Great product but a tad pricey...

I received a new PC as a graduation present and I needed a wireless network adapter, so I visited BestBuy to see what they had in stock. I actually picked this one up thinking it was a different model. at around $85, it was honestly a little more than I wanted to pay, but once I saw that it was apparently the best model put out by Netgear, I decided to get it anyway.
The installation could not be any simpler, really. All you do is put the CD into your computer and follow the prompts. I was connected to the internet in about two minutes.
Once in a blue moon, I have a connection issue for about 10 seconds, but that could very well be the location of my computer in relation to the router. Otherwise my connections are superior to the other three computers in my home that do not use this device.
If you're looking for great speed and don't mind spending just a tad more for it, then go ahead and pick this up.

Bought a new Asus desktop for my home business and first purchased a Netgear Wireless N PCI Adapter. How hard can it be to plug something in to the motherboard? Well, turns out the bracket was just a tad too long (so that's Asus's issue) and couldn't put the case back on, so had to return it. Took the PCI back, brought this home and I was connected in like two seconds. Easy-cheesy install. I also have a Netgear Wireless N Router already with Push N Connect so that made it even easier. I was concerned that a USB connection would not be as good as a PCI so opted for this dual band and so far the connection is good. Just got it, so if I have issues I'll report back, but the installation was a breeze, works with Windows 7 64 bit etc.

Great Netgear Dual-Band Wireless N Adapter

The Netgear WNDA3100 is an excellent wireless adapter for high performance users in conjunction with the Netgear WNDR4000 Gigabit Dual-Band Wireless Router operating in the 2.4 gigahertz and 5 gigahertz range at 802.11n. With this wireless adapter using the Netgear SmartWizard driver can push 'n' connect to automatically set the wireless connection or manually do it on your own. One of the best features of the adapter is the dual band feature which allows, other devices that use the 2.4 gigahertz range a different wireless setting, for instance in legacy backward compatibility 802.11 b/g/n at 300 mb/sec and allow the 5 gigahertz range running in 802.11 a/n which includes bluetooth compatiblity and an operating mode of 450mb/sec, without changing settings constantly like most other routers require you to do. This adapter allows WEP passphrase or keys used for encryption with at least 64 bits, WPA TKIP/WPA2 AES and of course MAC Filtering just as most of all adapters do. It allows handling of multiple channels for the best reception on higher operating modes if left on AUTO on the router. The adapter comes with a cradle and USB Cable and a couple of stickers you can attach and remove the adapter easily from a wall or other surface that allows good reception. When operating in the 5 Gigahertz range the adapter LED is solid blue. If the adapter is operating under 2.4 gigahertz than the LED is solid amber. If a connection is not made to the router it blinks blue and amber repeatedly until a conection is made.

I bought this to free up space for my hard wired connections and have a faster connection as the ethernet port in my computer can't handle 1 gb speed. This connects at a higher speed than my wired connection even with my router on compatibility mode. definitely recommend any of the netgear usb rangemax ports as they get signal all over the house when my previous wireless connections would only have limited connectivity

G better signal than N

I later figured out why G was working better than N because G is running at 2.4 ghz and N is running at 5 ghz lower ghz equal farther broadcast range so when i changed router to 2.4 ghz N it worked awesome. Also was easy to install no need to install stupid netgear software windows worked just fine. At first had windows 7 driver problems but is no longer a problem. The little sticky thing they send wasnt to great fell off the spot i put it after like 4 days and didnt want to stick again but not that major of a problem. I wouldn't say its worth $80 maybe $60 but a lot of things nowadays r overpriced.

Great Wifi Connection

Recently switched service providers and moved router location to Family Room from my Study. Bought two (2) of these devises to connect previously direct connected desktops to Wifi router. Set up was so easy and finished both using automatic method. Seems to have optimum performance from three rooms away. Might have got the same results for a lower priced unit but decided to go for this unit and avoid the hassel.

Works great EXCEPT for Windows 7 64-bit driver!

