Having a dash cam gives you piece of mind and security to the unforeseen events that can happen on a daily basis. This is my second Nextbase dash cam and I really like the addition of physical buttons on this one. Though the touch screen on my first one has served me well, the small screen can be challenging at times. On the specs front, both front and rear cameras record 1080p @ 30fps and have a 2.12M pixel sensor front and .9 rear. The front has a 140 degree field of view with a 1.6 aperture while the rear is 30 and 2.5. The rear camera comes with a nice magnetic mount that makes adjustments easy, it also comes with an extra long cable that was more than sufficient for a full size four door car. When connecting the rear camera to the front, you have to make sure the front is completely powered off, you do this by holding the power button down for about 10 seconds. You’ll know it’s connected when you see the rear camera overlay on the dash cam screen. The dash cam supports up to a 128GB micro sd card, though one is not included. To view the recorded video you have to remove the SD card and use a computer. It would be nice if it had the ability to view it on your phone, this is a feature I would like to see work it’s way down from the more expensive models. Overall it’s a great option from a company you can rely on for a quality dash cam.

The Nextbase 320XR is a fantastic dash camera system that delivers reliable front and rear video coverage in clear 1080p. It's incredibly easy to install thanks to the magnetic mount and included cabling tools, making setup quick and clean even for first-time users. Both the front and rear cameras offer a wide 140° viewing angle, capturing a broad field of view that’s perfect for everyday driving and unexpected incidents. The Intelligent Parking Mode is a standout feature—it automatically records if any movement or impact is detected while your car is parked, adding peace of mind when you're away from your vehicle. While it doesn’t include GPS or Wi-Fi connectivity, the video quality is more than sufficient for most drivers who want reliable footage and simple operation. The compact design also blends nicely into the windshield without being distracting. Overall, the Nextbase 320XR is a top-notch dual dash cam that’s easy to use, dependable, and well worth the investment for enhanced road safety.

Nextbase 320XR good for what it is

This is my first dash cam, I liked that it was able to record both a front and rear view at the same time. I think it’s a good camera setup if you go into it with proper expectations. It maxes out at 1080P resolution so it doesn’t capture fine enough detail to record a license plate number from more than about 30ish feet, in the daytime, if there’s no glare on the plate. At night, it’s really limited by the ambient light and your headlights. License plates were unreadable, washed out by my headlights. I think that the default exposure setting leaves video a little overexposed at night, I need to experiment with that setting a little to see if a different setting is better. That being said, the picture quality during the day is nice and it will work for my intended purpose. I will try to link to a couple short videos I posted on youtube, just search Nextbase 330XR Dash Cam Daytime Drive if the link won’t post here. I’ll add some screen grabs here at least. I like that it has a screen in it so I can easily see the camera alignments and then there’s a button to turn the screen off so it’s not a distraction. Same for the microphone , there’s a button to mute the mic when you don’t want it on. Nextbase has a downloadable player to view the video clips, you can also join and/or edit clips, pull screenshots, and process the clips to a .mov file to easily share or upload to youtube. One thing to note on the install, make sure you fully insert the connectors at the rear camera or the camera won’t register. See the pic below. Make sure to pick up a compatible micro sd card for the camera. The camera saves video in one minute long clips, if you have both the front and rear cameras connected it will save each in a separate file. The Nextbase player can stitch multiple video clips together if needed and can also edit clips for length if you need. **Link to videos was not allowed, just use the search terms I posted.

Great Basic dashcam with a rear camera too

This is your basic dashcam, nothing special beside that it works consistently, and it has the added advantage of the rear camera. You don’t need to use the rear camera and it automatically detects when the rear camera is plugged in. The files are stored in two different areas, DCIM and locked. The locked simply means that when you hit the locked button that video it is doing and until you stop recording (saved in configurable 1 min videos) will not be overwritten. Otherwise, the other videos will be overwritten when the micro-SD card runs out of space. For reference A 64GB card will give you about 14 hours of recorded video, each 1 min video was about 75000KB each. For me a 64GB card is more than enough for how often I drive. There are different configurations, and one is park mode where it enables a sensor that turns the camera on and records for a bit and then turns off as well as automatically locking that footage. Perfect for catching that card that backs into your car while your away. The disadvantage to park mode is that it auto locks the footage which means if you leave park mode on all the time you only have locked footage and eventually, you’ll just run out of recording room. The other option is to just enable it when you are somewhere that you may be concerned about your car getting bumped. The camera does have a small internal battery for park mode. I charged the camera up overnight and then put it in a high traffic area to see how long the battery would last. It lasted about 30 min turning on and off constantly. After that it would power up, say low battery and power down. Plenty of battery for a car not getting constantly bumped and bruised. Plugging in the rear camera is a little weird, the rear camera has a USB C but a one directional plastic gasket around it where the cord goes towards the top of the camera. The main power is a mini-USB, not even micro, this is probably the most annoying the feature as I mini-USB has pretty much disappeared so spare cords aren’t a thing for this. On the security side, this camera is local only, the easiest way to get videos and pictures off it is to just take about the micro-SD card and put it in your laptop (with an adapter if needed need). If you are wanting to protect that data from someone breaking into your car this might not be the camera for you. Besides just taking the camera with the SD card they could just take the SD card or just wipe the SD card as locked files are not safe from formatting the SD card. This isn’t something I am worried about myself, but it may be worth considering depending on your needs. The video is clear and stable, the files are labeled with an F or an R for front and rear on the SD card and overall, it is a well-made dash cam that hits all my needs. There was one time I got in the car in the morning and noticed the rear camera was purple. I restarted the camera, and it was fine, I haven’t encountered that issue since so I figure it was just a ghost in the system.

