Absolute terrible router compatibility

The trade off for convenience to robust features is absolutely not worth it at this price point.

Netgear happily bricks your $800 router with bad f

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this premium WiFi router with the expectation that I was going to get a premium experience and care-free operation. Wouldn’t you expect the same given the price? Nope. Netgear is notorious for poor quality control of their software, and over the last few weeks Netgear has bricked (permanently broken) many customers’ Orbi routers by uploading bad firmware updates – first a bad firmware Version 4.6.7.13, and then they doubled down with a worse firmware update V4.6.8.2 that fully locks you out of accessing the router. Netgear automatically updates the firmware on your router which sounds convenient, until they push bad software. That is when Netgear’s 90-day cutoff for support starts to feel as short as it is, leaving you to troubleshoot on your own. And if you do connect with their version of tech support, it is over a flakey connection that drops every 10 minutes because you are talking to someone in India. And if you’ve owned your router for more than a year then you are "out of warranty" and their proposed solution is for you to purchase a new one. So, if you are comfortable spending $600-$1,000 every year on your WiFi router, and replacing it when Netgear uploads bad software, then this is your brand and model.
