The app and Alexa are completely useless!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera and it’s features were great and it pained me to return the camera but the connectivity is HORRIBLE!! I spoke Nextbase’s customer service several times and they told me that they were aware of the connectivity problems and the app would be updated Monday.... well it has been several Mondays and no updates. It went from spotty connectivity to no connection. I had to uninstall and install app several times to return to spotty a connection. I spent the extra money for the Alexa option and WiFi connectivity. After a month I gave up and returned the camera for another high end camera that included the rear camera at the same price and bought the auto echo separately. I hope that Nextbase is able to fix the connectivity problem because they have a great camera.

No Warranty Service Outside of the UK
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have been warned. NextBase makes a great product but does not offer any warranty service outside of the mainland UK. I bought this camera along with the hardwire install kit. The kit came with the wrong fuse splitter cable, I reached out to NextBase Support and was told they do not offer Warranty Support for people outside of the Mainland UK. This goes for the cameras as well. So if you have an issue and you do not have the Best Buy extended warranty, you will be out of luck, I cannot believe Best Buy would sell a product that does not provide warranty support in the country the product is being sold in.

Good little dash cam
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good dash cam. The reason I took off 1 star is because it requires an Micro SD card which is NOT included so expect to spend an additional $10 or more depending on the size of the micro sd card. The camera itself is a jiffy to hook up, but was a little confusing to me. It comes with a USB charging cable for the camera that it says to hook up and charge for 2 hours before first use. BUT, it requires you hook up a power cable inside the car that runs from your cigarette power spot up to the camera mount. When you connect the camera itself to the camera mount on your windshield, it would power and charge that way. So did I really need to use the separate USB cable to pre-charge the camera itself separately inside before hand? Wouldn't it have just powered on and charged from the car cable? That part wasn't clear to me but I followed as instructed. Hardest part is running the power cable. Like I mentioned it plugs into the cigaratee adapter power source, so you have to do a little work to hide the cable and run it under the glove box, up through the door plastic pieces and any pieces on the side of the windshield, then run it up to your rear view mirror and hide the cable in the ceiling cover. It's actually really easy, but the hardest part by far and time consuming. Luckily it comes with a special tool to help you hide the cable and get it behind all those pieces I mentioned. The camera itself is great. It's tiny and compact so can be hid well above or behind the rearview mirror itself. Comes with alot of features you can change like video file size, length of video clip, screensaver mode, etc. I left everything default EXCEPT the auto power off. For some reason mine came with this set to off, meaning the camera just ran all day while it was plugged in and charging, which is ALL the time. That didn't seem right for my battery. I turned it to auto power off, meaning the camera only turns on when I get into my car, or when the g-motion sensor in the camera is activated. All in all a great little camera. Very recommended.

near perfect camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a high traffic area with many tourists, scooters, pedestrians, people on bikes, skateboard all on the main roads. I have been wanting something like this for a while. This comes with a cigarette adapter, 2 mounts. it does NOT come with the memory card. you will need to buy a memory card (microsd). set up was pretty simple. I suggest you use the suction cup first to make sure you get it where you want it, use the 3m adhesive once you are sure where you want it. 2 weeks of new 100 degrees and no bubbling from the adhesive. the app is disappointing, but you most likely wont need it till you need it. I got Alexa to sync to this but the directions and parking feature ever worked for me. Mine would also not play music thru my car speakers. only wants to connect to my phone thru WiFi, not Bluetooth. the power cord attaches to the base connected to the window (not USB-c). The cord is very long but very thick to get to any cigarette lighter. its a fixed connection so it takes the whole lighter, it wont share. Would have been nice if the hardwired kit had been included. There is no battery in the device, so if you unplug it,the camera shuts down. this gets very hot, but i assume they are made for that the resolution is very nice. you can add a rear facing camera, if you are and uber driver or something and you can add a backup camera. Look into the reflection free lens to reduce the glare. pros compact, does not stand out too much nice touch screen great resolution great upgrades you can remove the camera if you want does have some alexa cons no hard wired kit power cord too thick to push into crevices power cord takes a whole cigarette lighter no internal battery limited alexa, the directions parking and music were useless to me i love having this. I have not NEEDED it yet, I hope I never do but I have it in case.

Not worth the price
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this dash cam for about 10 weeks now. It doesn't record part of the time. Locks up and won't record anything. Really not worth what I paid for it.

