Very unhappy with customer service! I bought router w/adapter and the adapter was not in the box. I had the serviceman to install & could only do the router. I called & they said I had to return the whole thing- which was installed- they would not credit me or replace w/an adapter. I was on the phone for 45 minutes with no results. I had also bought the additional warranty. You would think they would make this right...not! Customer service the worst!

Unable to set this up. I called the geek squad two time and had no help, the first time I was hung on and the second time I was told it would take two or three days to be able to talk to someone who knew anything about this product... SO, I took it back to the store and got a refund.

Could not get the DST to work. Maybe because I use a UPS, maybe not. Store and on-line Geek squad couldn't figure it out and wanted to send someone to my house (for a $99 fee.) Just bought it the day before so I am not going to pay anyone $99 more to try to get it going so I returned the product.

Great Router; DST Bandwidth Limit Is Disappointing

    Posted .

I bought this router combo with the hopes of extending the speed and range of the 100mbps Internet in my townhouse. Well the Nighthawk AC1900 surely worked wonders for that purpose! Using the 5ghz band of WiFi signal, my phone and laptop (both of which have AC networking capabilities), I reach a blazing 80mbps download speed (uploads maxed around 6mbps). The 2.4ghz band that connects with the b/g/n WiFi adapters delivered a solid 20-25mbps down/6mbps up. This is where I was disenchanted with the Dead Spot Terminator adapter. I imagined that the WiFi output would be slower (after all, it is essentially a bulked range extender), but as the adapter comes with a Gigabit Ethernet port, I was hoping to extend the speed using a hardline rather than the b/g/n WiFi card. But I experienced no change from the 2.4ghz WiFi signal -- making the DST adapter relatively worthless for my situation. With that said, this combo is a solid investment for those looking to boost the speed to your devices throughout the house. The ReadyCloud feature also comes in handy if you wish to create your own personal cloud server using any USB 3.0 hard drive. But unless you are needing to extend the signal in a house bigger than 2500sqft, the DST adapter is essentially useless, as the Nighthawk's signal strength is outstanding on it's own. Side Note to Best Buy: I just wish I waited a week to purchase the device... It was listed for $20 off and one week later to the day, it was dropped another $30 for the sale price of $200. I am unsure what the logic is of doing a double sale like that is, but it definitely did not make me a happy consumer... TL;DR - Fast Router with Cloud Capabilities. DST only worthwhile to extend b/g/n range. Best Buy has a peculiar sale schedule that cost me $30.

Good router, terrible Geek Squad service

I purchased the Nighthawk DST model R7300DST router on 11/7/2015 at my local Best Buy store. The people at Best Buy were very helpful when selecting the right router for my needs. After getting home I hooked the equipment up exactly like the manual shows and then called Geek Squad support. The 1st person I dealt with proved to have absolutely no knowledge of the Neatgear router or any idea how to help me set it up on my computer. After 35 minutes she finally gave up and told me to call back and ask to talk to another tech support person with more knowledge. I called back and talked to a different tech support person and explained to him exactly where I was at with hooking up equipment and what my computer was prompting me to do on the Netgear Genie. I quickly found out that this Geek Squad tech support guy had no knowledge of the equipment either. Even though I was being very polite on the phone the tech support guy was being extremely rude and less than helpful. The Geek Squad tech support guy was growing more and more agitated and rude as I explained the Netgear Genie prompts that appeared on my screen. As I got about 75% the way through the setup all of a sudden the Geek Squad technician hung up on me. Again, I was being very polite with this person the whole time. Best Buy/Geek Squad management, I highly recommend you listen to the recorded conversations that I had with Geek Squad technicians on 11/7/15 between 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST. After figuring out how to set up the Netgear router mostly myself it seems to be a pretty good piece of equipment. If you are planning on buying this router BEWARE of what you'll be dealing with when you contact Geek Squad!!!

This router was great when it worked but died after 13 months. At $250 I expected a whole lot more. This is the second Netgear router I have had that died almost immediately after the warranty expired. That is a very expensive year of router use. Disappointed.

Best buy sold this as a plug and play unit. After a service call from xfinity to make sure it wasnt the network, and 5 hrs on phone with geek squad come to find out the unit needed a firmware update to function. Shouldn't be selling units that arnt network ready.

Awesome product!!! It has a great coverage; I live in a 3 floor-house with cement walls which makes it difficult for Wi-Fi. This router is fantastic, easy to install (didn’t need the geek support), wide range coverage, and the DST adapter helps to get to difficult spots. I am so glad I listened to the sales clerk advice. All my connections problems have been solved with this router, Love it!

If you have cox or Xfinity you might run in to issues at higher speeds which is unfortunate. If you working with slower speeds it might work. I would try a different one for a similar price.