I have owned many dash cams over my years as a driver. It has come very useful with accidents when folks try to lie about not admitting to being at fault. I can't rave enough about them. Setup... Luckily I have already setup another camera system with the same brand. It saved me from having to run the power but I had to re run the rear camera as the connector is different from the other system. Regardless you need to make sure you plan out your wire runs and optimal location of the adhesives for the front and rear cameras. Because I was already half done it took me about 30 mins to run the rear camera wire. Menu setup for the camera took all but 10 mins max. Video quality is pretty good for 1080. Night vision is half decent. I ran the given software to view and it was good and easy to use. Size of main camera screen is nice and big. Max distance before image started to become blurry is about 20 ft at night. So you have to be pretty close to get license plates to be clear without having to do image enhancement. 1 downside to the rear camera is that even though it is magnetic and it is easy to adjust. It is also easy to knock out of place. Something to note for hatch backs or mini vans etc. Given the overall performance and setup. I would recommend this product.

The Nextbase 320XR Is pretty much just a step above their introductory level dash cams. Their introductory models start at 720p and offer just basic dash cam features. The 320XR is a step above that with 1080p and an included rear view camera. The rear view camera comes with enough cable to run from the front windshield to the back hatch of virtually any vehicle. The rear camera is meant to be mounted inside the vehicle as it's not featured for outside use. The mount is pretty nice, in fact all of Nextbase's cameras come with a strong magnetic mount. This makes removal of any of the cameras very easy. The rear view camera can be placed in a lot of different angles due to the magnetic mount, however not every part of the surface is magnetic, so it does have some limitations on the angle, but for all practical purposes it seems to work perfectly. The rearview camera comes with an attached 6M cable and can be placed at your back window, or you could wrap the lengthy cable around your rear view mirror and mount it up front to be used as a  cabin view camera instead. The rear view camera works at 720p and 60fps.  The front camera records at 1080p and 30fps. Both the videos from the front and rear camera run very smoothly at their respective frame rates. All the motion seems very fluid and natural. Older or cheaper cameras use a lower frame rate which causes videos to stutter or have a choppy feel to them and could even miss some fast objects zipping past the camera. The color in the videos from both cameras is very nice and pretty much accurate to what our own eyes see.Even though the camera does come with night vision it's very difficult for any camera to capture all detail at night inside the field of the headlights and outside of their range. Which creates a type of "tunnel vision" , just as we would pretty much see it. I tested out the night vision while driving down a dark street with no street lights. The edges of the road were still visible, but the surrounding trees and everything else just looked like a big blur. I didn't see any infrared lights, so it looks like Nextbase cameras have a very low LUX rating, which enables them to capture images with minimal light. Most of the night videos looked very impressive with the amount of detail and colors recorded. Daytime images look pretty good for 1080p, it's pretty incredible how much detail is actually captured. It's very easy to distinguish all the different car models and different structures in the videos. Although this is still 1080p and small details like license plates or similar print are very hard to make out based on the distance from the camera. It looks like you need to be 20 to 30 feet at maximum away from the camera to have a chance at making out the license plate number in the videos. The Parking feature works very well and will automatically record on both cameras if the "G" sensor gets triggered. I have it set fairly high for sensitivity, and it gets triggered anytime the wind is really bad, or I remote start my car. Because this model is geared towards a lower price point, there are no WIFI, Bluetooth or touch screen features. I would also like to add that I have removed the memory card several times to check the videos recorded, and everything with the unit has continued to work great. I have had other dash cams that the memory card would get corrupted for some reason and I would lose all my recording because of it. (And yes, I wait till the device is powered off before removing the card, and safely eject it from my PC before putting it back in the dash cam.) - So I am very impressed at how stable everything is with the Nextbase model.I would also like to point out that the dash cam will not accept any memory card less than a U3, it simply will not give you the option to record or format anything less than "U3".The manual states that 128GB cards are the max that can be used, but I had no problem at all using a 256GB U3 card. It formatted to the correct size, and all videos were still accessible. Overall this is a very good dash cam for the price, although I feel that next time I would aim towards one of Nextbase's 4K dash cams for the extra detail in everything. Otherwise it has all the basic features anyone would need in a dash cam.

