I bought it and when I start installing it and I want to accommodate it in a way that looks good it broke when I started to manipulate it very delicate camera and very bad quality the plastic is of very poor quality and the resolution is very bad too and that’s what I bought the 4k they don’t have a good image!

Not good ...It keeps failing to connect to front camera ...too many obstacles to even get it to respond.

I've been using the normal iQ dash camera without the rear view for a while and I love it so it's nice to be able to easily add in the rear camera without much fuss or hassle. Overall the main things I noticed is that install was super easy all you have to do is run a single cable from up front where the existing iQ dash cam is to the rear of your car where you want the rear camera to be mounted. I have a smaller hatchback so the cable was more than enough length wise (so much so that I had to think about where to hide the extra cable) so even in a larger vehicle I don't think the included cable length will be an issue. All of the mounting was also super easy just clean the window and stick the camera where it needs to be, super simple and easy. For adding the camera in the phone app for the iQ camera its also very straight forward. you swipe up on your camera in the home screen the one with the map and the camera preview and then you tap the add rear camera button. Then Just follow the prompts for when to connect the camera. It was that easy. It then did a camera software update (probably so the rear camera software could be updated/matched) and after a few minutes its there in the app to view. This has been one of the most painless rear camera installs I've done. I'm sure running the cable in some cars might be more difficult than others but in my car it was super straight forward and easy. video quality when looking at downloaded videos is just as good as the front camera at least to me its hard to notice a real difference which is nice since that's not always the case when you add rear modules to other systems. And even in the streaming mode the camera view is pretty good and looks similar to the front facing camera. I've also noticed that viewing angle from the rear is nice and wide so it covers everything I would want a rear facing camera to see. Overall the system works well and was super easy to install which is always a bonus in my books.

Product sucks at night, doesn’t have night vision, at night while parked in my driveway camera is pointless. Worse unit ever

Rear Camera takes for ever to synch with front IQ4, hard to watch it live on your app, I am in good spot with 3-4 bars on cell coverage (4G). I wish I would never have gotten rid of my 622 system. This is a rip off for 199.00

I returned my iq rear camera because I couldn’t get it to work now i see it’s not available anywhere there must be a problem with them at the moment

I purchased this camera and installed the camera and it never came on. It did not work at all. I am very disappointed. Unfortunely i had to return it and now have no rear camer. Why cant they fix this.

My Nextbase iQ Rear Window camera rarely works, so I would give it zero stars.

The Nextbase iQ rear camera is designed to complement the Nextbase iQ dash cam system, providing an extra layer of protection and peace of mind. The Nextbase iQ Rear Camera box came with the rear camera, two zip-ties, a 26-foot USB C cable, a stick-on cable holder, wipes to clean the window, an extra 3m window tape, and a plastic pry tool to help hide the camera cable along the seams of the vehicle.  I encountered some troubles with the initial setup.  The Nexbase iQ App was unable to recognize the rear camera.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and disconnecting and reconnecting the USB-C cable from both the base camera and the rear camera. After several unsuccessful attempts, I waited for approximately 20 minutes, restarted the engine on my vehicle, and the rear camera connected to the app.  Once connected, the app asked to be updated.  I received an error message that my cellular phone must be connected to a 4G network.  So, I took the vehicle for a drive.  After several minutes, the rear camera connected perfectly.  I took several trips around town before reviewing the footage on the app.  The rear camera's standout feature is its high-resolution recording in 1440p Quad HD, which even in low light conditions, captured clear and detailed footage. The rear camera's 140-degree field of view covered a broad area behind my vehicle. Besides providing all-around vehicle protection, this camera offers smart sense parking (protection against threats while your vehicle is parked), Guardian Mode provides an extra layer of security by notifying you of any unauthorized movement or speeding,  Roadwatch AI (Not currently available) offers insights into road conditions and potential hazards.  Before considering the rear camera, it's crucial to ensure compatibility with your existing Nestbase iQ dash cam model. The Nextbase iQ rear camera is compatible with IQ Models 1K,2K, or 4K, ensuring that it seamlessly integrates with your current setup. Some advanced features might require a subscription to the Nextbase IQ service, but the Nextbase iQ rear camera is a solid choice for those seeking to enhance their vehicle's security. Its high-resolution recording, Smart Sense Parking, and Guardian Mode features offer valuable protection.

