Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Nighthawk Mesh X4S Wall-Plug Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender's impressive WiFi range, ease of use, and setup simplicity. Many appreciate the improved signal strength and expanded coverage it provides throughout their homes. While some experienced occasional connectivity issues or found the device's size somewhat large, the positive feedback on performance and range significantly outweighs the negative comments. The extender is generally considered effective at extending WiFi coverage.

I installed this to get better coverage in my 3000 sq ft house , was no difficult to install and seems to be working but still some areas where I don’t have the expected coverage. Little pricey but I like it

The Media Panel at our new Townhome is located on the 2nd floor at the absolute furthest point from the rear of our home. Although our internet signal is available throughout our home, it starts to die once you move outdoor to the backyard. More specifically the signal is non-existent once you move into the garage. Not a good scenario in light of the fact I have WiFi device installed to report the status of our garage door i.e. open or closed. Solution? Netgear’s Nighthawk MESH TRi-Band Extender. With WPS installation, the extender was up and running in a matter of minutes. Once connected to our Netgear R8500 Router, we moved the extender to the rear of our home a viola, the dead spot outside/garage was eliminated. If you are in the market for an extender, check out the Netgear Nighthawk MESH Tri-Band Extender. You won’t be disappointed.

I found the setup with my Netgear wifi router was easy. After connecting the 2.4 and 5 lights did not light up. I logged in to the extender and updated the firmware. The lights still did not turn on and the page said nothing was connected to either. Thats when I realized nothin had a chance to connect down stream of the extender. I have three Nest cameras that occasionally lost signals. I used the app WiFi Sweetspots to check signals before and after. They all went up and were more consistent than before. Attached are the before and after installing the extender.

Connectivity was so effortless. All I needed was to extend my signal a bit into my garage. Done! It now not only covers my entire 3 1/2 car garage, but also most of my backyard. Don’t buy this if you like waiting all day for pages to load haha.

The extender was super easy to set up. I just followed the included step by step instructions and was up and running with WiFi in an area of my house that only had a very weak signal before. It was quick and painless.

I purchased the Nighthawk Wireless-AC Tri-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender as an upgrade to a much smaller and older Netgear extender I was using previously. I use these for travel when I rent a house for several weeks and they have poor WiFi coverage or for temporary extensions to my home networks when I'm evolving my topology. The nice improvement here for me over my previous extender was the addition 5GHz, MIMO and the ability to use the same SSID as the base router. Set up was straight-forward and performance was good. It has a nice status page showing the operation of the extender. In my case, I was using the extender in conjunction with a HughesNet Gen5 satellite system with the HT2000W modem/router/WAP. I was impressed that it worked pretty well even though I doubt the HT2000W had any special ability to communicate with the extender.

    Good option for extending WiFi

I've had a hard time finding an inexpensive alternative to extending my coverage in the house. I tried a mesh network, it worked ok but since I was not willing to shell out $900 to buy all the same brands of routers (I have a netgear r7000 and bought 2 Asus) I was not able to take full advantage of my mesh network and ran into compatibility problems at times. I read some reviews on the Mesh X4S and it was average so I decided to give it a try. I settled on limiting my upstairs WiFi to "the best possible solution without breaking the bank". So far this has provided the coverage I needed for my upstairs along with my Ring Doorbell which I was losing connection when I had the previous mesh. It's nothing spectacular but it provides fairly good range and provides the necessary signals to the areas I had issues with previously. I get 60+ Mbps to most of the devices in good range and it dropped my Ring Doorbell signal quality from 65~ to 29. For the price you could probably buy a fairly decent router that would provide a better overall signal, but I didn't want to have a router sitting on the table or tv center. I wanted something somewhat invisible to the surrounding area and this works well. The downside, is you're not able to turn all the LED lights off which the one for power is still fairly bright, but I can live with it.

This works great, is easy to setup and uses same SSID as your router. Problem was my Sonos speakers (which is why I got it) won't work with extenders so I had to return it. Not Netgears fault, it is Sonos's fault. This is a great product and works well.

It works great. I bought it because I was experiencing intermittent connection in certain spots in my house . Installation couldn’t have been simpler . Worked perfectly until it didn’t . It may not be the extender’s fault though. Similar intermittent connection issues occurred but they seemed to be longer in duration. I ended up unplugging it . I’ll try again after I get a new router . Maybe the 3 stars should go to my internet provider instead.

This router is great!! everywhere in my house I get great wifi and 4 bars, Setup was a lot of work but it was worth it. I Btw, you do not need to configure this from a wireless device (why would anyone want to if you have a hardwired network??). I updated the firmware right away. You do NOT want this in your bedroom unless you disable the lights because the LED lights are very bright. Its Very sleek device, and lots of bright blinking lights, if you like that sort of thing (I do!). Btw, we're running 4-5 wired computers and 4 smart phones, and 2 android tablets, an ipad, and 4 laptops, with no problems whatsoever. Btw, a little trick someone else mentioned: you can setup both wireless frequencies to the same Network ID, with the same passwords, so if you do have a connectivity issue on one, it should automatically go to the other. Money well spent!

I bought this range extender for my father so he can listen to music while he cuts grass and does outside activities. We have a 2,500 sq foot house. With the router we have he doesn’t get any WiFi outside. When we bought this he can walk around our entire yard. Just under an achre and a half and he has full bars everywhere. We had some difficulty with setup. But the service is so good I still give it 4 stars.

We have a ranch home that is very long and we have two rooms where getting wi-fi is difficult. We installed this and it seems to work in one room just fine but the other is still spotty on it's connection. I am not sure this was worth the money. I think it's worth a try if you have an issue, just wasn't as impressive as I had thought.