We installed this Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera in our vehicle to replace a previous dash cam that lacked the rear window camera. It will be nice to now have a rear and forward view should anything like an unforeseen accident occur. The rear camera is connected via cable to the front dash cam so footage is recorded directly on the microSD card in the 320XR Dash Cam. This dash cam is capable of using a microSD up to 128gb. Installation is straight forward and it’s nice that Nextbase provides a tool to assist one with concealing the cable behind a headliner or other interior component. Prior to installation be sure to charge the dash cam with the provided cable for at least two hours. The Click & Go Pro Mount seems well designed and the magnetic connection is secure while at the same time being very convenient to remove, position and re-attach the cameras. Our vehicle is a subcompact size so we did have a fair amount of excess cable that we coiled and zip tied behind an interior panel as we did not hard wire our installation. I like that the 320XR comes with a 2.5” screen which is larger than our previous dash cam. The size of the cameras themselves are a nice balance between not being obtrusive and sufficient for use. Controls are straight forward and buttons easily accessible to mute the mic or hit the protect button to manually protect video footage. The 1080p video quality has good clarity, but we did notice the color being off just a bit at times. The 320XR features Intelligent Parking Mode to use its G-sensor to detect an incident and thus initiate power to start recording. With the engine off its stated that the unit can hibernate for up to a week on its internal battery which is nice for those of us that choose not to do a hard wire installation. We would recommend the Nextbase 320XR camera as it provides some nice features, good video quality with wide angles and it is a nice value for around $150.00. There are vehicles that now come with the ability to record via built in cameras, but for those of us with older vehicles its nice to have peace of mind by adding a dual camera dash cam.

This is a pretty average dashcam combo with a good design. In the box you have everything you would really need. The power cable and rear camera cable are more than enough to get by in most vehicles. The design allows for better cable management as the power source for the front camera plugs into the base of the mount. I do question a few design choices on the camera itself such as the file protect button on the bottom. I feel this would have been a better location for the record button. At the time of writing, this camera sits at under $100. At this price point, this is very much worth it. At its MSRP of $180, absolutely not. Where this thing suffers a bit is in performance, or better said, media delivery. Both image and audio. You might wonder why audio has much to do here. Over the span of about 6 years when I first started using dashcams. I’ve learned that relying solely on the image can sometimes lead to disappointment. If something goes wrong on the road and you need to get another vehicles license plate#, most if not all dashcams do fair to bad when reading text while in motion. I’ve made it a habit of saying it out loud so that the dashcam will also pick it up in case I forget those 7 characters at my next stop. This dashcam has pretty bad audio and it doesn't quite capture a conversation happening in the car. Music playing in the car also sounds quite distorted that you may not recognize what was playing at that moment. Video is a whole lot better. With stationary objects, any text is clearly visible. Low light picking up enough detail including some texts. Included are some examples during real world use and a comparison of my current dashcam unit. Overall, it’s a well made combo dashcam with decent video quality. I would recommend someone in the market to consider this unit.

Having a dash cam is cheap protection against unforeseen events that can happen on the road. This is my second Nextbase dash cam and I like that this one has physical hardware buttons instead of the touch screen. Though the touch screen on my other model has served me well, on smaller devices I find the physical buttons a littler easier to live with. The specs for both the front and rear cameras are 1080p @ 30fps, 2.12m pixel and .9m pixel censor resolution, a 1.6 and 2.5 aperture and 140 and 30 degree angle. The rear camera has a nice adjustable magnetic mount, the cable that comes with it should be long enough for even the biggest vehicle as I had plenty for a large sedan. When connecting the rear camera you must make sure the front is completely off, you do this by holding down the power button for probably 10 seconds. You’ll know it’s not connected properly if you don’t see the rear camera overlay on the dash cam screen. The dash cam supports up to 128gb SD card and does not include one in the box. The only thing I wish this had was the ability to view the videos from the dash cam on your phone. When you want or need to view them you have to remove the SD card and use a computer. I understand this feature is generally reserved for the higher end models, but it would be nice if it starts making its way down to the lower tier. It’s an overall great dash cam that protects you front and rear from a brand you can depend on.

