The ease of installation was extraordinarily good. The functionality is excellent. The only problem I see is that you are not able to purchase an extender without purchasing the entire set.

This is the second NETGEAR - Powerline AC1000 Wi-Fi Access Point and Adapter I've set up and used. I set this up for my son's Xbox for a Ethernet connection and wireless for his laptop and phone. The only con is that you have to use the set password that comes with it, but it's not a jumbled mess of numbers and letters. You don't actually get a Gig speed for the Ethernet connection, but it's much better than a WiFi connection. Overall this is so much easier than a regular WiFi extender as you don't have to go through a setup using another computer. Just plug in first adapter into an ac outlet close to your router or switch/hub, plug in the second adapter with antennas into an ac outlet in the room where needed, and connect an Ethernet cord to a Xbox or PC/laptop and set up the WiFi to any laptop or phone with the password supplied. Just follow the instructions and you're up and running in no time.

This powerline adapter is legit. My computer on the second floor was getting 17 mbps (on wifi) due to how far away it was to the router. The speed was not the problem, it was that signal would drop all the time causing me to get kicked out of games. With this powerline adapter I get 50 mbps even though I'm on the second floor. As a reference when I physically connect a wire to the router max speed is 55 mbps. Now I have zero problems with internet and it doubled my speed. Note: If you buy this powerline adapter get at least two 8 ft long (Cat 6) Lan cables. The included Lan cables are pretty much a joke at 2 feet long. Other than the cables this adapter saved me from running physical Lan cables through out my house.

While I'm sure this will work fine, it didn't work for me. Let me explain: the manual says that both components need to be used on the same electrical circuit. The salesperson said yes, but that it will still work on different circuits. He was wrong, it must be the same circuit which didn't work for me. Can't blame the product.

This was a second attempt for us to extend our internet to the opposite end of our home. My wife has a home internet based company and our 3100sq Ft home wasn't covered reliably by our high end wifi router. I first tried a wireless wifi extender from Netgear. The results were rather predictable. I was able to extend the signal but the speed was atrocious. In spite of wifi speeds approaching 200 Mbps in the vicinity of our main router we were rarely able to get close to even 10 Mbps even after much research and tinkering. With this power line extender things were munched improved. We were up and running within 10 minutes and even though the extender is literally in the opposite corner of the house our speeds are stable between 12-20 Mbps. We only needed to maintain about 5 Mbps in order to do our live videos so we're very happy. Now there's no place in our home and even the yard, we can't get wifi.

I was having issues while streaming and needed to have a wired connection, but with an older house, it would be difficult and expensive to run Ethernet. I decided to give this a try and it works perfectly. I get the same speeds as plugged directly into the router, downstairs. Just plug into the outlet and connect to the router and then, plug the other unit in where you need to and also provide an extension to your network, wirelessly. I connected a hub to the wired connection, so I can use my laptop and Hue Hub and TV wired at the same time. It’s the perfect solution to adding a wired connection and also wireless if you have a bigger house or just need a more stable connection. Highly recommended!

I needed a way to reach the far end of my house (second floor). Easy to install and it works well. I was told my house being about 15 years old would have great power wiring and this would work, and the Best Buy salesman was correct. I would recommend

Our router input comes into the house in a remote area and the simple plug in design as well as the signal transfer thru the power line is awesome. We plugged the other connector in on the opposite side of the house and the signal strength has never been stronger.

Setup steps were easy to follow and I was able to get the system up, running, and configured within 15 minutes. The WiFi adapter provides good range and throughput. The one negative with this, and probably most powerline adapters, is that they want to have a dedicated outlet. We have noticed that plugging in other devices, even just to charge a cell phone, substantially weakens the devices throughput on the power line, and your connection status on the adapters typically turns red. It may be the wiring in my house, but we saw this across multiple outlets.

I bought this to extend the wifi signal to a metal building about 300' behind my house. It is a deadzone for any signals getting in so this was my only option besides burying a new wire. It takes about 2 minutes to connect to the phone but I have a stronger signal in the shop than I do in the house off the main router signal. The main WiFi router in my house drawing from a 100mbps service gets us about 15-20mbps effective strength. Using the powerline extender directing the signal to the shop, I get around 40-50mbps.
To say I am pleased is an understatement. Using power tools is dangerous enough as it is, using them without the ability to make a quick 911 call in a building that acts as a SCIF room is potentially life threatening.

I needed a device that could connect my AT&T router upstairs to my computer downstairs. The setup was super easy and the connection was good. It works best when plugged directly into wall outlet and not an extension cord or surge protector.

I had significant Wi-fi connectivity in our basement. After upgrading my modem, I continued to have slow and spotty internet coverage (netflix frequently having to buffer). After purchasing this Powerline adapter, the difference has been amazing. Since connecting, I have had no issues with connectivity or speed (have not had a single episode of Netflix buffering since).. I used the ethernet connection for my PS3 while also creating a wi-fi hotspot for mobile devices (smartphones and iPads). The bandwidth is also great as I stream TV while also using both iPads and phones on the power adapter network with no detectable slowdown.
The only minor drawback is that it creates an entirely new wi-fi network. This really only affects the first time you use a device on the new network since you need to key in a different network name and password.
