I had my own Modem that cost just $25.00 back when they use to let you purchase them. I purchased this one, plugged it in and I have perfect DSL

Much faster speeds now

By purchasing this and an Apple Airport Extreme and replacing the ISPs equipment, I now have blazingly fast WiFi speeds and I don't have to pay a monthly rental for the ISPs equipment. Fairly easy to set up and Netgear customer service was great in assisting when needed.

They seem to work okay but after a year or so seem to be unreliable. I wanted a modem with separate router in case we do something different for our ISP. We live in an area where we can only get DSL or satelite internet.

Finally got it to work.

When I called Netgear for the "free" tech supportwhich they offer for 90 days, I got no help at all. Tried on two or three occasions and not only did they not help but each time tried to charge for the support. Finally I reached someone who was able to help and the modem was working in mere minutes.
