Previous router was perfect or so I thought until it went out and we purchased this "nighthawk". Lighting fast connectivity! 3 stars because we have a detached garage and workshop that the service does not reach. May have to look @ purchasing a booster.

I've generally had good experiences with Netgear routers and I was happy with this one. It was working fine then it stopped. I had geek squad protection so BB exchanged it without hesitation but when I tried to hook up the new one I couldn't get it to pass the Internet signal from my modem. I spent an hour on the phone with a geek squad member who tried everything in his power to make it work to no avail. He suggested I bring it back and try a 3rd router to see if I just had the misfortune of buying two routers with the same exact flaw. I declined that option and went with a different manufacturer and was up and running with a better signal in 15 minutes and no calls to tech support.

I purchased this based on the fact that I just spent $15k installing a commercial grade Netgear wireless system in my 100k sq ft office/warehouse. I figured with as solid as this system was, the more expensive consumer stuff should work ok.
Actually it has worked pretty good for exactly 7 weeks. Had some issues with the DST's but got that worked out...have had to reboot the whole system 2-3 times in 7 weeks.
Then, suddenly the DHCP stops assigning addresses to wired devices. Then wireless was going on and off randomly and the number of devices it would detect varied greatly everytime it was refreshed. Top this off with a 5 hour phone call/chat session with Geeksquad. Worst support ever as well. The 'tech' was able to remote into my desktop but just moused around a few minutes, opened a web browser and said it looks good. Did not even look at network settings or router settings. I had to bring up the router web interface to demo what was dropping and then he finally said maybe it was defective...
Going back to the store to see what kind of hassle getting it exchanged is going to be since I'm a couple weeks outside of my 45 day elite plus return window...

Heard about this router, heard good things, store workers recommended it, read reviews ... Sounded great and thought would be a relatively easy install and I did expect some tech issues will be encountered but not what I had gone through and needed to do ..If your using it with Verizon FiOS be prepared !! After a call to Netgear tech support which I thought would be free because I bought their product well that didn't work very well after $130 later to sign up for a 1yr tech support plan and about 3 hours later they got it connected with piggybacking to Verizon system .. Results were not all I really expected ..Yes it does work but not all that impressed I guess...

bought this because of the dead spot extra but I still have poor service where I installed it. Then I completely lost my signal upstairs on a device. Can't log into the netgear genie keeps telling me my password doesn't match. So took it down and put it back in the box. Can't return it because of the horrible return policy of 15 days because I was sick for about three weeks and couldn't try it out properly or do much with it until now. So stuck with a 229.00 router that is back in the box and doesn't work well. Talked to Geek squad in store because it comes with free installation help and so on and so forth was told couldn't do much to contact netgear they may replace it.

I have been using this new nighthawk router/dst adapter combo for about two months and it has been a lifesaver for my internet speeds. My previous setup was more complicated as I am using my same network in my cafe downstairs and in my apartment above and had to run a cable upstairs when I wanted more reliable internet since the signal was spotty. I have been very impressed with the improved coverage and really enjoy not having to deal with extra wiring and routers. Setup was quick and easy with the provided guide and I was able to connect my computer, tv, and tablets quickly to the adapter. I haven't had to use the Geeksquad support yet, but glad to know that it's there. I didn't think this combo could improve my past setup much, but it has greatly exceeded my expectations in performance. The adapter has made my speed and coverage so much better, and I would recommend this to my friends. I received this product as part of the Netgear F&F review group.

Little issue w/ initial set-up. The free support call was a joke and had to have Geek Squad come out and fix the issue. After that, no problems.

For me this product has been temperamental. I live in an apartment and can never guarantee that I will have internet while connected to the adapter. I've even placed both devices in the same room and they will not sync half of the time.

I was told this router would significantly extend the reach and strength of the wifi signal, but aside from the outlet plugin unit, the router does not really enhance the signal whatsoever. Pretty expensive for no improvement.

The DST device can be finicky to set up. It's not really as simple as plugging it into any outlet in the house. Works best on the same circuit as the base unit, which limits your options in actual practice.

As many have said in the reviews, you can't use a surge protector with this router if you want to use the range extender. So get reay to replace this unit the next lightning storm that hits your area.
