    Router replacement

My old Netgear router went out so I bought the bigger better one. The price was a little hard to deal with at first so I used some reward points. Sadly it was not a simple plug and go set up. Luckily it came with a 1 year Geek Squad plan. I got my moneys worth over the first few hours. The wireless booster that comes with it almost has to have a direct line of sight to the router and Geek Squad in all their wisdom could only tell me that its weak signal must be do to the walls and wiring in my house. As if my house was some old turn of the century farm house with boxed off rooms. I have an open floor concept. In the end I moved the booster about 20 feet away from my router just outside my office door. My devices, all over the house, can still pick up the router wifi, which is actually stronger than the booster wifi, so not seeing the real advantage there. I gave this device a 4 instead of a 3 because of the setup and booster. Once all the bugs were worked out, at least I think they're all worked out, it works great and is strong. I like Netgear. I would not buy this model again though. Or trust that Geek Squad knew what they were doing when it comes to higher level issues over the phone.

I needed Internet to 3 buildings (we are a church). I researched weekday I would need and it was getting pretty pricey. This router flooded every building and at the furthest point we used the extender that was included. I could not be happier!

I bought this on the recommendation of a BestBuy sales associate. I have had other Netgear products and have proven reliable so I got this bundle. Setup was easy enough and the user interface is quite good. I have several years of computer experience so customizing the router was not difficult for my network and anyone with a little experience or can follow Youtube steps should be able to do it themselves. I had a very difficult time setting up the DST Adapter. It was flawless as long as the adapter was not any further than 20 feet from the Router. Any further and no dice. I called Geeksquad and the fellow I talked to was pleasant but knew nothing about the equipment and read the setup steps to me from the manual. I understand even professionals can make basic errors but....so after 45 minutes I got off the phone no further ahead. I finally determined the cause on my own, I was using a battery backup for the Router and when using one of the plugs on the backup, I could not get the Adapter to connect, plug it into the wall and would work fine. Problem solved. With that corrected, I now have had no issues with the Router and Adapter and my son I can play Xbox, daughter stream Netflix and wife surf the internet without any issues.

We had to upgrade our router to accommodate the number of devices connected to it. We love it, and it's the best router we've ever had. My husband loves the DST adapter that came with it. If I understood my husband correctly, the DST adapter is used to make the internet signal stronger in a dead spot (ex. You have a big house, and you don't have a strong internet signal in an upstairs bedroom; you would position the DST adapter in that room to get a stronger internet signal). There's also a Netgear Genie app available to use with this router, which we love. You can see all devices connected to the router with this app. You can block any devices you don't recognize or any that don't have permission to be connected (ex. someone who hacked your internet). Definitely worth the money.

Very good router! Great range. No dead spots in the house now. Was very pleased with the purchase. Easy to set up. The only limitation I have found was due to congestion on the 2.4 ghz channel in my area but this was no fault of the router. Excellent speed on the 5ghz channel. Would definitely recommend even though it is in the higher price range.

I purchased this router to handle the multiple devices and throughout our two story home. The speed and coverage are excellent and with the included adapter we have extended range in the basement. Setup was one of the easiest of any wi-fi router I have purchased, very little work required on my part. Worth the money.

The NETGEAR - Nighthawk DST AC1900 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router with DST Adapter is a great router and adapter combo that does a good job of covering my whole house. It is a bit of a pain to manually switch to the adapter's wireless signal when moving to that part of the house and if you don't want to deal with that, it might be wise to look into the newer mesh technology but you will end up spending a lot more for that. Otherwise, this combo works great and I highly recommend it.

Purchased this router to replace an older Netgear router. I had read reviews here and on Amazon; many of whom raved about the reliability of this product. Our home is small, but there are many devices that use the wifi. I had been looking into getting a powerline ethernet adapter for my room, so that I could game more easily without interruption in our wireless. With two rokus, multiple tablets, a smart tv, and four computers (of varying ages) using the wifi, gaming was almost impossible. This router (and the powerline ethernet adapter/ dead spot terminator) is a powerhouse. It really works amazing, and I am really REALLY pleased with the speeds that I am getting. We use Charter who, plugged in, only offers about 70MBPS at the moment, and I am getting 50-60 on the 5ghz wifi and 60-66 with the adapter (ethernet). HOWEVER, the setup of this router is supposed to be easy. It is NOT. What a pain in the butt! Best Buy states that there is set-up support. I plugged everything into the correct ports just like the directions told me. Followed everything to the T. No matter what I did, the netgear genie would not find the internet, and then it would immediately disconnect the router. I called Best Buy the first night. First guy told me that he couldnt help me at all. Didn't even try to troubleshoot. Next I called Netgear, hoping they could help. They told me that because this product was bought with the Geeksquad support that they couldnt give me any technical support for the first year. Both suggested I call my internet service provider. I called Geeksquad back again, and the next guy was much more helpful, but unfortunately, he could not get the router set up. Both Geeksquad people told me that I could just go in for a Geeksquad appointment and they would let me know if it was a problem with the router. Go into BestBuy the next day, the Geeksquad there tell me that they cant do anything, but they can send someone out to the house. But that will take a few days. They let me exchange my original router (which I do) and I go back home, and hope for the best. We plug everything in, same thing. Can't find the internet connection. Cannot even log into the router via the routerlogin.net. Call my internet service provider, they tell me they can't help me at all. They do not provide any support in setting up a third party product. I don't know what we did, but I did a hard reset to factory settings on the router, and then clicked to set it up myself (not letting netgear genie do the work) and that immediately brought me to the place that I could log into the router. From there, I was able to MAC spoof the router, by choosing 'use my Computer's MAC address' and then did a reboot from the Netgear Genie advanced menu. Once it reboot, it just suddenly started working. Again, I don't know what changed, but that was my 'work around.' We probably spent a total of 6 hours troubleshooting and trying to set the thing up. Now that it works? Totally worth the $250 bucks. Hopefully what I posted here will help someone else who has the same issue. I also purchased the replacement plan through Best Buy because I have read reviews of the router crapping out after a year. It's only $30, so I felt like it was worth it.

Purchased 11/30/15. IPad kept dropping signal which really, really kept upsetting my wife as did my HP laptop though not as often and it set right beside my old router. We live in a 2 story house and my new router now sets on the top of my roll top desk downstairs in roughly the center of the house and my extender is also downstairs around 30 feet from the router. Today is 1/07/16 and my wife has complained once to me and I can attribute that to just a naturally occurring disconnect that we will all experience with a wireless connection. I have up to 7 devices connecting at once and so far its great. I love it and my wife is back to loving me. What a small price to pay for happiness.

2 teenagers, 2 adults, 4 laptops, 4 iPads, 4 iPhones, 4 tv's. When friends come over forget about it. Our existing router couldn't reach downstairs where my sons room and family room are. When he was in his room we were using data on our cell phones and Netflix buffered constantly. The extender has worked well so far and set up instructions were easy enough that I didn't need Geek Squad support that it comes with.

I purchased the Nighthawk after reading reviews on line and product testing. The Nighthawk was also recommended to me by one of the IT professionals from my work. I was frustrated by inconsistent range and unpredictable speed with my old wireless unit. The Nighthawk is everything the product testing said it would be. Having a large two story house it provides amazing coverage over the entire house and the two band system allows old equipment to work well along with newer devices. It is the best wireless I have ever used. I have recommended the Nighthawk to everyone who has asked for advice.
