This is a lightweight unit that was very easy to install with good video/audio. Having a recorded account/witness I think is a must these days and while this is my 1st dashcam so have nothing to compare it to – I would recommend. One issue I had was it did not come with a suction cup – only 3M tape. I wanted to be able to easily move the dashcam around the windshield to find the best position for recording and least obtrusive to vision while driving. As I was contemplating how to proceed, I went to NextBase site, and they have a suction cup available - so I ordered it and waited a little over a week for it to arrive (free shipping). It easily replaces the provided tape with just a click or 2. I am glad I waited as I wound up moving it around the windshield multiple times until I found the perfect spot. Now I can easily move from vehicle to vehicle as well – an added benefit. So, I would suggest purchasing the suction cup, but I am dis-appointed it wasn’t included with the unit (took off a star). Another quibble is the little plastic ball that connects unit to cup has limited side to side motion and no way to tighten. I am concerned that this connection, overtime, will start loosening allowing unit to move. It does come with a 32-inch USB mini plug to charge unit – no USB-C. I charged for a day - not sure how long internal battery lasts but its only used when parked in case of break-in, etc. Also provided is a 150-inch 12-24V power cord and a handy little plastic “device” to help you tuck cord into your cars seams to make it “invisible”. It worked well and the length should be more than enough for installation. I decided to record using 1080P 60 fps video (multiple options) and 2 minutes video length ( 1 or 3 also options). Recordings are clear and has minimal distortion or and audio was exceptionally clear. Even night recording was impressive. A micro-sd card is not normally included but a 16GB was provided for my review and it came with a SD adapter. If purchasing the card needs to be a U2 (minimum 20MB/s) or better. I tried a U1 and while it did let me reformat it gave an error when trying to record. I had a 500GB U2 card around and it formatted (FAT32) and recorded fine – so up to 500GB card can be used. Its easy enough to take out and review recordings on a computer too. Setup in app was easy enough as was connecting to wifi network. I am still fiddling with the settings/app but look forward to using. Overall, a nice light weight compact unit simple to setup and use.

I gave it 4 STARS due to disconnect issues. Other than that it has a super clear 4K picture. Easy to remove when necessary. I'm using the cigarette lighter install options. The installer did a wonderful job hiding the cords out of view, you would think its connect to the battery. I love it. now I have a piece of mine catching offensive drivers and proof of collisions.

The image quality is good, its an improvement from my old 1080 dashcam from another brand. But like others have commented its too expensive. I bought it when there was a small discount for $340 [I had to buy it as a package deal]. The App for android is slightly difficult to do the initial setup. User friendliness could be improved. Its the newest version for Nextbase so its an improvement from the 522 version which I tested inperson and I could see the fuzziness.

Nextbase’s newest generation dashcam fixed a lot of the nitpicking issues I had with my previous models. I loved the stability and modularity of the Nextbases so much I put one in both my car as well as my wife’s car. What issues did I have? Well, videos even in daylight with my models from a few years ago were crisp, until I tried to zoom in and catch license plates during videos taken during incidents. The 622GW adds digital image stabilization for clearer images despite the vibrations that occur when you get hit. In addition, What3Words is baked into the unit. For those unfamiliar, it’s an app that uses three key words to provide precise geolocation during an emergency. Takes the guesswork out of telling dispatch, “I rolled my car in the rain and I’m in a ditch somewhere off the road” and instead allows them to find you much more accurately with only the three words. Also, on my previous models, I had to buy separate polarizing filters for the cameras, but this year, in the 622GW, the filters are built in. With a side slot that allows you to add modules (sold separately) you can get a specific rear camera for the interior (like for ride-sharing security) or rear facing to record behind your car. No separate software to install, you literally just plug in the module and it’s good to go. Firmware updates are easy through the MyNextbase app, which also lets you live view, review/save videos, and check on your sd card memory or even format all from the app.

This dash cam has some probelems

After a few days of interent forums and reddit this cam has serious problems. First problem is the internal battery is trash and after seeing some real reviews on reddit and dashcam forums. The battery seems to only last 6mos to a year and is impossible to replace as replacement batteries on the site are never in stock. So a $400 camera becomes a brick. So if you wanna protect your car while parked theres a great chance it wont have the juice to captire anything. Second problem is only certain SD cards work as it looks like it was designed this way to make you buy their own branded card as seen on the box. It causes the camera to freeze on start up. Who knows if i would work while your car is off and parked. This camera seems to be a money grab and is probably why alot of yiutube reviews dont even mess with reviewing them. Its designed to work past the warranty and fail. The camera is nice but the guts of if is made as cheap as possible. I would avoid and look elsewhere.