If you’re looking to supplement your existing Nextbase iQ front/cabin camera, this is what you’ll need. It’s a decent, albeit pricey, addition if you want to expand your Nextbase iQ camera coverage. I’ll start with the negatives.. - Although the physical installation was relatively easy, and greatly depends on your vehicle, getting the main iQ to recognize the rear camera was a complete pain in the rear. I followed the instructions presented by the app no less than 6 times, even going a bit rogue and eventually pressing the reset button on the main unit. Everything I tried just resulted in the wizard looping as if it didn’t even see the rear camera. I knew the rear camera had power, as I could see the status light illuminating. After 30-45 minutes of this, I figured I’d just have to reach out to tech support when I returned from dinner. While at dinner I received an alert on the Nextbase app, so I naturally checked it. To my surprise, the rear camera was now available and recording footage. No clue why it suddenly started working, but it did and has been ever since. - Cost. The cost to get into the base 1k (they also have a 2k & 4k model) system with a rear camera is pushing $500. The rear camera alone is $200 which, in my opinion, is a bit steep just for an add-on. - The Roadwatch A.I. feature is still ‘coming soon’. I reviewed the main iQ unit back in December 2023 and commented on this as well. That said, if you’re looking at purchasing the rear camera, you likely already know this but I still felt it was worth noting. - The rear camera uses a pig-tail to connect to the extension cable, which then connects to the main unit. I’m not sure why they chose this design over just plugging the extension cable directly into the rear camera. If the extension cable gets damaged, you’ve got a pretty good chance at being able to replace it at a reasonable cost. If the pigtail gets damaged, then what; buy another $200 rear camera?? The positives… - Everything you should need to physically install the camera is included. Extra adhesive pad, alcohol wipes, some zip ties, even a small trim tool to help tuck the cable. - The cable should be plenty long to enable installation in most vehicles. - Picture quality is good and the app enables you to make minor adjustments to exposure. - The camera mount itself has a ball joint that lets you make adjustments to the field of view after you’ve adhered it to the window. Overall, it’s fine. The main reason I got this was because I have a truck, and the thought of having a camera that could also watch my truck bed appealed to me. If I had a car/SUV, I don’t know if it would be worth the cost.

As someone who spends a large amount of time in their car for work and play, I was excited to get the Nextbase iQ 4K Smart Dash Cam about 6 months ago. I have the Nextbase ProtectionPlus plan through the subscription plan and have really enjoyed the peace of mind that the system has provided while driving and when my vehicle is parked. The one piece that was missing is the Nextbase iQ Rear Camera and now I have added that to complete the system. In The Box – As this is an add-on to the Nextbase iQ system, this is just the Rear Window Camera, a 24.5’ power and data cable, an extra 3M mounting pad, wiring tool, alcohol wipes, zips ties and mounting bracket and manuals. Set Up – The Nextbase iQ Rear Window Camera was super easy to add to my existing Nextbase 4K system. Simply connect the supplied data/power cable to the original Nextbase hub and the other end connects via a USB-C connection to the camera. In the Nextbase app select Add Rear Camera and follow the prompts. It took less than 5 minutes for the camera to be added and to run the firmware update that initiated when adding the rear camera. Once the digital connection is made, I positioned the camera in the middle of my rear hatch window and used the camera view to get it as straight as possible before actually mounting it with the 3M pad. The camera is attached to the base on a ball-mount that allows for adjustments as needed once attached. The rear camera can only be mounted one way. For me personally, the hardest part of the install is finding a good route to run the single power/data cable from front to back in my Mercedes. The curtain airbags make it challenging to run there, but once I was able to get past that area it was relatively straightforward. Features: The rear window camera supports 2560 x 1440 resolution (2K), a 30fps frame rate, and has a 140-degree viewing angle for great coverage across the rear of the vehicle. Once installed, the proximity sensor can be adjusted to fit your required notification within the Nextbase iQ app. It’s a sleek design that does not block the driver’s view. 2K Recording – This was one of the features that really impressed me on this cam. The true 2K output allows for easy viewing of the outside world around your vehicle. This is particularly important in the case of any type of accident, incident, etc. The details are captured in clear and viewable detail. Witness Mode – In today’s world with road rage and other incidents on the rise, Witness Mode is a great option to alert 3rd parties of your current situation. Simply use voice commands to begin recording and sharing with your pre-determined emergency contacts. Emergency SOS – another potential life-saving option that sends out an automated notice to emergency services in the event of a detected serious accident. Always on 4G connection – allows the Nextbase iQ to be left on and always connected, even if you’re not in the vehicle. It also provides quick remote access to any recordings stored on the iQ cam unit. Roadwatch AI – is listed as “Coming Soon” still within the app Pros: - 2K recording capabilities provides evidence-worthy video capture - Ease of set up by adding to existing Nextbase 4K system - Well-made camera, high quality fit and finish - Emergency SOS, Witness and Parking mode and live feeds options - Always on 4G connection for use while not in vehicle and easy remote access to video files - Parking Mode - Ability to keep an eye on your vehicle when it’s unattended is a game-changer - GPS tracking feature – another data point for evidence in a crash or other incident - Customizable proximity settings Cons: - Although there are several features available without a plan, to really take advantage of this camera, purchasing a monthly/yearly subscription is essentially required. - Roadwatch AI is still listed as “Coming Soon” although Nextbase has added features since I purchased back in late 2023.

