Set the router up in my basement, and am measuring about three times the speed I was with my previous router (stock verizon). Administration GUI is pretty cool to; has some interesting features.

Love it.... Great range and the added net duma software and its customizations are fantastic. I have not had a single issue and would highly recommend it to any gamer.

This thing works well. It's got really cool and intuitive features in the OS you can log into, rather than the typical router settings webpage. That said, some of the features are hard to understand and there is literally no guide for them. Netgear support is AWFUL, so know your stuff. Don't bother calling them. I had to spend hours and hours figuring out the nitty-gritty on my own, but it was worth it in the end. This is a great router. Get the warranty - at this price it would be stupid not to insure yourself.

I got tired of my games lagging so I bought this router. Problem solved. No more worrying about others streaming video, etc. Awesome router.

If I could rate this product above 5 stars I would. Honestly the best router I've ever used and will ever need for all my gaming needs. If you dont have it, you need it!

My first time dealing with Qos router. Love the concept, was easy to set up but not sure how effective it is at directing the bandwidth. I'm not the most technically inclined but I manage, however I was playing eso on xbox with my brother and his assigned bandwidth percentage was lower than mine, plus he was on the wifi and I was direct linked, and about half the time he would still load in before me. I'm sure that has nothing to do with the router and more to do with my ISP but that has been my experience so far. Overall though I feel like it handles traffic better than my previous router.

I was hesitant to buy this router mainly because I worried I was simply paying for the "Gaming" and "Nighthawk" names over a less game oriented AC router. Reviews tend to be very good for the XR500 and it won more than one site's editor's choice. So I decided to get it since I recently upgraded to a gigabit connection. The router works well as a $300 gigabit switch. My wired desktop hits 987 Mbps and I even saw a 3-4 ms reduction in my ping (avg prior was around 35ms). That is about where the fun stops. The wireless is terrible. I spent 10 days trying to get it to work using my own knowledge and multiple support forums. Even the community support at Netgear told me just to call the phone. The attached link is my support thread if you want to read through it all. The TL:DR is the internet drops on wireless devices constantly and most of the time doesn't come back without a reboot. The same devices wired never have an issue. My old Asus AC-66U never has an issue with the devices and the same modem. I have done every setting, refresh, update, configure known to man for this router and it just doesn't work. I wouldn't be upset at a DOA router if it didn't take hours on the phone with Netgear's own systems going down and having to pay $30 for RMA on a fully warrantied product. We bought this after our initial router wasn't fast enough. This handles 4 users easily and is pretty fast. I am a motion designer and needed a faster router.

Overall a good router. I had some issues with the one I purchased and ended up returning for something different.

I love being able to prioritize the different bandwidths and having the two different wifi bands. I always have great speeds for both wifi and plug in. Never any issues with the router.

Bought this during quarantine, while working from home. Current router/modem combo would drop devices. This one lets you specify a percentage per device.

I do a lot of gaming to this router has honestly help me have a steady ping sometimes it would spike but now it’s stopped that from happening

I have been using it for just over 2 year, have had no issues at all with the functionality. I have only rebooted it may 3 times besides the firmware updates and those were probably not necessary, The only problem I had is I broke an antenna. Was my fault but it obviously broke easier than I would have liked :) The Duma OS is an excellent feature and has some great security features. I am really the only one using mine, my sister uses it some. But the Duma OS allows you to monitor and regulate network traffic which could be a huge plus in multi device networks/homes.

This router is life changing. We saw a 4-5 times increase in our download speeds as soon as I set this up. It's so easy to set up and so worth the cost!! Best purchase of 2018.

This router is fast, but not as fast as my Netgear Nighthawk AX8 (RAX80). The geo filtering works as intended for games. I primarily play Destiny 2.

Good speed and variety of options in settings. Since purchasing I have finally had a stable connection during all my Zoom meetings for school.

Flawless in operation. I highly recommend it. I live in a 2000 sq foot house and there are no dead spots. 3 phones two tablets XBox and 2 TVs works perfectly.

This XR-500 router is user friendly and can switch between 2.4 ghz and 5ghz. This Router is what you want for the serious gamer for it's fast speed and multiple connectivity.

The nighthawk router is the best gaming router I have utilized in the last 10 years. I would recommend this for anyone looking for the best gaming router available.
