Works great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this modem to replace to replace the modem/wireless router combination I got from CenturyLink when I first got my Internet from them, and this thing has been a great replacement for it. My CenturyLink-provided one worked just fine, but I got this particular modem so I could save $10/month by having my own modem instead of having to lease one from CenturyLink. Unlike some other reviewers here, the automatic setup/Genie worked just fine for me. Plugged the modem into my phone jack and then my computer, fired up my browser, and it was able to detect my CenturyLink service just fine. A quick call to CenturyLink to obtain my PPPoE credentials, I was up and running in a matter of minutes. Also, as you will be able to see in my picture I've attached, I'm actually getting speeds a tiny bit faster than what I was provisioned for (40Mbps up/5 Mbps down). Not too shabby! In the grand scheme of things, so as long as you have compatible service (non-bonded ADSL/VDSL) from CenturyLink or the myriad of other DSL providers out there, this modem is solid. Save $10/month and go with this modem instead! Also a lot cheaper than buying your ISP-provided modem outright too.

Read if you have Centurylink
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will be returning this modem, at the fault of my own. I failed to read the box where it says it won’t work on bonded adsl/vdsl line which I have. Just be aware if you have centurylink you should call/chat just to make sure if you have a bonded line before purchasing.

Decent - Not Sure any Improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this modem to replace a 3+ year old Actiontec modem that i was leasing from CenturyLink. Luckily I still had the Actiontec or I would have never gotten the Netgear modem connected. The automated set up simply would not work, and could not determine the proper settings for the CenturyLink network. I had to reconnect the ActionTec, and write down all of the settings, then manually compare to the automated configuration settions on the Netgear. Came down to the "connection mode" (it needed to be PTM-TaggedA), I have no idea what that even means, but once I set it to that I was up and running. I have not noticed a real change in performance, which is fine as there was no issue with the old modem. Still have a consistent 45+Mb/s, however I have had connection issues with the extender. Also recommend not updating the firmware, as it caused me to lose all internet connectivity - could connect to the modem, it was just not establishing an internet connection. Reverted back to initial firmware and all is good. Overall the modem works, and provides a reliable connection but you will have to spend time getting it set up (at least if you have CenturyLink in the Phoenix area), honestly I should of just kept the Actiontec.

Nearly impossible installation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Netgear Genie did not come up. Seems it only comes up if it is the first installation, not a replacement.. Contacting "support" proved impossible. Went to Wendy;s free Wi-Fi with my laptop. Spent three days without any luck contacting "support". Packaged it up to take it back. Decided to install it on my laptop. Genie came up. Finished installation on laptop and then moved it to my desktop. Done.

WILL NOT WORK FOR CENTURY LINK W/ ADSL2+
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after reading a lot of the reviews concerning century link I decided to make the purchase because some people said they got it to work. Well after two days of trying and calling century link and netgear separately I finally got fed up with the back and forth finger pointing of who's fault it is. So i call both Century Link and Netgear and got them both on a conference call so all three of us could figure it out together. After about 20 mins of going over my internet service from Century Link and what the Netgear DM200 can do, the end result was that since i only had DSL and not DSL & telephone from Century link that the signal that Century Link was providing was only the ADSL2 signal and not the VDSL. Yes i know that the box says it does VDSL/ADSL2+ and the box also says it works for Century Link **IT DOES NOT!!!** The DM200 can NOT process the ADSL2 from Century Link. It was told to me by the Netgear rep that the modem says it can only do VDSL and ADSL2+ by only certain providers and that the current Century Link signal i was getting was not compatible. The rep from Century Link also told me that i was his 4th call concerning that same thing with the same modem in the past two weeks and he recommended to get another modem. The Netgear rep then told me that the best model they have for the ADSL2 signal is the Netgear DM111PSPv2. The Century Link rep also confirmed that the new modem that the Netgear rep suggested is compatible. AND BONUS!!!! The Netgear DM111PSPv2 is $10 cheaper $$$$$$$$

Perfect for Century Link!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Century Link 25 Meg Stacked/Bundled ADSL/VDSL. I was preparing to enter all the connection information to make the Modem work but was online within minutes letting the NETGEAR Genie do it. It detected my complicated set up and got it connected with ease. I HIGHLY recommend this router for Century Link users.

Installation was long, but it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace an old Motorola 3360 router for my ATT dsl service. I thought and hoped I could just switch out the modems and it would automatically work. Nope that was not the case. I used my phone and tablet to try and connect to my wifi. The page pulled up automatically but it was searching for my detection for about 10-20 minutes each time. I opened multiple webpages and nothing helped. I spent about an hour on the phone with att and then another hour on the phone with Netgear. Netgear helped me change some of the details in the advance settings (2nd option to manually enter isp details) You need to know your username and password. Well we put my login details and it still didn't connect. You may have to try it with or without the @att.net. I ended the call because by that point I wasted my whole evening. I kept retrying and finally a login screen appeared and it will say congratulation. In total it took about 4 hours for me to get connected

Works Great - Great NetGear Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great, I have only had it a short time. Couldn't get Genie modem install application to work, called NetGear and they walked me right thru it. In my case it works with Century Link. More detailed trouble shooting techniques would be nice, NetGear support was fantastic.

Very difficult installation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to hook up by myself before calling tech support. It took a couple phone calls to both centurylink and netgear to try to get this working. Spent well over an hour with netgear tech in India to no avail. Tried myself again before taking product back for replacement. Finally after another 1.5 hours of trying I finally got it to work. I think the key was to keep trying the auto setup wizard. When it looked like it was trying to detect the settings it stated it would take 1-6 minutes. Tech support only had me wait 2-3 minutes till we tried something else. I think it took more like 20-30 minutes but it did detect the settings and let the setup finish. Seems to be an ok product but if I knew it would be this much trouble I never would have bought. Lost 4-5 hours out of my day.

Bad DSL Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem on 12-28-2017 and tried to install it the same day. The modem immediately got very hot and would not load the setup page. After about 10 mins, part of the setup page loaded, and it let me enter the DSL provider (AT&T). Then I clicked next and waited another 10 minutes only to receive "BAD REQUEST" error. I tried over and over, but there is definitely a bug either in the hardware or software of this DSL modem. I have to return it today and hunt down another DSL modem in the area. Do not buy this modem.