With over 7 years of dash cam usage, I have come to love to security they provide in cases of accidents, road debris, or even theft. I believe everyone should have one to protect themselves against possible fraudulent activities or just as objective evidence in any situation. With a growing number of cameras offering expanded features available this one goes back to the basics of a camera(s) to record to an SD card. The Nextbase 320XR is a good dual dash cam kit but leaves something to be desired in terms of picture quality. Setup: Grab and High Quality Micro SD Card and Go! Setting up the 320XR was very simple. With no Wi-Fi or app compatibility it is basically making sure the camera is up to date from the Nextbase website, installing the camera in the car, and drive! The camera has nice physical buttons to navigate the menus and a nice screen size which makes it easy to setup. Usage: 1080p Footage Works. Cannot Capture Finer Details. The camera comes with only double sided tape mounts unlike some of Nextbases other camera kits which include a suction cup. After attaching the mount to the car, this camera uses their same magnetic attachment for power and camera. It works well with this camera and holds the camera steady over bumps as this camera does not have any image stabilization. The camera uses a USB C port on the side of the camera to connect the rear camera. The rear camera then uses a small 8” or so USB C to Mini Jack dongle to connect the rear camera. Seems a little odd but it works I suppose. When you compare the footage side by side with a QHD or 4K Dash Cam you really see the difference of 1080p. Personally, after owning and using a QHD and 4K in my cars I wouldn’t want anything less at this point. The price point of QHD over 1080p is trivial if you are willing to look at other name brands. I have posted a couple sample images to compare 1600p vs 1080p side by side. Parking Mode: Love the Built in Battery. One feature I really like from these Nextbase cams is the small built in battery. This enables the camera to use it for parking mode or small intermittent power loss situations. So if you want approx. 15 minutes of parking mode (Uses G Sensor to turn on) then this camera does need to be hardwired for it to turn on and record for short clips of about 30 seconds until it was to run out. Very useful compared to other cameras. Final Thoughts: Better than Nothing. The Nextbase 320XR provides overall car protection at an affordable price point. This is one of the cheapest dual camera cams on the market however at a mere 1080p resolution. The built in battery is great for extra protection in case of hit and run in a parking lot. Just remember there is no app, GPS, or smart functions of this camera so each time you want footage it will require taking the SD card out. Pros: - Great Microphone Quality - Parking Mode with Built in Battery (For short periods of time between charges) - Quick Startup Time - Software Updates via SD Card - Physical Buttons, Easy to Control Cons: - Dual 1080p Resolution at 30fps. Image Seems Dark. - Adhesive Only Mount Type - Poor Placement of Nextbase Logo on Image/Videos (Cannot Remove?)

Very nice dash cam. It was very easy to set-up and the wires are very long so that you can use it in a variety of sized vehicles. The only thing I did not like was trying to hide the wires without using tape. I am still working on trying to figure that out. Its not too bothersome for the front camera, but the rear camera is hanging from the ceiling, which I do not prefer. The little manual that comes with it does not have a detailed description of how to wire it. Just gives you an idea of how to route it and you kind of have to figure it out. It wasn't too tricky though. I love that you can reformat right on the camera. Makes life easy. The camera works really well and the picture is pretty clear on a small screen.

Why a dash cam? Insurance Purposes – in the event of a collision to ascertain fault Avoid Fraud – Pedestrian engineering an “accident” on purpose Keep car safe – Record events when parked and not with your vehicle. The Nextbase 320XR, helps in all the above categories. You can mount on your windshield and utilize the included Cigarette Lighter Adapter to supply power or use an optional hard wire cord to wire to direct 12V vehicle power.I purchased the optional hard wire kit to avoid having the power cord hanging in my field of view etc. Once I installed the front camera and mounted the rear camera (all the while hiding the wires) I was ready to go. I inserted the Micro SD card and formatted it right away to insure compatibility with the Nextbase 320XR. You are able to chose video quality from 1080P and 720P, I chose 1080P. Another choice is video clip length, I went with the longest which is 3 minutes. Accessing the menu I chose to enable “Parking Mode” which powers the camera down to its bare minimum power consumption enabling the Nextbase 320XR to automatically turn on in the event the camera detects physical movement of your car ie: someone hits it while parked and it will automatically record a clip of what transpired. Video quality from both the front and rear cameras is great and operation is what you’d expect from a dash cam, and that very simply is to record your every driving moment automatically with ease. If you need a dash cam, the Nextbase 320XR is a fantastic choice.