Hello, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered with your camera. We take customer feedback seriously and will use it to improve our products and services. We do recommend our own SD cards as they have been designed for our cameras to deal with the constant loop recording and overwriting of the footage. A battery is classed as a consumable item so can fail after a certain amount of charge cycles, but it should not fail within the Dash Cam warranty period. The product is performing great, It turns on whenever the vehicle starts and overall captures great footage, telemetry, GPS, velocity etc... If you want the best hands off and easy experience with a dashcam this thing is the way to go. Nextbase sells other dashcams that are sub 4k capture quality but its best that you skip those and jump to this 4k model in order to best capture a license plate, and I mean it. My only critique is that the device only recognizes 1 phone device, meaning that once you paired your (MyNextBase) app to the camera you must go to the camera's setting to unpair the phone whenever someone else wants to pair their phone to the camera. Also whenever you want to re-pair your phone to the camera, you must press forget (nextbase) Bluetooth profile from your phone then re-initiate the pairing process from the app to the camera. Other than that the pairing process is reliable and stable whenever you whip out your phone thereafter because the camera sees your phone as its sole user. However its best to get a 128gb SD card as the SD card fills up quickly with 4k footage, and I mean it.

I like this Dashcam and the quality videos it produces. It's very easy to use along with straight forward setting options. You can also touch the screen while in use to take a picture. The Wi-Fi set-up was quick and easy although it does go into a spin cycle before connecting sometimes. I don't use it with the phone so that's not really an issue for me. my one issue was the Firmware update which took several tries to complete.

Good camera, easy to use menus, easy install. One issue noticed is that the internal battery doesn't seem to hold up very well. Have hardwired the camera and rear camera into the vehicle, so not a big deal as it charges while the vehicle is on. Desktop software very useful. Built-in Alexa is good too.

Huge step up from my cheap dashcam

The first thing I noticed with the Nextbase dashcam is how wide the angle is compared to my cheap dashcam. It covers much more of the road which can be a huge help if there is a problem and you need to see other cars. The clarity is also superb compared to my previous model. It records in 1-minute increments and is very easy to connect to a PC and review, save and store any that you might need. It also connects to Alexa and I am still playing with those settings. You can apparently ask Alexa to take a picture, save video, etc. There is also a button on the bottom to push and save video. I have used Alexa to ask about the traffic on my commute to and from work. Having a quality dashcam can pay for itself if it helps exonerate you in one accident. I have shared a screenshot of the video (the video was too large to upload even when I cropped it to just a short clip). You can see the picture quality, the direction, longitude, latitude, and speed along with the date and time at the bottom. The only downside is that the included instructions are minimal. You need to download the app and find instructions there. I prefer a manual I can hold in my hand and look up items.

