I'm very happy with this router in terms of the 5GHz range and wifi speeds. Using the SPEEDTEST app on my iPhone, I clocked consistently around 108.97mbps download and 23.67 upload in my downstairs family room. The router is located on my second floor in a centralized location. At one point I clocked 171.46mbps download and 23.70mbps upload. Not bad for wifi speeds! The DST adapter absolutely helps to extend the range. This is a great product for the price.

Sorry but a router alone does not constitute 300 dollars. I was in dismay when I saw that it was not a modem&router in one for this price. For the size of this thing you'll be taking up and entire counter along side your modem? Who has a modem anymore?

signal seems to be good for most of house, but it was a bit of work to set up and update, etc. And was not sure whether or not I was logging in to the right thing...mywifi or miwifiEXT both appear?

This was suggested to me from one of the Sales Managers. He said that its the best one you could buy for the money. He is correct, so far, I've had no problem and it has connected to my new 4K HDTV.

I have been using this product for several years. It's very dependable.

It was easy to install, and exactly solved the problem which I was trying to solve, which was eliminating the deadzone in the wifi network at several places of my house

Needed to upgrade my WiFi ! Went with this one because of the Geek Squad backing and extender . Super easy to set up and saw increased speeds instantly

A little more involved than expected. Finanlly had to hire Comcast service man to finish job. Still drops my Netflix movies.

I replaced my old Asus router with this one. IMO the best router on the market, with excellent features.

Was looking to upgrade my router to fix dead spots. Got this to have Geek Squad which installing TV's they are amazing. I tried to use GS but since I couldn't get on internet the SQ person tried to help had no clue about routers told me to return it that it must have been broken. Horrible support and stuck with old router.

purchased the router online and used the geeksquad set up. the router could not locate the dst.... i was told the dst was defective and to return it. i took it back and got a new one from the store....i again called geeksquad, they told me the the router i purchased wouldnt work for my application at home. i was told they needed to be on the same circuit. i am an electrician by trade and cant imagine an entire home being wired on the same curcuit!! now i have to return to the store again to purchase something different! i wish i would have been notified or informed by geeksquad or just the general information on the box cause i would not have wasted my time.

As of 2017 the latest firmware update for this model still does not support VPN for iOS/Android. Netgear supports VPN for iOS/Android for similar models but has indicated there are "no plans" for this model. I suppose that's what you get for buying a castrated model sold exclusively by BestBuy. I am only keeping this router as it was an otherwise fantastic deal at $70 for a refurb. No way I would pay $200+.

I bought this and had issues updating the QOS. After some back and forth with netgear and geeksquad, I got the QOS updated. Four months later the WAN port dies. Contacted Netgear and they said it was Geeksquads responsibilty. Called Geeksquad and they directed me to bring it in to the store. Brought it into the store and they could not do any testing on it and offered to send a technician to my house for a fee. After telling me this they said it was Netgears responsibility to replace the router. Called Netgear again and once again it was Geeksquads responsibility. Called Geeksquad one more time and attempted to get them to remote into my router through my computer to a LAN port. They then stated that the code that I had been given was not listed under my name even though I had used previously with the QOS issue. I finally gave up and I will eat the $200 dollars not to have my life wasted by back and forth. I will never buy anything that is listed under the Geeksquad name and I have lost all confidence in the Netgear name. Next router will be from another company at a different store.

Thinking setup would take 15-30 minutes, but took almost hour and half to complete. After getting the router setup, to enable the "Access Control", the router would have to reboot which took up to 5 minutes to complete. During this time, the LED lights showed a amber light on the power and connectivity indicator. I thought the router was in stuck mode or something. After getting the router setup, Parental Feature is very, very limited. I returned it 2 days later for a Asus.

If you are looking for a router without parental and app support, then this is a decent router with minimal hiccups after a confusing setup. If you need parental controls and or want to use an app for management of this router, do NOT buy it. Netgear dropped app support of it March 2018,,, the app worked until Netgear removed it. Because they removed support from something they had previously, I can not recommend this.

I bought this product in December 2015. I bought it since the sales guy told me that Geek team will come and setup the wireless router. I called number of times and everytime I call for setting up the appointment they dont give me the appointment date instead they said they can walk me though the setup process which they couldnt finish the process. I tired couple of times with them with no sucess and didnt find time even to take back and return. Now it is 4 months and ofcourse they will not takeback the product which I can understand. Just wanted to let other people who is willing to purchase the product know that dont just think that Geek team will help you. This is the worst ever experience for me. Thanks.
