My COMCAST rental modem was better

Have been waiting on an AC modem router that would support Comcast phone service. Got this Nighthawk C7100V thinking it was finally time to get off the rental program. Went through the set up, called Comcast and got it provisioned/activated (yes it was a bit of a pain). Everything functions, but my Download speed is only about 10 Mbps. Comcast confirms they can see my modem and tells me that they've got me set up for my 75 Mbps service. They say its a Netgear problem. I call Netgear and finally get through to an engineer. He gets me to change the wireless channels and MTU size. I run speed test again and no change. He says to observe for 24 hours and call back if it doesn't improve (take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning). Problem is with wireless and ethernet CAT 6 connection. Sounds like he just wanted to get off the phone with me.

    Dont buy Netgear

this is my second Netgear Router/Cable modem in the year, they both were terrible. In the beginning, I thought it was Comcast fault because I refused to lease a modem out from them. My first router (C7000-100NAS) had intermittent connection, actually I had Comcast people coming to my house several times to check the exterior and interior of my house and found NOTHING. Then, after several calls to Netgear they "upgraded" my router for this one (C7100V) but it was even worse. So I kept calling Netgear because this "new" router had the same issues, but they never gave me a solution for this one. Actually this router kicked out every single device in my home from the wifi TWICE, changing the network name to its original from factory. So I ended up leasing a comcast modem and havent experienced ANY problem in two weeks
