    My 32 Gb Nextbase MicroSD was filling. I thought it was the problem because the dashcam was not recording. The Nextbase need to have a power source even when car is off, cigarette lighter, but my car doesn't have one. Have not rechecked to see if it is recording. I would recommend this to keep as many files because they take up alot of space and I have the rear camera that contributes to using space on the MicroSD.

      Hello,

      Regarding the recording lengths, the camera will record continuously in small segments (1,2, or 3 minutes). It will record these segments consecutively until the SD card is full. Then the oldest piece of footage will be deleted and the newest will be saved in it's place. This will continue looping and is called Continuous Overwriting. The Dash Cam does this automatically to allow for more footage to be recorded and the old, unnecessary footage to be deleted without manual intervention.

      However Protected Files are not overwritten in the same way as normal files. If you do not format regularly, these files can build up and reduce the capacity of storage available for normal footage. It is essential to format every two weeks to delete any protected files and clear the card ready for continued usage.

      You can format the SD card by:

      a) Turn on the Dash Cam
      b) Stop it recording
      c) Open Settings
      d) Go into Setup
      e) Click 'Format'
      f) Follow the instructions.

      Please be aware that formatting the SD card will delete all the data on the card, so if you wish to keep any footage, please copy this across to a computer before you start the formatting process.

      It's crucial to format the SD card every two weeks to avoid any SD card failures.

    Bought a nextbase dash cam and they recommended using their specially created microSD card. About twice the cost of a similar one from another company and I can't tell any difference. No idea if it is worth it or not. Sorry

      Thanks for this review! We have designed our SD cards specifically to fulfil the needs of our dash Cams. Due to the differences in technology, a regular SD card that works with a cell phone or laptop won’t necessarily work very well inside one of our dash cams. Our dash cams have different requirements to other recording devices; this is because they need to keep recording when the SD card is full while overwriting the oldest unprotected files at the same time. Not all SD cards are able to cope with this amount of stress.

    This Micro card was recommended by Nextbase for use only in their dash cam which I had my doughts about and chose to use another card I had already had on hand but the quaility of pictures was not what I expected so decided to purchase the recommended card and picture quailty was much improved , I highly recommended using.

    Bought it for my KENWOOD DRV-A301W dash cam. The recordings of images and sound are much better than expected. Was not expecting much from this product; it was all they had at the time and I needed one in a hurry. Big surprise; glad I bought it.

    This was part open automobile camera that was unable to be installed by the Best Buy technicians after I brought a vehicle in to have an inspected they informed me that they could not install. They still charged me a $100 installation fee on my Best Buy credit card which I am disputing. I hope it does not affect my credit but don’t have confidence that it won’t is the worst company in the world.