    Excellent DashCam for Motorcycles

Hear me out, excellent camera for motorcycle rides! I got rid of my car a while ago and now just use a motorcycle, I’ve been looking at different vendors to get a dashcam to record and track my rides, which is often me driving into areas I’ve never been before, and I forget exactly where I was when I saw interesting things. I originally tested the dashcam on a bike usability by purchasing a cheap $60 dashcam, which has stuck to my windshield for over 2 years(!!). That made me comfortable knowing that a new mount/cam won’t fall off on the ride, and can now buy a more expensive dashcam with actual features. The first thing I noticed when researching this particular dashcam, is that the file lengths are only 1, 2, and 3 minutes (vs my 15 minutes on my cheap dashcam). The UK support told me the reason lengths are so short is to quickly save files and not have gaps between files. For reference, there would always be a 2-3 second gap between my 15 minute files. Even though that does not sound like much – it is, especially if you want to take an image that occurred in those 2-3 seconds! It can be frustrating! When the dashcam arrived, there is a rather large notice on the box “BE SURE TO USE A NextBase microSD card, Available separately” and the instructions also note the importance of using their card versus another other card, even if it’s a U3 rated card. I take issue with this – if it is important to use their own card, then they should *include* a card, don’t sell it separately! Especially since their branded cards are much more expensive than regular U3 cards. They say you *can* use any cards, but it will eventually fail…so again, this is very lousy way to force you to buy their card after you’ve spent a lot of money on the original dashcam. Another lousy thing, they have a polarizing filter you can add, which for sure would help any ride, but did they include that? No, of course not! So now I’m reading the instructions and I have 2 items I should have, but don’t! That was very frustrating. I highly recommend downloading the manual from their website, as the one included doesn’t really have enough info on the configuration/settings, THERE ARE A LOT! After configuring all the settings (including turning Image Stabilization on and setting Impact Sensitivity to low), I mounted it camera to my bike, and took off for a ride towards and around Downtown Los Angeles. On my way down there, I noticed that the camera went into Protect mode a few times – because it thought I was in an accident. I wound up having to turn off Impact Sensitivity, which I also did on my previous dashcam so that was expected – it’s a bike, it’s going to bounce a lot. I did not bother using the NextBase IOS app, but I did use the PC app, and what an experience! As you can see from the picture, the player shows you the video, the speed, the location, how much the image stabilizer is working, and the file route segment in a google maps corner. In this example it only shows a short street because I have not combined any of the videos, which you can also do. This is extremely helpful, as now I can pinpoint where any cool murals I stumble into are exactly located! Lastly – the image stabilization is fantastic – my videos are all very smooth with it on! All of my previous videos on the cheap dashcam were all very bumpy. Pros: Excellent Image Stabilization Touch screen, including a button to protect the video (so it doesn’t get erased) Strong Magnetic connection from dashcam to mount USB cable plugs into the mount, instead of the camera, and the mount separates and attaches easily GPS and MPH (or KMH), Date and Time stamps on the video (these are options that can be turned on or off, including adding your license place on the video) Ability to merge files to a longer video Cons: NextBase branded/formatted cards are required, but they do not include it Polarizing filter recommended, also not included NextBase Player takes a long time to load 37 HD files(for this ride) and it looks like the player gets stuck/frozen, but it’s just creating the thumbnails, so be patient. 2 hour ride = 28GB, I only have a 64GB card, so I’ll have to wait until there is a sale on their cards to buy a much bigger one, even though I have multiple 256GB U3 cards, which if I believe them, will all fail eventually. As you can see, there aren’t that many cons on this – the 2 cons are essentially lousy sales techniques, and loading a lot of video files is expected to be slow. I *love* this dashcam – for my bike, I’m so glad I contacted UK support prior to ordering this, otherwise I would not have ordered it thinking that 3 minute video files are totally useless. I did not think to ask support about the importance of their branded cards, if I had, then I would have gone ahead and ordered their cards, instead of ordering mine (which I am not even going to bother testing). I guess that is a reminder to always read online manuals / FAQs of any expensive products to make sure it will meet your expectations!

After owning (and being disappointed) with other dash cams, I have finally found one that delivers as promised. Pros: -4K! image is fantastic -Image stabilization, this makes a huge difference in the video quality. -Alexa, as an Alexa user at home I found this integration seamless and have found myself using it frequently. -Night Mode, by far the best night time video from a dash cam -Wifi & Bluetooth, easy, quick connection to bluetooth when you get in the car. Cons: -None yet I have enjoyed this camera so far and recommend to anyone looking for the best of the best.

Not a very good dash cam. I have had a few in the past, but I went for this one because I read/heard a lot of good reviews. Mine would not update the firmware while connected to my new iPhone nor the computer, both with excellent internet connection. Also, it would freeze while turning on, I would have to wait for the battery to die before doing anything. Not even the manual reset button would work. True 4K footage, but everything else 1 star.

Yes it's expensive and it does have pros and cons: PRO- -4K videos - fantastic -easy to remove and take with you -cable was easy to route with the included spudger, it took about 10 minutes to hide in my vehicle CON- -very particular about the SD card you have to use. Make sure it is endurance rated. The unit will (ours has several times) freeze. After a second purchase I found a compatible SD card that does work and isn't as expensive as the OEM card. -it gets VERY HOT - be careful of the metal contact surfaces that mount the unit to your windshield This is our second Unit, but our only 4K unit. The difference in the quality of the recording is noticeable.

