Constantly Freezes.

I use a 128 samsung high endurance sd card for dash cams and its been verified to be real. I use the same card in their 222 dash cam and don't have this issue and have actually swapped the cards around to have it work in the 222 and have the other freeze in the 522. The customer support for them tell you that you have to buy their overpriced sd card for it to not freeze. I bought this dashcam thinking I'd get my moneys worth and ill I got was a headache.

Very disappointed

I was unable to get Alexa to work but I was ok with that. It was great and then in less than 2 weeks of use, it stopped working. I was very disappointed because I thought I had found the perfect dash cam. Wanted to buy another one because I really liked the dash cam but I didn't want to risk buying another dud. Now I'm out a dash cam but I was able to get my money back. I would have been very upset if it had stopped working after I was able to return it. I wasn't offered the insurance when I purchased the camera and I didn't think about it at the time.

Garbage

They randomly wouldn’t record and would need to be unplugged and plugged back in. Then one of them decided to stop working all together. Although video was showing on the screen, the touch screen stopped responding, wasn’t recording, and couldn’t power it off. Over the air wi-fi downloads were extremely slow. About 1Mb per second. Each clip was minimum 100MB for 1 minute of video. Wi-fi stopped working altogether on the one that is still in one piece. Do not buy this junk. I’m going back to Garmin.

Never again

Stopping recording at 1 second is usually symptomatic of a loose rear camera cable or a failed SD card.
If you have a rear camera connected, I'd recommend removing the rear camera and seeing if the same issue happens again.

Dash Cam

Bluetooth disconnection is likely to be down to the phone/app settings.
iPhone: on your iPhone, go into Settings- MyNextbase- Background Refresh Data- Ensure this is turned on. If you see 'Location' this must also be set to 'Always'.
Then go to your MyNextbase Connect app and click on the menu in the top left of the app home screen. Select App Settings and turn on ‘Enable Low Resolution Downloads'.
Android: on your phone, go into Settings- Apps- MyNextbase- Notifications- Ensure these are set to On. Then go back one screen to Permissions and ensure these are also turned on.
Then go to your MyNextbase Connect app and click on the menu in the top left of the app home screen. Select App Settings and turn on ‘Prefer Wi-Fi Direct Downloads’, ‘Allow analytics’ and ‘Enable Low Resolution Downloads'.

Really, really poor design.

Although it is very nice looking, nothing else was worth the trouble. After attempting to charge for 2 hours as instructed, no charge. Spent more time trying to charge on my computer, nothing, then tried a battery bank, you guessed it, nothing. It would show a full charge for maybe 2 minutes, then dead. I had purchased the rear view camera as well; read on line to remove it for charging, nothing, read to turn off a setting, nothing. Taking back to Best Buy. My day would have been better spent taking a nap!

No good at all.

Like it specifically says. The phone application also the same. Constant disconnecting and reconnecting of the device in order to get it to work one time each time. Customer service was great but could not figure out the problem.

After updating the firmware and trying various fixes, you will be victim of a UK company that will never resolve your issue. I believe the Best Buy price for this product was intentionally low based upon this. I learned the issue was not going to be resolved shortly after the item was no longer returnable. It has been a total waste of money. The primary reason for this over other devices is the extended functionality which is not usable without the app.

Thank you for your review. SD cards only have limited lifespans. In our manuals we recommend formatting every 2-3 weeks to prolong the life of the card. Without this regular formatting, or if the card is non-compatible or damaged, the card could corrupt which would cause a failure of data writing.
Symptoms of SD card failure are: an audible 'alarm' tone, non-functional buttons, freezing, corrupted files on playback, image missing from files, lack of file recording etc.
I'd recommend a Dash Cam compatible 8GB -128GB U3 Micro SD card, specifically designed for Dash Cam or CCTV usage. Using a dash cam compatible SD card instead should then allow your Dash Cam to function as designed. The card needs to have a minimum continuous write speed of 48MB/s.
For guaranteed functionality I'd suggest a Nextbase Micro SD card.

Never will buy nextbase

It does not work properly. It’s always freezing and slow. Too many problems to list I’m gonna throw it away and go with a different brand because next base is putting out a Junk product.

Useless

waste of money

Rubbish or Not Rubbish?

You might experience a heat issue if using an incorrect SD card in your dashcam, please refer to the following link for more information on this: https://www.nextbase.com/en-us/hub/which-sd-card-do-i-use-in-my-dash-cam/
To confirm that the card is at fault, remove this from the unit and press the reset button on the underside to force restart, leave the SD card out and confirm that the issue is resolved while the unsuitable card is removed.
We always recommend using a Nextbase SD card for best results with your Nextbase dashcam as these are designed specifically to work with this.
