Enjoy The Router's Unique Look But Don't Buy
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two Netgear (Nighthawk) routers a month or two apart. They each were for a separate location. I found the setup to be easy so long as you used the application. In my case it was iOS application for Netgear. As I said, it was straight forward. All went fine for a few months except that I began to have problems with them. At location 1 is used the R800P and location 2 I used the R8000. I couldn't use the support that offered within the 90 period and I missed out on the assistance from Netgear for R8000 as I hadn't purchased one of Netgears not-so-inexpensive supplemental support. I apparently purchased the Netgear extended warranty for the R800P; I don't recall doing this but I was happy since the R8000P had also given me trouble. For both routers, for instance, I had unknown devices attaching to my network at location 2. At location 1, the router could not maintain consistent connection. For both, after first-connect and auto-join activated, I would the next time around not automatically join the network consistently. Instead I had to try multiple times before it would accept the credentials. I was out of luck with the R8000 as I had no recourse but to try unsuccessfully to get support from Netgear. But they have different tiers of support (phone, on-line chat, ask-the-community forum, or speak with an Netgear expert). Since I had no support for the R8000 I could not get beyond providing my information and being told I had no support option available other than asking "the Netgear community." It turns out that the country code the Router identified to was not the US. I don't know if this was a reason for my problems with the experience with the R8000 because I couldn't confirm it with Netgear and the "community" could only confirm that this is a known issue but purely a regulatory one that wouldn't affect my product or wifi. I found the country code mismatch via network check feature to see if it could diagnose a problem. It immediately flagged the wrong country code as an issue and listed reasons. No amount of resetting or firmware upgrades changed the issue and nobody at Netgear could help. As for the R8000P, I got a replacement router that was identical except it could have been refurbished per information provided through Netgear's disclosure of replacement products. That replacement gave me even more problems as it refused to update firmware although the app would clearly identify the router continued to operate under outdated security. The application would tell me to update firmware, I would do it, the router would for two minutes reboot after the "successful" update only to get a message after reboot that the router had not been updated and to click on a banner within the app to reattempt the update. It never updated. So I went to the on-line Netgear community for help and was told this too was a known issue and that if the app didn't work then I should download the firmware update from Netgear's site via an ethernet connection to a get the files necessary to install it. I did that too but I got to the same place, that is nowhere. The download went fine, but when I would attempt to load the software into the router login interface I would get a message alerting me that the firmware was being updated. But before I knew it, the router would "finish" the update and begin to reboot, at which point the firmware remained unchanged. As I had no longer the option to seek online or phone support, I was stuck with two malfunctioning routers that cost me too much for such a lousy experience. While they might look cool and top-notch, for me they were a massive disappointment. From the product itself, to Netgear support, I don't feel it kept up its end of the bargain: I buy your product, you agree it will work as advertised. It took a while before I could purchase another router due to costs and other considerations such as I had two new routers and hoped I could somehow make them work or that the updates would come sooner. Alas, it never did and I bought a new router a little close to two weeks ago. Two thoughts from now having a new router: 1) "Oh, so this is how a good router is supposed to work," and 2) "I am so upset with Netgear" since my new router offers a 3 year warranty at no extra costs and the application has a "help" feature to connect with support. An expensive lesson learned. I hope Netgear can pull it together to improve their service and their product. My advice is purchaser beware and stay away from this router.

What a difference!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went in to replace the older router that I had. Although I had my eye initially on another router, a chat with the sales associate caused me to spend a bit more and get the Nighthawk. Setup was a breeze and in a very short time everything was up and running more quickly than it had before. Ford SYNC found the link and hooked up right away -- with the older unit, it just never made the connection. Very pleased with the unit and glad we spent a bit more for more speed and capacity.

Great router! It handles all our wi-fi needs...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We cut the cord with cable. Our next move was to buy a modem and router to replace the rented equipment. We have one gig of internet so we needed something that could handle two X-Boxes and probably fifteen other wi-fi driven electronic devices. I was told this was the best gaming router. Sure I paid more, but I have no lag or loading issues. It just works...

