Oddball slasher slop from Cannon Films...

While New Year's Evil isn't the greatest early '80s slasher film ever made, it's enjoyable none the less. The killer is revealed early on but their identity is kept a secret...and once the reveal happens it sure is a doozy! There's great special features on the Scream Factory disc that will please fans as well as commentary and trailers. Another stellar product for horror fans who dig the old classics (and not-so-classics).

I used to rent this every New Year's Eve. Shout's release is miles better than the old Paragon VHS. The special features are a nice addition to the excellent picture and sound quality. Fans should be pleased.

Not that great really, but a weird li'l diversion, to be sure. Bad music, bad everything, but somehow not the worst of its kind. The Blu-ray version offers an audio commentary, interviews and more