1st experience with dash cam
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never had a dash cam before so I can't compare this to anything else. Build quality is very good. Instruction manual is very detailed unlike many user manuals now days. Picture quality is outstanding. Easy to install, hardest part is hiding cord but they do provide you with a tool to help tuck the wire away. A little disappointed that they do not provide any kind of micro sd card so you have to purchase that separately. I bought a 128gb card that will record up to 9 hours of video. Paired with my phone easily and download of videos to phone is easy but it seems to take a long time to download (may be my phone) Videos are linked to GPS so you can see where you were when they downloaded. Park feature is nice as any time vehicle is disturbed even if camera is not powered up it captures a clip of what went on. Thankfully I have not had the occasion to need to use a video clip to prove an accident etc. but I drive 170 miles a day in all kinds of weather so I am sure I will in the future. Have not gotten the link to Alexa feature to work yet but I am still working on it. Overall a well built unit and when compared to others I have seen I feel it is one of the better cameras out there. Would recommend. Only reason for 4 stars is lack of provided sd card.

Returned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this DashCam with the rear camera attachment based on positive reviews and research on line. I liked the looks, mounting and specs. Unfortunately, the camera/app kept seizing repeatedly while driving. Pressing the small reset button every time was annoying. Returned it. Disappointing.

A complete Dashcam
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera came well packaged good instructions. The materials seem high quality and very solid. As recommended, I plugged in the device and charged for 2 hours before setting it up. The camera comes with a car charger and a USB adapter for charging outside of the vehicle. While I was waiting for the device to charge, I installed the MyNextbase app on my android phone. I followed the onscreen instructions on the camera for setting up language, country and speed unit. The manufacturer recommends using the default settings for the camera, which I did, it then installed a firmware update on the camera. One thing that bothered me is that it seemed to hang at the end of the update. After waiting some time after it said it finished, I reset the camera and it appeared that the firmware had in fact been updated. From there I continued on the device and my phone to set up Alexa as my voice assistant. You do need to pair this with your phone in order to get the full functionality of this camera. It can automatically transfer videos to the phone in case of impact since the camera has a G Sensor witch measures forces exerted upon it and can call 911 or send a link to the videos via email. IT also has GPS built in which provides a GPS location stamp on your videos The camera comes with two mounting bases: one for permanent installation using 3M tape, and the other is a suction cup which I find comes off too easily in hot weather. The power cord is connected to the mount, not the camera making it easy to remove the camera when needed. The recordings are excellent both night and day. The camera can stream real-time video to the phone, or transfer videos to the phone. The default for the camera is one video per minute and can be changed if necessary. It also supports different models of rear-cameras and rear-passenger cameras. The camera uses microSD cards for recording video on the camera. IT supports up to 128GB according to the manufacturer. Overall this is an excellent camera with some great features. The video resolution is excellent and it was obviously built with many use cases in mind.

Performer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking into a dash camera you either want to be proactive or you have had an incident that you wished you had one. Well After testing the NextBase Dash Camera on a 3,821 mile journey from West coast to east coast I can say this is the one you want! Setup It was simple charged it for two hours then followed the onscreen instructions which took all of 2 minutes. The installation in the car was a little bit more time consuming as you need to position the holder on the windshield using the supplied 3M extra adhesive holder. Then you need to run the power cord to the charger, and you can use the included tool to hide the cord in the sides and roof, so they aren’t visible. Performance The camera offers you many options, but I found 1080p.60 to be very good on the open road and fast-moving objects. There is even a button you can quickly tap to lock and save the files! I didn’t notice much warping of the video with all the movement, so stabilizer was good, but on bumpy roads its rather up and down and hard to make out anything of use. I did enjoy being able to talk to it with the Alexa voice option you can setup on it. I had a 32GB mem card in the Camera and it gave me roughly 3hrs of video footage at a time. ( you can go up to 64 GB giving you 6 hrs depending on video quality) Video/App There is an app you can download to instantly download and share videos from your camera which worked well enough but did notice some disconnecting issues. I would highly suggest using the memory card and transfer from their as those will be faster and simpler. Overall the Camera is an amazing device and one that is discreet but captures the incidents as they unfold if it ever arises. My only complaint which will be minor is that in 100 plus desert heats the mount gets loose which is expected as the windshield and adhesive aren’t rated for that extreme temperature as it tends to act like silly putty.

