Best whole house WiFi coverage ever

If you've read other reviews raving about the WiFi coverage and speed of this system - they are not lying. I've had several other Netgear routers over the last years, but this is no comparison.
We have a 2100sqft house with the router placed on the 1st floor in one corner of our home office and one satellite placed on the second floor. We have a 100Mbit download, 7Mbit upload cable connection and I get between 70-100 Mbit download and 5-7 Mbit upload throughout the house tested with the Speedtest app on my iPad. This is 50%-80% improvement compared to my older N900 Netgear router.
Setup was a breeze although I have to say I'm very familiar with Netgear's Genie. I didn't even try to use the new mobile app. I had to immediately upgrade the firmware to make use of the guest network. I opted for downloading the firmware from Netgear's support site and do the update manually instead of letting the router/satellite doing it on it's own. I updated the satellite first as recommended and then the router. Absolutely no problem at all. All in all it took me about 30-40 minutes and everything was working.

As the COVID pandemic took hold, our entire family was home more often and using lots of various devices more often for entertainment, school work, and telework. Our previous router was fine until then, but with more devices being used more often, and in more places, the reach was pretty spotty and it was having a challenge with more devices on the network. I actually bought a newer router but that didn't solve the range issue. So I returned it and bought the ORBI which has been great. It was super easy to configure and setting up the satellite was simple as well. One of the reasons I chose the ORBI was I wanted the CIRCLE app on the router to help control and monitor the kids access to the Internet, as I had it on my previous router.
Now I can get full Internet speeds throughout all 3 levels of the house.
tl;dr:
Expensive, but works great and is easy to configure.

Best Router I've Owned

I've had several routers over the years (netgear, Linksys, etc.) and this by far one of the best. Mesh networking is the way to go if you don't want to deal with extenders. Maybe there are better ways to provide excellent coverage but that involves more money and time. For the average person, these mesh systems are perfect. I initially purchased the AC2200 kit but I wanted the ability to hardwire as many devices as I can. Decided to return the AC2200 kit and purchased the AC3000 kit.
As far as coverage, the AC2200 was enough to cover my home (2000sqft) but with the AC3000 the coverage is beyond. WIth the ability to hardwire at the satellite I was able to hardwire a total of 10 of 25 devices (added a switch at the satellite). Makes a world of difference as far as speed with your wifi devices when you can get as many as you can off wifi.
I totally recommend the Orbi wifi kits. The AC2200 works fine but with the AC3000 you can hardwire at the satellite end and has a bit more horsepower as for as coverage distance.

The Orbi base station and satellite combo has been a perfect addition to the weak AT&T wireless gateway I'm stuck with. I now have full coverage and speed in every corner of my 3200 sq ft home. The DMZ+ feature works perfectly with my fiber gateway and is a breeze to set up. I highly recommend this product.

After some research, I chose this unit as a good compromise between price and speed. it was extremely easy to connect and works exceedingly well. Coverage is great through the whole house, and the speed maximizes value from our Internet provider.

I love this router. Not only did it extend the WiFi range, but it increased my connection speeds as well. The Tri-band does a great job managing multiple devices so my kids don’t suck up all the bandwidth. Easy to set up with minimum tech knowledge. Love it. (It also looks cool, so I don’t hide it out of sight.)

I wish I had purchased this a long time ago. I was worried about some reviews about spectrum and about connectivity issues with nest, vivint, my q garage opener and bhyve sprinkler control. I had no issues! Easy set up. Awesome performance and awesome coverage. Well worth the investment

Overall this router works great. Fast speeds. Great coverage.
The only thing I didn’t like was during the setup. I have the main router upstairs connected to my modem and wanted the satellite downstairs. Once I got the primary setup and running and put the satellite downstairs I was getting a lot of interment connection problems and very slow speeds after doing some research and looking at the connection map in the app I noticed that all my issues had to do when connected to the satellite. After moving the satellite all these problems went away but my gripe is the app doesn’t tell you that it’s having connection issues with satellite. It just shows it’s connected but not that it’s poorly connected. This issue almost drove me to return the product and go back to my original router. I feel like for this price point it really just have some way to verify that your placement will allow for optimum connection between cause if you don’t the whole system suffers

I am an IT guy who talked his wife into cutting the cord. Before we did it though I needed to update my infrastructure (Internal networking). We had a Linksys router with a Netgear access point( I know never mixed brands, I know, thanks OCD for speaking up). It worked for normal usage but for streaming full time it was not going to work as well as we needed. I research everything to the end of the internet and back before I purchase. I liked the Orbi as an IT guy I control it all in house. I am not logging into Google, Linksys, or whoever to setup my local router. It has worked great until recently as I am now needing to reboot it often. When I first got it never needed reboot for at least the first year. I am not sure if it is a firmware upgrade or what the issue is. I would give it 5 stars but it was a little to expensive when I got mine for what it actually does but it was the only one out I could configure in house(Thanks anxiety for not being cool).

This new router made a big difference in WiFi coverage throughout my 2600+ sq ft home. Easy setup, improved WiFi connectivity, and we can even stream movies now!
Only con is in aesthetics - units are larger than I would like and visible. But reception compensates for this.

The performance of the Orbi Wi-Fi exceeds what I had expected. Full strength Wi-Fi at the furthest corners of my house and everywhere in between. Very easy to set up. The Orbi on-line community guided me through configuring my existing router to bridge mode. Great product.

This really fixed my wi-fi coverage throughout the house and in the backyard. Easy setup. Also love that you can attach wired devices to both the master and slave unit. One ssid for both units is helpful but other choices are available including guest ssid. Wish it were more reasonably priced though.

I bought this to replace a +4 year old Linksys router which has been doing fine, but we had weak spots at the other end of our house, on the deck, and in the basement. I put the main unit in the same place as before (my home office), and the second unit in the weak area in the finished basement. Setup was a snap and I was able to name the new network the same as my old one, with the same password so all my devices automatically connected - with 16 devices, this is a good thing. The Orbi system is amazing as I now have strong signal in all parts of my house, including the deck. The desktop software is a nice way to keep track of which devices are on which module. Signal strength can be tested easily by checking the wireless connection status on the phone as I walk around. My daughters tell me they no longer have skipping videos, and I no longer lose signal in the kitchen when the microwave runs! No more weak spots. The system is a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it. The units look nice and blend into our decor.

Very quick set up. App is easy to use, and provides straight-forward, common sense functionality makes it very easy to administer. Satellites allow you to easily experiment with the best locations for repeaters around the house, without having to log into/attach to different satellite networks.

I'm very satisfied with my new ORBI. It was extremely easy to install and setup. I am NOT experiencing any compatibility issues with AT&T and Direct TV. The range and signal strength is exceptional, and I'm getting my full 120+ Mbps after the repeater. Currently, the best home Wi-Fi on the market.

Easy to set up, great range, consistent speeds. Looking to add the outdoor satellite next to cover the entire lot. If I didn't buy this, would have looked at the WiFi 6 models for future proofing. This should hold out for at least 5 years

Great speed, great range in locations of my home previously not usable and easy setup. My best router so far and I've had some of the best. The concept here worked. Read about the satellite station and if that makes sense for your situation you will not be disappointed. Expensive yes but worth it to me.