Best Dash Cam I've Owned So Far

This 622GW 4K dash cam from Nextbase has replaced my previous dash cam that I've had for a few years now and I am seriously impressed with the step up from that cam to this one. The 622GW is chocked full of features and allows recording up to 4K/30fps. The usual features are here such as image stabilization, the ability to adjust the shock sensor, image exposure, etc. to be able to dial in the picture that you want. I LOVE that this cam doesn't require any additional hardware to track GPS location and speed. The menu functions well and is pretty snappy. The included hardware allows for basically any install that you might need depending on your vehicle. For my specific setup, I'm using the suction cup mount with the USB cable run to the suction cup base rather than the camera itself. I prefer to use the more permanent mounting solutions but I plan on having my cracked windshield replaced this week so I will go with that mounting solution then. I prefer the 4K/30fps resolution setting as it actually uses less memory than the 1440p/60fps setting and provides an extra level of detail. Honestly, 1080p is, in nearly all cases, all you've ever need. However, on dash cams, I prioritize picture fidelity over more frames per second. Integration with Nextbase's app works very well and allows for easy setup of the camera on initial use. I've found that pairing Alexa with the dash cam is more of a novelty for someone like me as I'd just prefer to use the "video lock" button on the camera to protect a recording. However, I could see how being able to use voice commands would be useful. I also prefer to just remove the memory card itself in order to transfer footage but using the app does work well and seems to be well polished. Probably most importantly, this dash cam has just worked from day one. I haven't had any weird glitches or freezes and I haven't had to manually power it on in cases where it should've come on by itself. There is nothing like having peace of mind knowing that you'll be able to show someone EXACTLY what happened if you need to. HIGHLY recommend this dash cam!

    4K Dash Cam!!!

Over the years I have used multiple dash cams and by far this one is probably the best that I have encountered so far. From its 4K crystal clear image to its abundance of features and ease of use, the NextBase 622GW will not disappoint. Let’s go over the features and Pros and Cons on the NextBase 622GW 4K Dash Cam. Unboxing and Setup: In the box you will find pretty much everything you will need to setup and install the Dashcam. For this review an SD card was provided, but it is not included with the dashcam, that is the only item you will need to get separately. You will find in the box a mounting bracket that attaches to the dashcam magnetically, so it can be removed easily if needed, and an extra window mounting sticker. You are also provided power cable, USB cable, power cable fitting tool and a quick start guide. This dashcam can be used without the NextBase app, but I highly recommend that you download the app and connect the dashcam to your phone because it does allow you to easily change the options, settings and to access your videos directly to your phone and even has videos on how to install the dashcam. When I first connected my phone to the dashcam, I was prompted to a firmware update which took about 5 minutes and after that my dashcam was ready to go. Features: The dashcam features a 3 inch and very responsive touchscreen, 140 Degree FOV, power button, SD card slot, Bluetooth 5.0 and the only dashcam I have used that uses 5Ghz WIFI connection, which makes updating and downloading videos a snap. The dashcam offers multiple resolution options ranging from 4K 30FPS to 1080P 30FPS and super slow motion, along with the ability to record audio, time, Speed, and GPS stamps. The dash cam also features image stabilization technology which actually works great and have not seen in many other dashcams. The dashcam also has G-Shock sensor, intelligent parking mode and an auto on and off features, all of which can be adjusted to your liking. The dashcam also features ESOS option that is once setup will allow Nextbase to dispatch emergency services if the driver becomes unresponsive, the first year is free for that service, but after that there is a charge of $3.99 a month. The dashcam will send an alert to your phone which the user must cancel within 120 sec, and if the user does not cancel the alert, emergency services will be dispatched. And if you were curios, yes, this dashcam is also compatible with Alexa. The only problem I had with this dashcam is that it is not yet compatible with the google eco system and that is what I use. PROS: AMAZING VIDEO QUALITY – DAY AND NIGHT (MULTIPLE VIDEO RESULTION OPTIONS) WIFI AND BLUETOOTH DITIGTAL IMAGE STABILIZATION SOS FEATURE (1 YEAR FREE AND $3.99 A MONTH AFTER THAT) AUDIO, TIME, SPEED AND GPS LOCATION STAMP ALEXA BUILT-IN (FOR THOSE WHO USE ALEXA) LIVE VIEW OPTION ON PHONE WHEN CONNECTED OPTION TO ADD REAR VIEW CAMERA ABILITY TO DOWNLOAD VIDEOS TO YOUR PHONE WIRELESSLY CONS: NOT COMPITABLE WITH GOOGLE ECO SYSTEM YET – IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE SOMETHING COMPITABLE WITH ALEXA THEN YOU NEED TO THINK OF THE GOOGLE USERS AS WELL Overall, I am very impressed with the number of features, options and the video quality of the Nextbase 622GW dashcam. In my opinion a dashcam is a must have to keep you safe and to give you that piece of mind and it does not get any better than the Nextbase. If you are in the market for a dashcam, I would highly recommend you check out this dashcam before looking any further.