I was so excited to get this Nextbase IQ rear facing camera to pair it with my Nextbase 1K Smart Dash Cam. With the features and capabilities that this Nextbase dash cam gave me with front facing as well as cabin view, this Nextbase IQ rear facing camera now has me covered from every angle. Physically it’s a perfect match style wise to my front facing camera. Long gone are the days of crappy video where you can’t tell who is who or what is what in what’s recorded by your cameras. The Nextbase rear cam records in 2k and looks absolutely amazing, so crisp and clear! And like my Nextbase Dash cam it too has witness mode. In this mode, iQ will focus on the what’s going on and share live footage with a trusted contact so they can step in and help. The features this brings to the table is like having a live security agent in your car at all times who you can check in with and make sure everything is ok. Giving you the peace of mind that you can check in and around your car at any point and time you want from anywhere you are is priceless. Roadwatch AI was also a new feature to me. It allows you to go back and retrieve video, It will show the approximate speed and distance of vehicles around you in recordings, while also classifying pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and more to track their movements as you watch. I don’t know of any dash cams that are that advanced in recognizing and differentiating things like that. And when dealing with an accident and insurance companies, the more detailed proof you have in your defense is a game changer. SmartSense parking enables your iQ to detect threats using Spatial Awareness and custom-trained AI to monitor movement around your vehicle, including potential break ins, a car backing up too close, or people loitering around your car. You can basically set off an alarm or speak to the would-be troublemakers thinking of breaking into or vandalizing your vehicle. I was already happy with the IQ dash cam and now that I’ve completed the set I’m elated! I would highly recommend this rear cam and the front for full car coverage!

I currently own a 2k IQ Nextbase dash camera. I grown to love it. I love that I can access video inside and outside of my car at any time. I almost don’t know how I lived without it. The 9.99 fee is worth it considering all the things this camera can do. Enter this add on piece to go along with the already great dash cam. This little buddy is a worthy addition to this camera. With the already wide viewing area provided by the front dash cam, this rear camera gives you even more. Nearly a 360 view, inside and outside of your vehicle! What a great compliment to the front camera. Of course it still provides recording of everything even on the rear camera. It easily integrates with the Nextbase app. You’re able to view video of your vehicle inside and out in real time. I really like the app and it has a well thought out design. The only drawback I have with the app is that it is pretty slow when trying to access live video. I wish it were faster but it’s something I can deal with. Not a total dealbreaker in my opinion. It such a great feeling to know that I can get alerts if activated in parking mode. Now I’ll get alerts even when the back of my vehicle detects motion. It was very easy to install. It just takes some time to route the cord from the front dash cam all the way to the back window. I had to do this for speaker wire in my vehicle so I’m used to it but it may take some time to route it. A prying tool is provided in the package to help hide the cord under the vehicle fabric. This rear camera is well built and is an attractive addition to the already superb Nextbase IQ 2K dashcam. I highly recommend purchasing this as a great companion to the dashcam. The integration is seamless. Also, it’s compatible with many of Nextbase’s camera line up. So even if you don’t have an IQ you can still use this camera.

I’ve had the Nextbase iQ since last fall and I love it. Adding the rear camera makes the entire package perfect. It has the same quality feel as the iQ. Much better than many dash cameras. It attaches to the front camera with one single cord that is more than long enough to accommodate any vehicle. I simply ran the cord tucked under the plastic edges of the ceiling of the car. The one cord also handles the power so no need for a separate power source. Image quality is excellent and the view is very wide. Do be sure that when you stick it to the window you have it where you want it. The sticky pad is strong! Once you have it hooked up, you simply have a new rear view in the app that is controlled just like the main camera. I did have a little trouble getting the camera to show in the app. However, this was fixed by a quick visit to the Nextbase website. After connecting the camera, the app still said there was no rear camera. It was definitely connected properly as the rear camera had lights so I knew it was connected. The website suggested disconnecting the rear camera and push the very tiny reset button on the main iQ. After this hard reset was finished, everything worked perfectly.

Nextbase has stated on top of the dashcam have game. With the their new Nextbase IQ dashcams, they’ve taken dashcams to a completely new level. The IQ rear camera is a great addition to my Nextbase iQ 4K dashcam. The IQ rear cam adds a greater layer of protection to my vehicle. The installation can take a while since you’ll have to run the cable from the back all the way to the front cam. Depending on how you decide to run the cable, it can be a simple process with the interior trim tool. Now that I have this IQ rear cam, my vehicle has 360 protection. I can now get an immediate notification if someone approaches from any direction. A few months ago, we were involved in a hit and run. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the rear IQ cam. Had I had the rear cam, it would’ve been so much easier to catch the guy. I knew then that I had to get the rear camera. I’m so happy that I did because it’s extra peace of mind. The camera clarity is great and I’m really happy that I got it. I would highly recommend the IQ rear cam to add to the IQ 4K cam.

Been using the front dash cam for about 7 months and have loved it. If you’re someone who drives a lot or spends a good amount of time in your vehicle then this is something you’re going to want to consider. I haven’t been in an accident with it and hope i never will be! But it offers me peace of mind while I’m driving and is an extra layer of protection I love having. I’ve wanted the rear camera ever since I installed the front camera and I finally have it all setup and have been using it for the past week. I’m in sales so I literally live and work out of my car every single day. I actually wanted the rear camera over the front facing camera because I trust myself driving more than I trust others driving around me. I know I’m much more likely to be rear ended by someone on their phone or not paying attention. Setup and adding this to my existing front facing camera system was simple and quick. Simply put, this works exactly as you’d expect and does what you’d expect. I haven’t had any software issues or problems with the update's. I highly recommend this system and will keep using it!