CAUTION, this product will disconnect during transfers of large file sizes on N networks. This major limitation is allegedly due to driver incompatibility issues with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows 7. This issue is well documented on various forums, support sites, etc. Large file transfers cause the driver to malfunction requiring a reset of the device (unplug USB). The only recommended solution that works is to use the lower-bandwidth G network which is unsatisfactory and asinine.
I first installed this device on a PC with Windows XP SP 3 and it worked flawlessly with my Netgear N750 Wireless N router. I then installed it on a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with similar results UNTIL I started to transfer large files, ~200MB and greater. Smaller files were transferred with no apparent issues. The status light is a steady blue when the device is operating correctly, i.e. connected to a network. Within a few seconds of transferring a large file the connection dropped and the status light turned to a blinking amber. The only way to re-establish a connection was to unplug the device from the USB port and then reinsert it. Netgear does not (as of July 2011) have a solution for this issue, no timeframe and barely acknowledges the issue. This issue does not occur with HD content streamed over the N network.
Other than the issue transferring large files the device performs well. Installation and setup from the CD was simple. The device has its own MAC address which must be used if the wireless network uses MAC address filtering (instead of the computer it's connected to). This was undocumented and caused some initial confusion since my Linksys G network didn't require this.

I installed this wireless adapter in less than a minute. The set up was incredibly easy. Just place in the disk provided, plug in the adapter, hit the button on top of the device, and BAM all the networks available (wifi) show up and I just signed right on to my home's wifi. I have been using it and haven't had any disconnections. My computer moves quickly, downloading videos is amazingly fast. Haven't experienced any lags or issues. I'm very pleased with this adapter and recommend it.

EXCELLENT INTERNET SPEED BOOST

I rarely write reviews. I think this is my first review on Best Buy. This may be a premature review since I only owned the product for 3 hrs. However, its performance blew me away. I'm using it on my Dell 1764 laptop running Windows 7 premium 64 bit. The laptop has built in wireless G card. My ISP is Verizon Fios, I have quantum service at 75/35 speeds. With my built in card the max throughput speed i could achieve was 22mbps. Wireless G has a theoretical max speed of 54mbps. Even with Fios quantum i couldn't achieve the higher speeds. I bought a Netgear Micro USB from Radio Shack that was supposed to increase my speeds but only ended up increasing by 5-7 mbps. I returned it immediately. I then went to Best Buy to purchase the Netgear N600. As soon as I plugged it into my laptop, I ran a speed test. I'm getting full quantum speeds using wireless. I ran several speed tests because I couldn't believe it. I'm getting actual throughput of 75/35 mbps. I highly recommend this product if you want to get the most out of your internet service. My internet is blazing fast now.

NETGEAR - N600 Wireless-N Dual Band USB Adapter

Very good wireless adapter for my ancient Dell tower desktop computer. Setup was fast and easy, and I do not notice any lag in speed even though my router is in a separate room. The product works as advertised; other than the rare occurrence of having to restart my computer when it doesn't wake up after hibernation, it works pretty well.

Easy to setup; scans area and locates signals in range; change channel easily. But, like most N products, the faster speed has a limited range. Nicely, the lower speed, available in this dual band device, works very well. If it does not have a good connection at the higher speed, it will switch to the other, assuming that the router is also dual band.

Reviews made me think I was taking a chance. We are using it on an older PC so anticipated intermittent signal. Has never dropped signal. Tried to figure out how to switch bands when multiple devices are running but couldn't - didn't put a whole lot of effort into it though! Plug and play install.

Like a dork, I'd bought the cheapest USB adapter I could find, not realizing it was cheap AND slow, not just cheap. When I bought a new router, I was annoyed that my internet connection hadn't sped up. Then I realized... DOH! The adapter I had was literally the slowest on the market. It even had a picture of a turtle on the box.
I picked up this little baby and plugged it in. I think I got whiplash the first time I typed in a URL. I'm going to replace my other SLOW adapter with one of these suckers. It's like surfing the internet on a racehorse instead of a plow horse.

get version 2 of the wnda3100

Version 2 has an led and an AES button (version 1 only has the led). Worked instantly with the new Netgear wndr3700 dual band N wireless router. The first version drove me nuts for a day until I figured out it would fail for 4 seconds about every 25 seconds (first started working with wireless networks 10 years ago). Version 2 also has about 15% better signal strength. You need to buy this item in person. The two versions were intermingled at my local best buy. Look for the thinner box and then look at the picture on the cover. Personally I think version 2 should have been called wnda3700 to get away from some of the problems with the wnda3100 version 1. Ratings: Version 1 would get one star, version 2 gets five stars.

Dumped my broadband air card needed to connect to my home network. Don't know why I didn't do this sooner. Very quick and easy to set up;pretty fair price. Very effective in my home. Does all I could ask of it. Overall an excellent product. Way easier than opening up case on my desktop and getting into that kind of thing,
