Bought this to consolidate router & modem, increase speeds, and increase range. It did all three. And it was easy to set up - a bonus.

Bought this to replace Comcast modem. The range and speed of uploads and downloads are much better than xfinity router/modem. Setup was easy.

Save money from cable with your own router

I bought this because I hate paying rent to the cable company (wish they would let you do that for the cable boxes and not just routers!). I had to pay more to get one that would work with the phone but this one fits the bill. It was easy to set up and has worked flawlessly so far. It was not cheap and I still have a way to go to break even but the cable company made that easier by raising their rental rates right after I got this router installed - now it doesn't matter how much the cable company gouges people for router rentals, I am immune to future rate increases. Much better to have your own and it will pay for itself eventually.

Stop paying rental fees and take back control of your home wifi and phone. If you enjoy configuring your Wifi on your TV, letting Xfinity know everything about your home network, don't mind being forced to use insecure DNS or just enjoy paying the additional fees so Comcast can manage your system then this isn't for you. For the rest of us I recommend this unit for the price, features, compatibility and speed. Has features like guest network separate from private home network. Only issue I have found is even though this is a cable modem and wifi router in one, this unit can't be setup for private VPN at the time of review.

I bought this router because I was switching to xfinity voice and my old Comcast-provided router did not include voice. It was an awful router anyway with absolutely no range. Since i have had good luck in the past with Netgear router and expander (since the comcast was so bad), i chose this over the Motorola, which was the other option. My first wifi router was Motorola, and it was even worse than the Comcast. I am very happy with the Netgear. The range and speed are excellent. I find their devices quite easy to set up, and I am very tech-averse.

This was so simple to set up, especially when we figured out how to get the phones to work. Xfinity didn't know how to make it so all the phones worked, but we were finally able to make all of them work. The internet is now faster and actually reaches every single nook and cranny in our house. The one we rented from Xfinity didn't reach everywhere. Now we have wifi everywhere in a large house and will be saving quite a bit of money each month. No more lagging for anyone! Wish I would have known about this years ago to save a ton of money!

We purchased this router to provide extra bandwidth for all the devices in our home. Now we no longer have buffering issues with internet programming and we're saving the $10/month router rental fee from the cable company.

I’ve decided to break from paying my internet provider a monthly fee for renting their router which was with ther usual fear mongering and all the bad stuff that will happen they couldn’t be responsible for. Did some research about equipment in the market took the known road of NETGEAR, setting equipment up was very easy after some push back from provider not finding such equipment in their database of acceptable ones however after that was all cruising measured speed is on range with specs. I couldn’t been happier!!

I bought this to replace my xfinity modem, who was charging me $13 a month. This device did it all and it did it very well. It has voice, wifi and it’s a great device. Set was so easy. The only thing is that it doesn’t work with some Xfinity equipments like security, and wireless cable

I have owned and used this modem for about two weeks. Pros are good features such as dual 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless, 2 phone lines, 4 port Ethernet and 24x8 channels. Cons is for the price should include the backup battery and more then 1-yr warranty on parts and labor with 90-days free support. Best Buy does offer their own warranty coverage, but for only two years. Setup with Comcast/Xfinity was very easy and did not even have to contact anyone to initiate the modem with IP service. I don't have the phone service, but feel it would work just fine.

Covers a 4000 sqft house with ease. Mounted in the middle of an open concept floor plan on the 1st floor and covers the entire house. It has a hair of latency on the edges of the house but holds a HD stream nicely after just a few seconds of buffering. Up close, on 5k band it's insanely fast. I was going to buy a whole home wifi solutions after this failed me, but it hasn't yet. Saved me an easy $400.
