This really offered more speed and offered wifi to more of our outdoor space. It's a huge improvement over the last ORBI system we had and we were happy with it but it was maxing out on the number of wifi devices we had in our home. It was time to upgrade....good decision.

    Disable 5ghz

I bought the mesh system to connect to all my appliances and smart devices like Wemo light switches. I worked with Orbi technical support and there is no way to disable the 5ghz network to program the devices that only operate 2.4 ghz. To program these devices, your phone must be on the network you want the device to connect to. There is not way to tell my phone to connect to 2.4 ghz network to transfer this information to the switch. The range and speed of the network was amazing but if you cannot connect your devices, it is pointless.I now have to return the product to get a mesh system that allows this option.

      Hi James,

Thank you for the feedback on connecting your 2.4Ghz devices. While your devices should connect to 2.4Ghz automatically if they do not support 5Ghz. You are not able to disable the 5Ghz band, but we can help look into ways to get this to work better for you. Please email us at netgearteam@netgear.com

      Thank you,

It took a bit longer to set up than I thought and have been unable to get the Netgear Armor installed for some reason - even tech support had to port into my laptop to try a backend solution, All that said, when I am able to get a steady internet signal from Xfinity the download speeds are outstanding. It also has pretty good range and I will look to add an exterior satellite if/when available to give us coverage into our backyard. Since I was going from a nighthawk it was easy to replicate the name of the router (and password) so all our connected devices could easily reconnect.

Easy and fast set up with great speeds. 2 is definitely enough for a 2500sq ft house. Upgraded from eero pro to these since my eeros were having issues keeping a connection.

Love the ease of installation and the stability of Orbi mesh WiFi 6. We tried a three unit mesh system from another manufacturer and spent weeks and many hours on the phone with tech support trying to get it to work reliably. Finally returned it and got the Orbi RBK852 and we are so glad that we did. Set up was a breeze and we now get great WiFi speed everywhere in the house. Our Orbi is also very stable and reliable. We recently had an internet service interruption, as soon as internet was restored, the Orbi router and the Orbi satellite came back on line with no action required by us. Absolutely love the Orbi, no more WiFi problems!

This is the first Wifi system that has been able to cover our whole house! We have tried different systems and there were always dead spots in the house due old house construction and the amount of lath and plaster. This system reaches all 3 floors and the basement with no dead spots. Finally!!

I had an original Orbi Mesh. I had that attached to a AT&T modem/router. At various times throughout the day, the router would appear to reboot and we'd lose our internet. Replaced the router--SAME problem continued to occur. Since it presumably wasn't the router, I decided to replace the Orbi Mesh. Needed upgrading anyway, Took the plunge and haven't had a problem since. The power (signal distance) is remarkable--outside I'd have to sit fairly close to the house to get a decent signal, now I can go anywhere and still get great transfer rates. Works great with my Laptop too, there are literally no dead spots in the house (2700 ft^2). Highly recommended, even though it's pricey. If you're having drops or weak spots in your wifi, get this Orbi mesh--either the 2 or 3 pack. You won't be disappointed. Disclaimer: I do computers for a living and networking, so setting this up and getting it working properly wasn't difficult. I see by other reviews others have.

Dealing with COVID-19 we needed to upgrade/replace our router system for me and my 3 roommates who are all working from home now full time. This has worked great so far! Notes: - I was nervous because there were a fair amount of 1 star reviews saying there was software and connection issues. I have experienced none of those so I think they may be all ironed out. - Setup was simple and easy. I was up and running within 15 minutes. - I subscribe to Optimum 300 Mbps internet, so the router is basically overkill right now but I’m trying to future proof my setup. So if you are paying for 1000+, I cannot speak to the performance at those speeds. I am at 100%+ speeds near my router. 90%+ at my satellite on the opposite side of my 1,600 sq ft home. - We did a full replacement, so backwards compatibility with old Orbi mesh network routers didn’t matter. At this time I do not believe backwards compatibility is available. - Read a lot about how WiFi 6 is only marginally faster than WiFi 5. With no obstructions that may be true, but my room is in the basement and there is a lot of piping between floors. I have a significant difference between my WiFi 5 laptop (120Mbps) vs my WiFi 6 iPhone 11 Pro (260Mbps). So WiFi 6 is definitely worth it if you are struggling with range and have WiFi 6 devices that can leverage the newer tech. Note that I do not have a satellite in my basement. - First mesh network and I’m a huge fan so far. Single WiFi appears and it automatically puts you on 5GHz or 2.4GHz and seamlessly connects you to the strongest available signal as you move around the house (all while maintaining a second dedicated 5GHz for backhaul mesh network communication between the router and Satellites). - The app is simple and easy to navigate and operated. I like have you can name all the devices so you know exactly who and what is connected. If you have Sonos speakers they show up as unknown, but if you go to the Sonos App in system settings you can pull the MAC address of each speaker and match it up with the MAC address on the Orbi app. I also like that you can track usage. All in all I probably paid too much for what I actually need since I only have 300Mbps internet, but this setup has been crushing it so far. Just ordered another satellite (Directly from Netgear since BB doesn’t have it yet) to boost my connection for non-wifi 6 devices in basement (laptop and Xbox One).

Worth every penny! The system covers my 5,000 sq Ft home with no problems. It was easy to set up and connect. I can use it with many devices and there is no trouble with speed. My cable company provides a gig of service, so I think that helps the overall effect as well.

With 1Gb internet speed This thing is super fast... when it works that is. I tried to love this but the connection always drops out. I never have this issue with my two old Apple Airport Extremes. Never! Plus my PS4 refused to connect to this thing. I researched for hours online and tried everything.. but nope. Never connected to the PS4. I returned and will be avoiding all netgear products. Oh and the price is ridiculous.

Admittedly, this is one of the more pricey systems on the market, but the coverage is excellent. Covers 4000+ sq ft area easily with good bandwidth. Connecting additional devices is super easy using their app which provides good controls over the system, setup, and security.

This is a super fast mesh system. The range is one of the largest that I have seen and the speeds are insane. Only one problem, my devices kept dropping internet but not wifi and some of my devices could not even connect as it could not find the SSID. Countless hours on the phone with Netgear tech support. No FIX. Return back to best buy.
