Works great and have had no issues with it at all!

Have had the router for a little over a year now and it has not been worth the money. DumaOS seems like a nice system, but they don't have a strong partnership with Netgear. This leads to slow roll-outs of buggy firmware. Most recent beta, which you have to use if you want certain performance related fixes, now drops LAN connections randomly and won't let you reconnect across restarts and/or factory resets. When it works, the performance is just ok, I'd expect a lot more from a mid-high end router focused on gaming.

I’m returning. I couldn’t even get the router to see the modem. It just kept saying no internet connectivity, but the internet worked just fine with the modem alone however we kept getting a lot of latency problems . So then I disconnected the modem and tried the router on its own and nothing work. So we ended up just going back to our isp modem and having them come out to fix the latency.

Decent router as far as control over settings. The apartment I’m currently in has a lot of dead spots though, so I really think a mesh system is more appropriate for me.

As far as a router goes, this does the job. However, because it isn't the recommended router for my particular service, I get a lot of interruption on other devises.

If you're a gamer then NetDUMA routers offer something you can't get anywhere else - geofencing to get you closer lobbies. I had the R1 but "upgraded" to this for the faster wireless & processing. I'm still using it, but turning directly connected devices on will sometimes make the router drop the internet connection & reconnect, dropping internet to the whole house for a minute or so. Emailing support was not helpful. Guess I'll live with it until they (hopefully) fix it with a firmware update.

I suppose it’s fine, don’t really need as much power as it supplies at all... nor does it give you a wireless dL or up or 1000 but still nice.

There is way too much going on with this router. It never did get a good signal and lagged like crazy. Very unhappy with this router. I should have bought the ASUS the first time and not the router. I returned it and bought the ASUS AC3100 it is a much better router!

I needed a new router for my home as I game and also work from it. However even thou the features this router has caught my eye. It is the biggest piece of junk I've seen. Constant app crashing, no support from netgear to fix it. Only community support and have yet to see a firmware update to correct this issue. Along with that the wifi constantly goes down.

I love the dumaOS software but the Netgear hardware, horrible. since the day I bought it, I had nothing but trouble with this thing. It would constantly drop internet to the point of having to factory reset it all the time. After the last firmware update, it pretty much bricked it, not even a factory reset could fix it. Finally returned the unit for a refund and went with a linksys. Check the Netgear forum for topic xr500 dropping internet, there is a post with over 700+ replies, it's crazy. Buy at your own risk.

This netgear router is good but not user friendly. If you aren't tech savvy I wouldn't get it.