Picked up the dash cam and am pretty happy with it so far. The picture quality is great and the image stabilization is great! It was easy to install. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the battery on the camera. I have to have it plugged in at all times even after I charged the camera itself. The software is nice but it is the only place to really see all the features the camera offers. On the mobile app, I wish it'd allow to zoom in. It may, but I have not figured it out yet. Overall a great camera and I'd recommend it and I would also recommend getting the 128GB SD card and not a smaller one.

This is the first dash camera I have ever had personally. Even why running a commercial transportation company several years ago. We always wanted this technology to be this convenient but again that was several years ago. Out of the box the Nextbase 622GW is sleek and stylish. I was worried that the touch screen display would not be responsive like most modern-day printers with the like feature. However, the 622 has a 3" LED HD IPS touchscreen that is actually very responsive. The instruction request that you charge the unit for two hours prior to first operations. After completing this task, I then downloaded the Nextbase app to upgrade the devices firmware as suggested in the instructions. Getting the app to properly download to the 622 was a chore but not a challenge and after several attempts it finally took. The app much like the camera's user interface is extremely easy to navigate and allows for a quick and easy setup. I then mounted the camera just behind the vehicle's rearview mirror after some mild adjustments to the lens due to a glare my car had. I appreciate that the camera comes with a tucking tool to give that professional install look. I have a satellite radio that did not, and those wires are strung underneath my back seat. This will be corrected since I now have the tool readily available. We were then able to get some real road time footage. I was amazed at the image stabilization and the quality of the video playback even on the camera itself. The 4K playback on my computer looked so good that it made me actually try this thing out as a little mini handycam. You can choose the footage record time and even select the lock button option on video storage. You need to do this because the video footage works on a first in first out storage logic. Meaning the memory card, once almost full will overwrite the oldest data first to make sure the camera is always recording. I was supplied a 128 GB Nextbase branded card for testing purposes, which seems to be an excellent choice considering the video quality. Thankfully, during my testing period I did not have to try out the emergency SOS feature or extreme weather mode. However, if enable the SOS feature will let you call out to ALEXA to send an emergency response to your location via a GPS signal. Nor did we have inclement weather. The enhanced night vision was also really good. The play back at 120 frames per second in 1080p slow mode would even allow you to be able to read street signs from a nighttime replay. All together I have really enjoyed the security of the dash camera. The camera was amazingly easy to setup, install, use, and replay. The Nextbase 622GW meets or beats any of my expectations. My only concern will be the camera sitting in my black vehicle during the middle of summer and its ability to hold up.

Camera quality and video clarity from the camera is very good. Ease of setting up and connecting it my android phone was very easy. Yet to test it out completely, so far it has held good. Couple of things I would've expected from the price was, they could've bundled the hard wire kit in the box, another thing which I felt miss was the suction mount. (They gave provided sticky base which is of very high quality).

The dash cam's quality is great, the Nextbase app is simple to use just have to tinker with it for a while until you get the hang of it. The best part of this purchase for me was the sales rep that helped me out twice since when i first purchased the system i got the 32gb memory card and apparently somebody got into the box and took the memory card before the purchase, the rep. accepted the return no questions asked and order me a new one . The second time i went in to buy the rear view camera add on and noticed the same dash cam system was on sale for $80 cheaper so to my surprise i got the same sales rep again and he remembered me and was able to get me the discount for the dash cam i purchased a week earlier, such a GREAT REP seriously saved me big on my purchase , sadly i did not get the name of the rep i hope somehow Best Buy can ID who helped me with all this i know not much of a review on the dash cam , it is good quality and easy to use, a little pricey but worth it with all its add ons and features. Thanks to the sale reps a Best Buy i had a hassle free and friendly experience!!
