great router for large home and solid transmission for all devices easy to use and setup

By Walter Edinger needed a new WiFi router since old Motorola Gateway died and the guys at BestBuy and my own reviews directed me to this and 2 weeks so far the unit has performed to expectation. we are not gamers but do a lot of streaming of movies and shows.

This router was straightforward to set up. The Nighthawk Up app was helpful to install the router. We have had no problems with access anywhere in our 4 bedroom house or back yard. We used to have Fast Ethernet (100Base-T) with our old Cisco router, but now we have Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) with this unit. Very happy with it's performance.

Works good, never have had to reset it. Has an amazing app you can do a lot with, including the best looking network map I have ever seen.

My Apple router went out after several years. I wanted something that would give better coverage. My home has three levels. This Nighthawk router performs better than I expected. I get coverage on all levels without an extender. I also get great streaming performance for my 4K TVs. Great product!

I had a standard router from the cable company, it would not allow for Wi-Fi throughout my entire house. Using PS4 and/or Xbox online upstairs was impossible . This router works awesome covers all 5000 ft.² , main floor , basement and upstairs. Very happy with this product ! I contacted Netgear for help setting up the router. They were extremely helpful , Great tech-support !

Performance exceeds cable co. router. Faster and no drop out, yet.

This is my second R7000 Nighthawk. My first one lasted 4 years before it stopped working. There's some pro's and cons. Pro's: 1- It's fast and easy to set up. 2- It can handle multiple gaming and streaming devices at once. 3- Use the Netgear community! They're a great resource of help and info. Cons: 1- New firmware updates are rarely stable and you'll almost never be able to run the most current firmware without having your router shutting off. 2- Tech support was not entirely helpful and it's only 30 days free tech support (this is where the community helps a lot). All that said, I'll share my latest experience with Netgear support and the R7000. As I said my old one failed after 4 years (this is typical and normal for all routers). I purchased another R7000. They changed the set-up process where you can no longer set up through a LAN connection, but need to use the app. I'm not a fan of this, but it works. The install was easy and I was running in a few minutes. The next day (day 2) my router shut off and reset twice. I made some adjustments to my configuration. The following day (day 3) it happened again. I called tech support, they were ZERO help, but said to call back if it continues. Day 4 it dropped multiple times. I called tech support back and was given the next level "expert". They had me make more changes to my router and said call back if it didn't work. It continued shutting off that night so I called tech support first thing in the morning (day 5). I was given the next level "expert". Once again more changes made and was told to call back if the issue persists. An hour later it shut off again. I called back immediately and the 4th level "expert" told me I needed a new router. I told them it was only a few days old. They said it's under warranty so it would be free. They said I would just need to pay return shipping! I told them absolutely NOT! It's their router and I will not pay to have their bad router returned when i can take it back to the store for a replacement. Then all of a sudden she said I didn't need to pay return shipping, but I would be without a router until my new one came in... Nope. I just returned it and told the store what was going on and the manufacturer said it was defective. I got a replacement with no issues from Best Buy (great customer service)! I setup the new router (easy) and was good for 3 days before it it shut off and reset. During the next 4 days it happened 3 more times. Now I knew it was most likely an unstable firmware that they're using as their most recent update. Every previous "expert" made sure I had the latest firmware. This time I checked the community pages for the most stable version and installed that version without contacting tech support. It's been over a month and I haven't had any issues. So, the router is great once working, tech support is mediocre, but my main issue is that Netgear doesn't seem to check for stability before releasing firmware and their "experts" don't try reverting to check for stability. The router is actually a good router though. Just be ready to look for a stable firmware if you start having issues. I'd give it 5 stars if they can start ensuring better tech support and testing for firmware stability.

Wireless coverage over whole two story house. Great software. Easy to see what components are connected. Firmware updates easy to get and install, almost automatic.

So my old Netgear router was on its way out and after doing some research I purchased this one. The speed boost on the wifi for cell phone downloads is super fast. I did some tests on speedtest.net and was getting 50mb per second download speeds. It also comes with the dual band connection and has a website address where you can login and actually mess with the router settings.

I get much better coverage at higher speeds. This router is awesome.

Easy to use for a non-techie like me. Set up was a breeze

I was looking to improve my streaming speed and this router has helped. I get less buffering on video streams and the set-up was fairly easy. I am not a electronics geek but I managed to get this set up in 15-20 min. I do not have a problem with coverage in my small house, but I understand the range of this router is excellent.

I was unsure of which wireless router to purchase until I had found this one. The R7000 seemed to be the least expensive from the rest of the Nighhawk series but a good bang for the buck. Not only has connectivity improved but also range. I recommend this router as a must have to your home network.
