far so good , easy installation and efficient steady speeds using Comcast’s gigabit connection. The price is a bit too high for what it offers, the wifi 6 is an option you may use on devices using latest technology. Includes 1 year armor connection so be cautious if you already have a subscription you May need to ask for credit.

Great hardware but beware of Armor/bitdefender

Overall a great new addition to the Nighthawk family of routers. Once you get over the price for this router it is a great buy. The connectivity is plug and play but I will say that this is the 3rd Nighthawk I have purchased and used for many years now. The UI is easy to use for even first time Netgear buyers and even easier if you are used to the netgear software. The LAN speeds with correct hardware is true to the speeds coming out of the wall. The wifi speeds are better but not what I thought they would be according the Netgear's claims. The wifi coverage is true to the companies claims. The reason the star rating is so low is because of Netgear's choice to force the Armor/bitdefender subscription onto buyers. Once you install the router you need to be careful with this subscription as it tells you about being charged unless you cancel it on the Nighthawk App. I am going on 7 days now from submitting a trouble ticket to Netgear about cancelling this and have heard nothing back from them on their internal website submission. So that leads into a lack of customer support for something they require. Another star loss. The hardware is great but their add on service that might be useful to those without 3rd party software in place but not to others and forcing it on a customer is not where Netgear should be with its customers.
