I would give this a 4.5 stars but cannot. This router and satellite is amazing. This really takes advantage of my 1g speeds. The range is amazing fully covered beyond the house.
5stars.
However, the application they direct you to use will not work for set up. If you set up and after update you cannot access these through the app. Just plug into the router and access this through 192.168.1.1 (admin/pass) and finish the update there. For the price point you don’t expect this.
4stars.
Overall I love this and it works greats for covering my 3 floors I needed covering, but it’s a bit expensive.

A wonderful set of MESH Network & WiFi Systems

These are probably the easiest mesh Wi-Fi routers to install. You basically take them straight out of the box plug them in and you can log into them with the default IP address and select manual configuration and set this up yourself. If you are an advanced user. If you are a novice user you can use the cellular phone app either on android or Apple and it will take you through the steps to set them up. I purchased this item to cover a 4800 square-foot house and with my 450 make a bit down Internet connection. My Wi-Fi speeds are at 325 Mb down on all my devices. I have selected both my 2.4 and my 5.0 wireless networks to SSID identified as the same name. Coverage is enter end of the home and top and bottom floors. I have one Netgear unit upstairs and one Netgear unit downstairs and it completely floods the entire home with perfect Wi-Fi signal. I like that these units give you a status with the LED right below the Orbi logo. Overall, they do a wonderful job and have no glitches so far. Remember when you install this for the first time, make sure to do all the firmware updates to the device and make sure that you change the default login password. I couldn’t be any more happier with these devices, and they do just perfect.

Let me talk you into Orbi

Look. I’m not going to sit here and dissect the intricacies of tri-band mesh networking.
I will however relate to you some simple thoughts.
First, as a user base it’s my wife and I with about 18 devices in a two story home with sheet rock walls. You can imagine the amount of airplay, smart thermostat, smart light (granted it’s Hue, so no network bandwidth really) gaming, hi-res streaming, video calling (she and I both work from home variably), etc that happens. It’s a lot, and our network is constantly being utilized by something.
Orbi handles this like a dream and with just about zero setup involved.
Second, two stories of sheet rock is a BEAR to cut through. I haven’t found anything that will do it until Orbi. The way they have the third band backloading the mesh traffic is…well eloquent and kind of magical. Goodbye dead zones, goodbye buffering media and dropped calls. We can pull downstairs the same data rates that we pull upstairs 12 inches from the router.
Orbi is the best for this…short of dropping Cat 6 in all of your walls and installing an Orbi Pro (or cough Ubiquiti dream machine and WAP setup cough) in your home. This setup was built for the home and for individuals who don’t want to have to learn python and a bit of JSON to get their router to do what they need. Ok that’s an exaggeration, but you get what I mean.
Which brings me to third and last… I am an IT Professional by trade, and oversee enterprise grade everything under the sun for a medium sized corporation. I’ve seen amazing networks and the worst. I enjoy coming home and not having to think about it (I know, weird right).
Here are some cons for those who are glass half empty like me:
-If you’re a gamer like me and need to be able to geo fence to a 300 sq mile radius for pinging that disgustingly close server…yea this isn’t for you. Netgear XR 1000 is amazing with Duma OS, but it’s not mesh…and that’s why Orbi rules. Solid speeds everywhere.
-if you, like me (but I’m letting it go) like to split your network allocation manually (or god forbid setup VLANs at home)…this router definitely isn’t for you. You cannot split the 2.4ghz and 5ghz. You have to let the Orbi handle it. So this con, is not much of one, because it does it really well for the most part.
-Last con…cost…but cmon…it works, and good luck finding a piece by piece setup that will net you near 1:1 speed in every foot of your home (and 45ft outside your home for that matter, it’s intense)

Hands down the BEST Wi-Fi 6 router on the market today - especially if you use IoT devices.
Let’s get the obvious thing out of the way - the PRICE. The Orbi RBK852 is very expensive (probably overpriced) however if money is no object then this is the one to get. It’s pretty much “plug n play” using the Orbi app.
While, by design, the Orbi settings are limited (compared to ASUS routers) there is really no need to tinker with anything because sometimes LESS IS MORE. What I mean by this is that the Orbi just flat out works and works right out of the box. Just set it and forget it. However if you wish to make some settings adjustments (or cycle through them) you can log in via the website gui and click on the “advanced” tab. This offers you more settings options than just using the Orbi app. FYI.
All of my devices connected flawlessly and I’m surpassing my advertised/max ISP speeds. Gaming, streaming, surfing, video calls, etc - the Orbi RBK852 does not even flinch or hiccup. And this while using a wireless backhaul to the satellite (upgrading to wired backhaul next week for even better, if possible, performance).
After much research and deliberation my choice came down to the Orbi RBK852 and the ASUS XT8. Could t decide so I purchased BOTH and tested each mesh system in my environment. As a long time ASUS user, I was very familiar with their products and all the settings/configuration options that is available with ASUS routers.
However after a few days I was getting random disconnects and my IoT devices kept dropping (using Apple HomeKit). Became really frustrating because I really wanted to like the ASUS XT8 because it’s aesthetically more pleasing than the Orbi, has more settings options, significantly cheaper and included FREE router security (Trend Micro). But the range and performance was a bit disappointing and the AiProtection caused some lagging and slowdown when enabled.
Then I plugged in the Orbi RBK852 and talk about night and day difference. Wow! All my HomeKit devices worked flawlessly and I got better range and wireless performance compared to the ASUS XT8. In addition the Netgear Armor router security worked like a charm. No noticeable slowdown whatsoever.
In conclusion if you get get over the insanely high price point, it’s really hard to find something better out there than the Orbi RBK852. It’s super user friendly and it does what it’s supposed to do - delivers blazing fast speeds and keeps your devices connected! After all isn’t this the point of a router/mesh system?!

