I installed several of these in an old style stone framed house. Since the walls were so thick, the signals could not get through. These were placed through out the house to give coverage. It worked.

I think that I am trying to reach the limits of this piece of equipment. It is meant for room to room and I am going to another building that is on the same circuit. Works pretty well but will test its limits soon.

My modem and wifi is installed on one side of the apartment and the the rooms on the other end do not pick up the wifi very well. I looked into the Netgear Powerline to extend my range and my wife and I love it. We can stream Netflix and game in the other side of the apartment with no latency whatsoever!

Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? No. If you live in a home that has wiring installed before about 1990, forget it, your throughput will be in the double digits at best. You'd be better buying a second WIFI router and using it in repeater mode.

My kids had a lot of trouble with the internet connection on one side of the house. After speaking to IT people, I purchased NETGEAR - PowerLINE Wi-Fi 1000 Access Point and Adapter. The Ethernet cable was fished through the attic, so no cables all over the place. Once connected, the network was strong and my kids were able to use their Smart TV.

AC1000 works with your electric lines in home wall. So, I Plugged it into a wall outlet near router. Ran CAT5 from base router to AC1000. Went up stairs 50 feet away from base and plugged the remote unit into the wall outlet. Setup my daughters tablet and phone to log on to the remote AC1000 unit and it works great.
