Customers are saying

Customers regard the Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System highly for its ease of use, extensive coverage and range, and strong signal strength, leading to consistently good performance and reliable WiFi. The setup process is also praised for its simplicity. However, a common concern is the relatively high price point.

Owned less than a week. Setup is a snap with the app, though could be a tad clearer. 40/5 service which dropped to 25/1 in some areas is now 40/5 throughout the house and even at an outbuilding some 50 feet from the far end of the house. Elated at this point. Only complaint - paid $349, less than a week later on sale for $299.

Easy Set-Up + No More Dead WiFi Zones

This is my first mesh WiFi system and I couldn't be happier. Previously I had been using a traditional WiFi router. It worked... but I couldn't get a strong WiFi signal in all parts of my house. In fact, in my bedroom I would get such slow WiFi speeds that I would usually get some buffering happening whenever I watched shows at night with my wife. Setting this up was a breeze. Downloading the app gives you a step-by-step process on how to get everything set up, including the satellites. Think of the satellites as WiFi extenders... without the need for your device or computer to have to disconnect and reconnect to another network. It's seamless and that's so appreciated! Our WiFi speeds also improved after installing this product, going from ~110 Mbps to ~130 Mbps. That's without any type of change to our Comcast agreement. Pretty cool how it was able to do this. All in all, I'm super happy with the performance of this system. I'm going to look into purchasing another satellite to gain full coverage at my home. I received this product as part of NETGEAR’s First Look Review Program.

I recently upgraded to 1GB fiber, but it comes in in my basement. In my office on the 2d floor, I'm getting a decent signal, around 210Meg symmetrical on 5GHz. I was looking to up that speed a little, so I looked into mesh systems and this was one that came highly recommended. At about 2800 sq ft for my house it should actually be overkill, but in reality, it left me completely underwhelmed, so back it went. Overall the Orbi network was quite a bit slower than coming off my current router coming in at 130M down and 26M up in the office. On the first floor near Sat1 (only about 10 feet from the base shooting through wood floor) I got about 250 up/down. At the base, 500 or so up/down. I'm a networker myself and have implemented many wifi systems so I made sure my shots between satellites and the base were clear. Just a wood floor to sat one and an empty staircase to sat two. Should be a piece of cake for a 5GHz mesh backhaul right? Nope. Sat one (closest) got a 5G haul, but there was nothing I could do to get Sat 2 out of 2.4G even when it was only about 20 feet away. Even swapping them didn't help. Upstairs never got past "poor" for the connection and 2.4GHz. I called Netgear support and their suggestion was to run a wire for the backhaul, but avoiding pulling cable was why I bought the thing in the first place. I could just use the switch off my router if I wanted to do that, which sadly it appears I'll need to do to get better speed. On the good side, setup was a piece of cake. Took about 5 minutes and I did everything on my phone. The web page doesn't have anything extra so you don't even need to go there. If it just had the speed to match the hype, it might be worth it, but in my experience, no.

Set up confusing. Makes you set up password. Then will ask for password on bottom of unit. If you don't catch what they are asking for, will get frustrated inputting password you made up. Not sure if speed if Wi FI made a difference. Too expensive for what it does.

Good product / terrible customer service

I purchased this wifi system several months ago and have been using it for working from home as my kids (4) stream videos, tv, xbox, etc. It has been a good system and I would recommend the hardware. Unfortunately, Netgear's customer service is terrible. I recently paid for the annual Armor Protection security feature. I only get an error message though when I try to access that feature in the app. I have called several times in an attempt to get this resolved. The number leads to a foreign call center. They seem to have no idea what the error message is and so far, have done nothing to assist. The service side tells me it's a technical support issue and the technical support side tells me it's a customer service issue. They either tell me to call back and select the other option, or they transfer me. Today, the technical support side transferred me. I waited on hold for a service person and once they answered and I gave them my case number, they simply hung up on me. Neither has done anything to address the problem, refund my money, etc. If you think you will never have a support issue, the product so far has been very good. However, if you appreciate good customer support, look elsewhere.

Broke after 7 months. No warrranty period at all!

This worked great and them stopped working, suddenly, for no explicit reason. Other peripherals connected are fine. When I went to get support, they tried the friendly, buy a tech support policy to discuss the failure. When I declined, they said Netgear has no warranty on this item. None. You get 90 days tech support, and no warranty. No RMA process, nothing. I filed a claim with AMEX, will see what happens. Best Buy should disclose that this and maybe other NETGEAR items have NO WARRANTY.

    Buyer Beware

We purchased this 6 months ago and it has given us nothing but problems. It keeps disconecting, doesn't have accurate parental control. I get at LEAST one notification a day telling me that the Orbi has been disconnected... If I could return it, I would have. Don't buy it!

    Hot Trash

I was super optimistic for this purchase considering the price and the rave reviews. Connected and everything was working until I started doing more thorough tests. Wifi connection within the same room as the router (not the satellites) was getting 70-80 mbps on a 1 gigabit connection. This is not acceptable. Moreover, it was not until I got it all hooked up that I found out it is not compatible with TP Link unmanaged router switches. So ultimately for $300 you get slow paperweights. I could not return this trash quick enough.

broke in less than a year and you only get customer service for 90 days then they require you to PAY for customer service!!! What is that?!?! I have to pa you to fix your product when it randomly breaks? No thank you. Will never buy another NetGear product after this fiasco.
