Not for parents
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looking for a new router to control internet access with my child and this was recommended to me. I was told that the "DumaOS" has parental controls. It does not. You can block a website if you type in the URL. However you cannot disable the website for individual devices. It also does not allow you to set access schedules for individual devices - example iPad internet access between 7 am and 10 pm. There is no way to block adult content, peer to peer file sharing, etc unless you use a dns server. It also doesn't allow you to track the websites your child is viewing by device. Initial installation of router was glitchy. I had to reset the device twice before it recognized the internet. I'm sitting about 35 feet from the router right now and it's broadcasting through two walls. I'm getting 3 out of 4 bars of connection. It's running smoothly right now - I will be returning this in the next couple days. I would suggest looking into the ASUS routers with AiProtect if you want parental controls.

Great Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router awhile ago. 1st one I got wouldn't stay synced, so took back to Best Buy and got it replaced. Second is alot better but every once in a while I would still lose internet and had to reboot. I finally decided to buy my own ARRIS cable modem for NJ OPTIMUM 300. Upgraded to the latest firmware this November 2021 and router would not stay connected. Did a factory reset on the modem and I am getting blazing speeds, solid connection with no drops. Router allows my to run 2 xbox, 2 streaming TV, 3 phones, 3 laptops all with no buffer. Great signal through out 1400 sqft house. No problems connecting any device. The trick for me was that cable modem and now this router ROCKS! Don't use the modems the ISPs rent you. Buy your own!

Awesome router for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is absolutely fantastic. I was using an older netgear router before and this blows it out of the water. I get 100MBPS out of the wall and with this router on wifi, I get close to 75. Its amazing.

Pleasantly surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router that is rich in features for gamers. I can customize how far away game servers can be, and prioritize my console and console traffic. I can even limit the bandwidth on individual devices on my network. I haven’t played any games using it yet, but got A+ quality ratings from initial bufferbloat tests on wireless. And my console will be wired.

Solid performance, great range, great DUMAOS UI.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After opening the box, installation was super simple. Setup wizard launches from any device's browser, and it took less than a minute everything was up and running. The UI was much different than I was used to for a router. There are mutliple 'apps' that are installed which exposes a bunch of different dashboard widgets. Any of the widgets that you find useful, you can pin to your homepage dashboard. I found this super useful to make it easy to access all the different widgets quickly. One feature widget that I found really useful was from the Quality of Service app. used for allocating download bandwidth for each device. You can preset guaranteed bandwidth for each device where any available bandwidth would get shared to all devices as available. I used to have issues with gaming or watching streams whenever someone else was downloading large files. This totally solved it. As far as wireless performance, I found the range to be much better than the ASUS TM-AC1900. I have a two story house with detached garage with office. I used to have some patches of bad reception, and it all pleasantly seems to have gone away. Great OS, features and performance.

I wish they sold this in stores
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wish I didn't have to order this online, and could buy in store. That is my only disappointment. This is lightyears ahead of the router it is replacing. Drastic increase in my internet speed, and I love that I can prioritize devices over my network. The “local play” setting for online video game use is a nice feature as well. Can’t recommend this product enough very for the money.

Easy to use Gaming Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to setup the Nighthawk Pro Gaming Wi-Fi Router in just a few minutes. It has a very intuitive web interface that allowed me to easily prioritize my internal devices to ensure the best performance on the devices I use for gaming, compared to traffic from my TV's. It also has a great wireless range. I have a detached garage that has a few devices that are easily able to connect via a strong signal. I did receive this product as a Netgear first look program, and I am very pleased with how it performs.

Great Router, Feature Rich and Reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this product for a few months now and love it. It has so many easy to use features. It also has its own O.S. that makes using all of its features very nice to use. You can monitor and tweek just about anything on this router you can think of. This router was made for gaming in mind and it does it well. I have had no connectivity issues or constant reboots like my old router. The router also has excellent wireless coverage. If you are looking for a router that has many features and will hold up to the amount of bandwidth gaming and streaming requires then this is the router for you.

All things considered, pretty great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up fiber internet when we moved into our house in September of 2018. I was trying to maximize this bandwidth as best as I could, and purchased a number of other other routers (Netgear, Asus, etc.) I did an annoying amount of research looking for routers and modem combos through consumer reports, CNET, PC mag, you name it and didn't find the reviews of this router to be all that impressive. So naturally I purchased the "better rated" routers for my speed requirements and home size, and didn't particularly love the results (especially with the highly ranked Asus AC2197). I kept having connectivity issues and problems with 2.4ghz channel dropping. Finally picked this up as my 4th or 5th router in two weeks and have been pretty happy with it since. Been using this particular router for almost 10 months now, and haven't had many issues. The user interface is nice, but a bit complicated. It takes a decent amount of research to be able to set everything up properly, and might not be the best options for people looking to just "buy and plug in." After getting everything configured, connecting has been (mostly) painless. I have a two story 2,300 square foot home with the router centered in the middle of the home. We have three smart home devices, nest door bell, two cell phones, two macbooks, smart TV and 2 ipads almost constantly connected and utilizing some degree of bandwidth on the 2.4 and 5ghz channels. I also have my PS4 hardwired with cat 6 ethernet. We have had once software update since we've owned it, it took 5 minutes to reboot and reset and worked fine afterwards. There is an app you can download on your phone which is nice, you can connect remotely to your router to check status and update connections as you need. While the market doesn't have many great options for routers in the 1 GB/s market. This router can get me pretty consistently around 500 mb/s on the 5ghz channel on my laptop (with other devices), and maybe 600 mb/s through with the hardwire cat 6 cables. Not a terrible price, and would recommend if nothing else newer on the market has better specs.