Decent Dash Cam @ Current $100 Price

The NextBase 320XR dash and rear camera system is a no frills, decent dash cam system that has everything needed to install and use in the box. It includes both front and rear cameras and their mounts, the cables needed to connect the front and read camera together and to power that are long enough for nearly any vehicle, as well cable to connect it to your PC for file transfer and charging, plus manuals and a push tool to help hide the wires. This is NOT a 4K camera so if that is what you're after look elsewhere. It records at 1080p 30fps (you can set it to 720p 60fps if you want but the loss of detail is noticeable) which is good enough for dash cams. It uses MP4 file system, so you don’t need any special software to view the files on your computer. You can however use MyNextBase Cloud to view and store your videos on PC if you do not have software that you already prefer. This camera system does NOT have Wi-Fi. So, you must take either the camera or the micro-SD card into your home and connect it to your PC. This is easily done as the SD slot is easy to reach with the camera mounted, and if you want to take the camera inside it has a magnetic mount which makes removing and installing a literal snap. The video is not anything spectacular, but that is pretty much any dash cam. It's clear enough to see what's going on, but it can be a little hard to read license plates on moving vehicles. This is a common problem on many dash cams, but vehicle shape and color are usually sufficient to ID it if it was damaged when it hit you. The front camera has a wider field of view than the rear. The front cameras image quality is lower than the rear cameras. Which may be attributed to the wide-angle lens on the front camera. Which I guess is more important since you’re a responsible driver and you would never rear end someone, but you may indeed get rear ended and need the license plate number from a hit and run. Besides both cameras recording the road while you're driving, the rear camera can double as a backup camera if you have an older vehicle that doesn’t have one. The cameras also detect when you have parked, and if someone hits you, they will activate it and hopefully capture the evidence. For obvious reasons I have not tested this, but it brings a little piece of mind when you're parked in a crazy parking lot. Installation is pretty straight forward and as long as hiding wires under the plastic trim in your car doesn’t make you uncomfortable you can have it up and running quickly. The trim tool works well to help push the wires under without you having to remove the trim. Another thing of note is if your camera fails, you will have to deal with NextBase in the UK. If they require you to ship it in for service, that can result in all kinds of fees and tariffs, etc. which would probably mean it’d be cheaper to buy a new one instead of getting it serviced. This camera does what it's supposed to do. I wish the moving footage was a little clearer but again that's a common issue with dash cams. These are not super high-quality sensors like on your cell phone or a DSLR camera, but it also doesn’t cost near as much. And many of the features, like being a backup camera or turning on when a vehicle hits your parked car are nice, and at the current $100 price it's a good deal. That said I don’t believe it's worth the full $180.

This is the first dashcam I've ever owned, yet it was simple enough to setup and wire discreetly in my car all on my own. The 320XR works great: It boots up fairly quickly and records everything - front, back and whatever sound is within the car. Recordings are made in 3 minute spans at 1920x1080 AAC/H.264, so they're not what I would consider to be highly detailed, although they definitely capture the action in day, night and rainy drives. I have included some screenshots, but the recordings are clearer in video format. One other thing to note: The unit does not come with a memory card, so you'll have to buy one. In order to support the responsive recording requirements, the microSD card has to have U3 speeds - and the unit will nag you about this if it's not there.

I like it overall, it has good quality video and nice sound system. It was also easy installation. I can't give it 5 stars because the review camera fluctuates from normal quality to the whole screen going pink and then back to normal so on and so on. I just hope I don't have an issue when it is pink because you can't make out anything in those moments.

I'm sorry to hear your rear view is recording in pink intermittently. Are you using a Nextbase branded SD card? It's important to use a Nextase SD card as our cards have been designed to handle the wear and demand our cameras put on cameras due to write speed and loop recording. If you are using a Nextbase SD card, please reach out to our technical support team to help troubleshoot the pink screen at [email protected].

I like the idea of this, but it was a bit of a challenge to get it set up and working properly. When I originally installed it, the front camera wasn't connecting with the rear camera. It was only when I de-installed it (and plugged it into a new 9V power source) that it all started to work as advertised. I'm also annoyed at the way they push their own 68-gig micro SD card. It's ridiculously expensive, and really no different than SD cards (like Lexar's) that are a tenth the price.

We purchased this to put into my son’s car as he’s a new driver and mainly driving through the city to/from high school. Have been using for about 2 months and it’s very easy to use. Pretty much set and forget. Tech walked us through setting it up and it’s worked perfectly. Love how it saves to a SIM card (bought upgraded card and a spare). I did have to check the card when we found a crack in his windshield. Videos are super clear easy to load and it small minute long increments.
