Product is revolutionary! Has totally revamped my home network. I’m getting speeds up to 980 mbps throughout my home! My XBox games install in minutes!! Worth the money in my opinion! Only con was the initial setup. Little frustrating. Had to set it up twice.

    Pure garbage

These are pure garbage. I replaced an old velop mesh router with this and regretted it. It worked ok for 2 months. Then the tech support expried. They wanted $180 to support this device. Despite having an active hardware warranty. They would talk to me. Lots of devices wouldnt connect. The range got really weak. Then finally bandwidth was at about 30mb no matter what when i had 1gb at the modem. Ultimately the company didnt help and i returned it to best buy and got a deco which was instantly better. Best buy should pull this product.

Easy installation if you don't change the name until you finish the installation. The app works great and the orbi covers over 3500 sq ft and outside. It is more expensive than others but worth the price if you have a large house with two stories and multiple walls.

This system does not outperform much less expensive mesh systems. Withouth getting too techical 5ghz and 6ghz wifi are super sensitive and a lot of factors will impact your individual experience with it and the way clients behave. All of the important settings you would need to be able to tweak to get it dialed in for a particular house are not user changeable settings and their AI does a poor job of managing them. If you want the kind of performance they promise with wifi 7 tri band you need to go with Ubiquity equipment and have the patience to set it up. Ironically it isn’t even that much more expensive than this Orbi setup.

Firmware is a mess, support is worse

Bugs in device tables that self corrupt every 45 mins. Devices disconnect randomly. Roaming in the house causes denial of service attacks by devices on the network. I factory reset 4 times, didnt change anything. Support said one of my my problems was parental controls that i activated (free trial) but they refused to remove all traces of parental controla from my account to enable functionaility in the router web UI. They sked for pictures of dhcp assigned 0.0.0.0 IP addresses, which i couldn’t do because parental controls is enabled - and then said i should ask them to remove it. Wow, the actual title of the ticket is exactly that and they refused several times more! They closed one support ticket out of the blue with no response, then referenced it in a response to a new ticket but told me to do the same things that already didn’t work that were documented in the referenced case. And still wouldn’t address firmware issues or remove parental controls activation. Cant use this junk.

    Expected Better Speed and Stabilit

I upgraded to the Orbi 870 hoping for faster speeds, but honestly I didn’t see any significant improvement over my old Orbi 753. My internet performance feels about the same, and in some areas it even seems slower. Additionally, I’ve had connectivity issues with my Blink cameras — they struggle to stay connected to this router, and overall the network feels less stable and smooth compared to my old Orbi.

The product works great and was a simple swap from my previous Orbi. It's been my experience over the past 20 years, these seem to die (or have severe degradation of performance) at 5 years. Was hoping that the previous Orbi may have lasted longer given it was a pricey mesh system, but alas here we are. Imagine in 5 I'll be here again.

Over the course of a work week, I lost 30 hours rebooting and troubleshooting this system. It would function properly for a few days then the system would go down or I’d lose a satellite. I finally went back to my old system and stuck with it as I’m unable to return since just after Best Buy’s return window. Google common issues with this system before considering.

      Hi BenJamin,

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback and we want you to know that your experience is important to us. We are sorry to hear that you are having a difficult experience with your RBE873 system going down and disconnecting your satellite. We recommend unplugging your RBE873 Router from your modem and performing a full power cycle of your Orbi WiFi System as well as modem. When your modem comes back online then reconnect your RBE873 Router to the modem, checking to ensure all cables are firmly attached and in good condition. We also recommend ensuring your Router and Satellites are on the most recent firmware v10.5.20.4 and then re-sync your Router and Satellites, beginning in the same room and moving out towards their intended destinations. For more information, please visit the following links: https://kb.netgear.com/000068426/, and also: https://kb.netgear.com/31018/How-do-I-sync-my-Orbi-router-and-satellite.

Dropped everyday. Nearly hourly. It was the worst router experience of my life. I used to love Orbi, but something changed over at Netgear. Thank goodness too. The 870 failed so bad that it motivated me to return it. I found the ASUS BE30000 and that's like a real router. I can actually adjust the transmit power of the nodes or even adjust when a client needs to bind or push to another node based on signal loss. ASUS even let's the end user set up a reboot schedule to keep the router fresh. So thank you Netgear for forcing me into a relationship with ASUS. I haven't dropped once and it's been a wonderful experience.

We're sorry to hear that you had problems with your RBE873 dropping everyday and have already returned it.