Good Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a good router if you have a lot of different devices streaming. The MU-MIMO comes in handy and the Triband helps with optimizing what devices need to be on what connection. This is a little more powerful than most average individuals need but massive streamers and small business could make use of it just beware of the price but overall a good product.

Pretty Good Router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Price is a bit high. It does perform well. This is my 2nd one. 1 month before my manufacture warranty was going to run out the first NightHawk router failed to update the Firmware and had constant signal drops. New firmware update was suppose to fix the signal issues but could not get the unit to take the update manually. I live stream everyday and this was a bit of a problem. By the time I went back and bought another, netgear called, diagnosed the issue. Had me send back the defective unit and replaced it with a new one. Good to know I have a backup now incase one fails but from what I researched these units had an issue at one point with a firmware upload issue. Overall the unit is good and performs very well. Has many features and controls.

awesome router!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say. Easy setup, plug n play with this router. Downloaded the app and scanned QR code on router and the overall setup took no more than 20 minutes. Really like how you can manage your devices and which device gets the strongest signal. I'm an avid gamer so having my PS4 wired in I can already tell the internet speed increased after I ran tests. Definitely getting your money's worth here guys.

Excellent Router and Easy Setup
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had no problems with this router. The throughput is fast and the signal is strong for a large house with a detached room over the garage. Setup was easy. This was used to replace an Asus router which had worked well for years. It was definitely an upgrade since technology has advanced quite a bit. I was able to get a great deal on the router through price matching and have no complaints about it at all.

Nighthawk AC4000 Router is awesome
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the increased bandwidth and coverage this router has great coverage, strong signal without interruptions, and functions well. This was a replacement for a lower level Nighthawk that was 5 years old, and I am pleased with the product and the cost. Netgear has been my router brand for the past 10+ years. Quality products, great tech support when needed

Nighthawk X6S AC4000
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving it, especially after getting it set up (and kudos to the Comcast Xfinity support tech who walked me through the set up). 2.4 has great range, outside the house and into the woods! 5G is blazing fast - over 300 down and 12 up on my iPad (albeit only one room apart from the router). That’s as fast as the hardwire Cat6 connection to my desktop. Highly recommended.

GREAT COVERAGE
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.recently updated from a router modem combo to a seperate modem ant the nighthawk s6s. My wifi coverage and speed have doubled and I do not have any dead spots in my two story 5000 sq foot home. The hook up was very easy and took about 3 minutes. I am consistently showing 200mb download speed before I could not get over 60mb.

Good for lots of devices
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit was bought to replace an older Nighthawk model. I purchased it based on the Tri-band feature and range. It works perfectly for our family and was easy to install. We have no problems with 3 smart TVs, 3 smart phones, 3 PCs, 2 PS4s, a weather station, a tablet and an old ipod. Our home is 2500sq. f. and it covers entirety and well into the yard.

Good router for the money.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy setup process. Pretty good bandwidth and suite of security options such as the armor protect it comes with. It is a little on the pricey side but I think it’s worth the money. Only complaint I have is the antennas are a bit fragile so when you set the router up make sure you set it up in an area where no one can easily access it to avoid damage.

Nighthawk
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great WiFi router, it’s easy to connect and easy to use. I like that it’s tri-band. Everyone in my family can connect to the internet at a fast speed. I also like the rate to upload and download videos. Great device. One more great feature is that you can put a timer on you kids internet usage. The down side is that you have to download another app, but it’s easy to use.

Great coverage and fast wifi
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this router as a replacement for a Linksys router that finally died. I have had many Linksys routers (at least 8) so I was used to the bugs they had such as randomly dropping connections. I was not expecting anything different with the Nighthawk but it has been WAY better than any router I’ve had before. The connections are continuous and the signals are strong throughout my house