Doesn’t get much better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’ve ever watched dash cam videos on YouTube, you’ll immediately get an idea what a valuable device they can be. No more, ‘your word against theirs’; now, you’ll have indisputable video evidence (I sound like an NFL referee) This 422GW dash cam from NextBase is a thing of beauty. It has 1440p HD recording that is ultra clear. You don’t need to be a gear head to install it, the (downloadable) manual gives pretty clear instructions on running the wiring in your car. I’ll admit, I struggled a bit to keep the wiring hidden, but after a little perseverance (and a lot of cussing), I managed to run the wire to my satisfaction. I’ve watched videos of people ripping out parts of their A pillar to install the cable. In my car, there’s an airbag in my A pillar, so no way was I risking that. There is also an optional hardwire kit that allows you to connect the cam directly to your vehicle’s fusebox (no, to that, too) The phone app is not bad. I used the app to connect my phone to the cam and install the firmware upgrade. The app also allows you watch live streams of your camera. The dash cam video can be configured to record in one, two or three minute intervals. I wasn’t crazy about that feature, because I was looking forward to watching a video I recorded while driving through a local state park. It was a pain to find the right video amongst several of them. Hopefully, you’ll never need it, but the camera will detect a crash, and provide valuable information (GPS location, speed of vehicle, time of incident, and sounds (provided you have those feature activated). Dash cams are a fun, yet vital part of driving. Protect yourself by investing in one. I highly recommend this one, it’ll provide everything you’ll need.

Your dash cam search ends here...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for the latest and greatest in dash cams, your search in my opinion is over...the 422 GW is one of the best in the evolution of dash cams so far. You get two mounting bases, a typical suction cup mount and a 3M adhesive mount. What I love about how the camera connect to power is it’s a magnetic connection that is both secure and easy to remove. I feel the magnetic power connection is more conducive to plugging and unplugging etc and I will be looking to purchase an additional power cord and mount for my other car so I can take from car to car which to me is a great added bonus. This is not a 4K model but the video quality is excellent both day and night (part of me thinks that 4K in some applications is overkill) and details such as signs etc are easily recorded. It also has the latitude and longitude displayed which allows for accurate placement of where you were etc in the event of an incident. While I like that it records as you drive etc the killer app for me is the parking protection. Sensitivity can be adjusted to a point where you really dont get many erroneous recordings and will capture the moment someone tries to bumper car park, providing it happens in the field of view of the cam of course. Integrated with Alexa is really cool which allows easy voice control of many features and is a definite plus. The App has great functionality and streams real time video to your phone. I will be purchasing the rear camera module that easily attaches to the side of the cam for the additional rear view recording. Overall this is a great dash cam and one of the best of the bunch, you won’t go wrong getting the Nextbase 422 GW.

Solid built with Good Picture Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera comes with everything you need, including 2 well designed mounting assemblies. One is semi permanent adhesive mount pad, and the other is suction. The connection to the camera makes use of magnetic connection, and the cable connects to the mount, so its well designed. Taking off the camera is easy with the magnetic mount, and no wires to connect each time- its connected to the mount ! I do wish the wire was thinner and easier to hide. Camera itself is touch screen, good resolution screen, and interconnects with your phone for more features. Instructions are fairly intuitive. Picture quality is good, and reasonable ability to recognize a license plate within fair distance. Body does feel solid and well built. Alexa integration with smart phone, and 911 SOS calling are nice features and potentially life saving. I really like this feature, and hope I never need to use it..The 1st year of service is included then its $4.99 a month, which is expensive. Pairing to my iPh was easy and no big deal. Camera has so far stayed connected. I did notice some quirks in the playback with my phone, and hope future updates will address these issues. All in all. I am impressed by this dash cam having had others in different cars and work vehicles. I think dash cams are a necessity these days. And a decent one makes sense.. When you need one, its good to have !

Great so far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first dashcam but the Nextbase 422GW exceeded my expectations for functionality, style, ease of use, and hardware specs. First of all, this thing is tiny, it basically feels like a GoPro that has all the connectivity hardware to make it a dashcam like the windshield mount and dash mount. It has a magnetized front panel connector that makes it easy to take on and off the actual mount. It would be awesome if they eventually made this mount the power connector. Startup is super fast, it should only power on while the car is turned on so its important for it to boot up and start recording automatically within 30 seconds or so which it does. I haven't done a full conceal as I am buying a spliced fuse cable to attach to my car's fuse box. One minor complaint is this thing still uses Mini USB. Not micro or even USB C to connect to the camera. Really enjoying it, has a great 1 touch feature to lock the camera in case you get in an accident and want to save the footage. I am not sure how long dashcams will be an accessory, I feel it is the next standard feature for higher end cars, but this dash cam is sooooo much more advanced than some of the units I've looked at in the past. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants extra insurance and security while driving!!!
