I hooked this item up as directed, hit the WPS button on it & my router in the time required, and it did not work to make the internet reach the computer which was about 50 feet away from router.

Had so many problems trying to connect it to my Uverse. Had so much interference that it became almost impossible. After lots of troubleshooting through different avenues decided to return the product and buy a mesh system which I am now happy with.

Just like most of the Netgear stuff I owned.....it works well until it doesn't. 90 day warranty is about the worst I've ever seen for a new product, let alone a new and "high end" product.

Extender would connect, but prevented internet access (which was the primary purpose.) Online investigation showed other users having the same issue - attempted to try some of the solutions, but nothing worked. Signed on to Netgear 'Community' but no resolution - the website itself sent me in circle after circle. Returned the item and never going back.

Not satisfied at all with this wifi extender. Does not provide any additional coverage for my wifi upon connection. Maybe it's just operator error but I followed the instructions to plug in a location and check LED display for good service area. Still doesn't help with the buffering in my upstairs bedroom.

Not a fan of this Wi-Fi extender. At least once a week I have take it back to the Wi-Fi router and reset up everything like I first bought it. The range is not very good ether. For $140.00 I would think this would be bullet proof and have zero problems.

Better than previous dual band extender

I purchased this mesh extender to provide better coverage in a large single story home. We have 15 wireless devices in our home and needed the upgrade. This mesh extender has 4 antennas, faster processing, tri band and mu-mimo. I added this to a network with a new TP-Link AC4000 router and a Netgear CM700 modem. I am now able to enjoy the full 100Mbs download speed from Sprectrum anywhere in our house. The equipment from Sprectrum is insufficient for a large home with multiple devices supporting online gaming and HD streaming. I have my Xbox One S connected to the Netgear extender with a Cat6 Ethernet cable. My Xbox now gets pings in the 20s. I tested my setup by streaming Netflix HD on two TVs, YouTube HD on a laptop and online gaming all at the same time without any buffering or lag! My old setup was the Spectrum combo router/modem bridged to a Netgear AC1900 router and a Netgear AC1200 dual band extender. My old setup could not handle multiple streams at once and we experienced buffering and gaming problems. I would recommend purchasing the warranty on this Netgear product only because it’s a fairly new product without many reviews at the time of this posting. My only complaint is that you need an android device to use the Netgear WiFi Analytics app.

    Troublesome Wifi

    Posted .

It does not know how to connect to a 5GHz wifi AP. Forums suggest that the wifi extender can only use channel 157. Even after moving the router's wifi to channel 157 from auto, it still doesn't work. Factory reset does not work, AT ALL. I doing the push pin reset 4 or 5 times and it still uses previously configured settings. The UI is so barebones as to be unusable. It does not allow you to change the AP connection settings once configured using the "smart" setup. Which means in order to change anything you have to redo the entire setup. (This is before the extender went bonkers and needed a factory reset. Now this is a moot point for me.) Overall, this device is such a HEADACHE. Running the latest firmware 1.0.0.188

Perhaps I misunderstood the instructions, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to turn on SmartConnect, which from what I understand, can be problematic, but my internet got worse. Back to the store it goes this afternoon.