Reliable, easy to set up, great OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I got this router along with Netgear's DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, Cox rented us their "flagship" Panoramic router, which has a built-in DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, as well as built-in MoCa. But the Panoramic was completely useless. Dropped WiFi connections constantly. And it runs hot too. So I got the Netgear combo out of frustration. Never thought one should spend so much on a router and modem, but here they are. The Netgear is flawless. So easy to setup. So stable. Not a single issue. That alone is enough to give me peace of mind on spending so much after having had so much trouble with Cox. But this also has the best router OS I've ever seen. The device-level and app-level prioritization is a great feature if you have such needs. I'm also glad that the functions which I've relied on with older Netgear routers in the past continue to work with this router despite the new OS. For example, the USB printer control allows a ScanSnap scanner to be connected on the network and accessible by multiple computers rather than be tied to one. I was quite concerned it might not work, but it did. What a relief. The only feature that this router loses is the built-in parental control that works with OpenDNS, which I believe is important for families that have kids. You can still use OpenDNS' parental control with this router (or any other router for this matter). To to this you just need to have an account with OpenDNS, and then manually setup the DNS server on the router to point to OpenDNS server addresses: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. One parental control feature you do lose is the customization ability on separate computers. Without this, you can have just one filtering policy over the entire network. Frankly, I do miss that feature of the other Netgear routers. But you can't blame this router which specializes for gaming.

Beyond what I expected from a router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this free of charge as part of Netgear's First Look review program. The setup process was very simple to complete without any issue. I was afraid of needing technical skills of setting it up when I first saw this router, which is specialized for gaming/technical purpose, but it was a lot easier than it seemed. Having a dashboard of all the information related to the network usage and controlling it through the router without any extra effort is something I never experienced with any router in the past. All the feature seemed to be doing what it is supposed to do when I tried out manually, but I wasn't able to fully test all feature in-depth because I'm pretty much the only one playing game in the house without a lot of extra connection to the network other than phones/laptops. One thing I noticed was that I never had a connection lost issue caused by this router itself on the wireless connection when my previous router needed rebooting time to time. As a person who never really had a router specifically boosting the gaming experience, I can now understand why people are willing to spend more money even for a router. Cons: With this router in hand, I can't blame on the router/network issue anymore.

Great but not if you have more than 20 devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great router and some great speeds. It is one of the best routers for managing what devices does get the attention and are able to monitor what is going on. But when I tried to connect several smart devices it couldn't take much without restarting and loosing connection. It seems to be able to handle about 15 to 19 devices without problems but 20 seems to disconnect. I would have selected on the menu to lower the priority on the smart devices but if it doesn't accept all 20 devices it is not a router I could use. But as mention seems to be great on managing and being able to prioritize gaming. I do like the dumasOS and had great expectations but seems was not for this case. I would still recommend but the amount of devices would depend on recommendation.

Read Netgear support forums on this product before
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router has such potential and for many it works great. For many others it doesn't. Don't believe me go read all the references to intermittent connectivity (disconnects from both wired/wireless) and all of the running around they put you through. The price of this router dictates that it should be awesome but isn't. Not saying it is garbage, as it isn't but the fact that the community forums just keep running folks in circles, with pretty much a "try this" now "try that" is not a fix. People don't pay this kind of money to have to jump through all of those hoops to make something work like it should. Not everyone has hours and hours to jack around with something that should do what it was designed to do out of the box for the most part. Junking my $250 paperweight for something that does not have integrated wifi.

wi fi range
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced this router 3 times the first was because of a sale had to take it back get $100 off, the second unit worked ok but the wi/fi ranges is horrible I live in a single lvl home 1300 sq feet set it up in one side of the house would not reach to the other side even with a range extender so took it back replaced with another one the 3rd one was a little better but not a lot, I pay for 300 Mbps with my isp cable. I placed this new router in the same spot as my old net gear router had no problem reaching to the other side of the house including outside this thing can barley do half my house and you can forget about getting outside for three times the cost of my old router C'mom, now I do have it hard wired to ps4 and works good and the wireless works good in the same room but that is the extent of it. In my opinion if your looking for a router for gaming and also want a good wireless connection through the house look elsewhere but it is great for gaming in a small room

Fast and Fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router is Fast!! Set up was easy as 123 like always with Netgears family of products. Ran my new gamer on this set up , tested both wired and wireless. There was no difference in response time , was able to game both ways with no lag. Still playing with the software, lots of new settings to look at with distance settings.

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is amazing I've been gaming for years and always had internet problems. Especially with Cox, but this beast seems to seemingly destroy 99% of lag and pocketing thrown it's way. I have the 1 gigabyte internet with 3 TVs, 3 xboxs, 3 phones, a switch, thermostats, alarm and 2 fire sticks connected to it and it runs like a dream. BEST QOS SYSTEM TO DATE.