So far so good. I had my old Netgear cm something from 7 years ago fry last month. I upgraded to cm1200. Also got cox gigablast finally. Then I decided to upgrade from my old orbi wifi 5 to this- wifi 6. Did my old wifi 5 still work and get coverage? Yes, that and had 40+ devices going. But I saw a noticed increase in speed after upgrading. I am doing all wireless. I could have spent more on the rb860 or the 1500 series, and if you just have extra money and want the best, go get it. But for 3000 sq ft house/acre lot, I am getting great range /speed on the 850 and 2 satellites.

Great coverage and speeds throughout my home. I've run them in both Mesh and ethernet backhual and they get the job done. I pull a steady 300-600 mbps download when connected to wifi and at least a gig when hardwired.
Interface is easy to use when in through the app and also offers access through the gateway IP via a web browser.
All in all, a must have if you care about your network and have a ot of devices. When these go, i'll definitely be getting these or the newer model

The Orbi System works great. The setup for the Orbi system is very easy, you do not have to be tech savvy at all. I had a Nighthawk 8000 for my two story house that worked well but we had a lot of dead spots upstairs. I read up on the Orbi system and just decided to try out the system. The best decision I made, our internet connection is great throughout the entire house now. Downstairs abd Upstairs!!

Great Mesh router but missing some special feature
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Setup:
Download the Orbi app to your phone before you hook up and setup Orbi Wifi 6.
Run an Orbi app and follow instructions on the screen. It's very easy.
Features
Missing Circle with Disney and Netgear Armor. It's very helpfully if I can setup 2.4GHz and 5Ghz networks separately or control them. Missing hidden wifi feature. Need a light in the front to show that Orbi is on and works properly.
Performance
Wifi signal is really strong and great download and upload speed. I did a couple of tests and everything above my speed. Usually, I only get about 100-150 Mbps but now it doubles my speed.
The wifi signal met my expectations, due to some feature is missing it does not meet my expectations for the price.
The price is too high because it misses two features.
I will recommend this device to my friends and family who only need strong wifi signal coverage for there home.

Best I have ever used! I have the eero Pro first gen and they work OK. I went out and purchased the eero Pro 6 thinking it would be even better, wrong. We had connection issues and speeds were just a little better when connected. Several of our 36 devices could not stay connected. I returned it and decided to take the plunge and buy these AX6000's. WOW are we impressed! This is the fastest and most reliable system we have ever used! I have fios 1000mbs hardline and we are getting 800+ mbs wireless! Connection is solid and range is great. If you guy these, you will not return them. Worth every hard earned penny we spent!

Orbi - Pricey But Worth It

Orbi has been outstanding so far, ~1 month of use and absolutely no complaints. My wife and myself both work from home at the moment and put our bandwidth through heavy periods of usage for cloud-based CAD models and video conferences. With Orbi the 300mb/s from the ISP is sufficient and we haven’t experienced far less connectivity and latency issues since the install. For entertainment, we also exclusively stream content and have had zero issues with connectivity or bandwidth. Note: We do not game, so no info there.
In terms of range, Orbi has been excellent to all areas of the house as well as patio. The Orbi app is very convenient and user-friendly.
It’s expensive but has been well worth it and delivers as advertised IMO - I highly recommend.

A Game-Changer for My Home Network

I recently made the leap from my old Google WiFi mesh system to the Netgear Orbi AX6000 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6, and I can confidently say it's been a game-changer for my home network. After years of slow speeds and connectivity issues with my old system, I was more than ready for an upgrade, especially in my 3,500 square foot home that's spread out over multiple floors.
The first noticeable improvement with the Netgear Orbi AX6000 was the speed. It's like I've entered the fast lane of the internet highway. Streaming, gaming, and even simple web browsing have all seen a significant boost in performance. The difference is night and day compared to my previous setup, and I couldn't be happier.
One of the main selling points of the Orbi AX6000 is its tri-band technology, and it truly shines in my large home. The main floor, where most of my devices are located, experiences flawless connectivity. Even with multiple devices streaming, video conferencing, and online gaming simultaneously, there's no lag or dropped connections. This is precisely what I was hoping for when I made the switch.

I was looking to upgrade from my Google WiFi mesh system to something that supported WiFi 6 which provided both excellent coverage and fast speeds. Since I have >1Gbps speed from my ISP, I wanted to leverage WiFi on more devices since the wireless connection would then be faster than the gigabit Ethernet ports on many wired devices. I found that this model hit the mark. I’ve almost doubled devices running in the network and I’ve seen faster throughout and no network congestion. I highly recommend this specific model as it gives you a strong backhaul to handle all of your streaming and gaming devises simultaneously.

Needed to upgrade the wifi at home for distance learning school and home office use. Also wanted to plan for future 4K TV and 5G fixed wireless option when available. Setup was simple, and the wifi was noticeably faster and more reliable throughout the house, even with the same internet plan. Would have liked more options on the app for parental/device controls. Also, for the price, would have appreciated Armor security to be free rather than through subscription service.

I read most reviews, long time ASUS customer and new to NETGEAR products. I tested both ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) and NETGEAR AX6000 WiFi Mesh System (RBK853), I just could not justify the savings versus the performance I get the RBK853. For about a week using the Orbi, I have never rebooted the router and performance is just mind blowing, moolah well spent in my opinion. I have a Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 system I get to enjoy getting the full benefits of the speeds I get from my internet provider. I sincerely believe you get what you pay for, I was hesitant at first due to the cost but now with all the holiday discounts I was able to get a good price and enjoy what most our missing!
