A great sequel to the original on PS3. It has been switched from tun based combat to real time, and it is a little on the easy side (though they have patched in a harder mode), but the adventure and the Ghbili aesthetic make up for some of the shortcomings, just like the original.

While so far there are only a few very small hints at ties to the first Ni No Kuni, this game definitely stands on its own. The kingdom-building aspect has been what I've sunk the most time into thus far, but the new locations and characters have been great as well. Combat isn't quite the hassle mechanically that it was in the first game (Familiars have been replaced by support creatures called "Higgledies"), but the new engine does force some of the forested environments to be more open and less vegetated. The animated cutscenes have also taken a big step back, with far fewer vocalized sections instead replaced by text alone in most cases; the charm and quirkiness of the first game is lacking a bit because of this. But overall a solid RPG and highly recommended.

This rpg is pretty to look at. And it controls good. I'm about 5 hours in and the story is just getting started. It's about a prince who is ousted by a coupe. It has a unique leveling up system. I recommend this to any one who like japanese role playing games.

Really nice game, similar style to the first game but with many new systems that add a lot of variety to the game. I especially liked the kingdom building part. The RTS part is a nice surprise as well. Recommended to JRPG fans open to trying something a little different.

I was sad to hear about the large changes from the first game, but the new battle system is for the better. A better story and characters as well, though still not the strongest point of the game. Wish there was more animation like in the first, but it's forgivable.

This game is a breath of fresh air! It feels old school and completely new. The boss battles are different and interesting, the story is great and you get to build your own kingdom and upgrade it! I mean cmon! BUY THIS GAME IF YOU LIKE RPGS!

Do you like Studio Ghibli-like animation? Do you like cute, but not overly complex stories or game mechanics? Then this game is for you! It's charming and fun. Plenty of side content to keep you engaged from the main story if you want it, too.

I sunk 6 hours the first time I loaded the game up. So far, it's a great JRPG, although it may come off as being too easy at times. Combat is fun, and the story is actually quite good. Would recommend if you like the genre.

Was a big fan of the first one. While this ones story is good, it doesn’t shine as much as the original. Where it lacks in story it makes up in gameplay. Battles are fun and lots to do with the castle building mechanics.

I play on a PS4 pro on a 4k TV and it looks great.
There way more reading then voice acting which is a bummer.
The battles can be hard to tell what going on with all the characters and action on screen but it still fun.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom has been a great game so far as I've played it. The kingdom building is addicting, and the change to more real-time combat is a breath of fresh air compared to the limited nature of the first game.

I love every anime created by this director. Really amazing story line. Many techniques to fight your enemies. Cons: the game is too simple through out your adventure. Another word, not really an opening world adventure.

Great combat and the kingdom building mechanics make it truly unique. The story is passable and full of groan moments (groanents) but all in all this game is wonderful. I'm 20 hours in and am not even halfway done.

Ni No Kuni II is an action-RPG with fast-paced combat that is reminiscent of the Tales series. Many new features were added such as kingdom building and skirmish battles. Action-RPG fans should like this game.

The game builds up on what the first game did really well on: great graphics, solid story and exciting gameplay. No more familiars, but the addition of the higgledy piggledies was a nice touch!

Incredible game with these stunning Ghibli-studio graphics-like.
The story is for sure a high point, along with the gameplay with elements of JRPG mixed with hack n slash features.

This story was good, characters enjoyable and building your kingdom is fun. They recycled to many enemies so you ran into to many versions of the same enemy and that was disappointing.

I loved how rich, beautiful, detailed and special the first ni no kuni felt, and ni no kuni 2 is no different. For example, items can be saved for assorted quests, spent to level weapons, armor or even higgledies (cute elementals that help you in battle). Many of the people you meet along the way will join your kingdom and help build your town, or even your armies. The more you do, the more you get, and I'm loving it.
The one downside is that every so often the game slightly stutters (maybe once every couple hours, and it's simply an animation glitch that doesn't affect much.
Overall a great game and I would highly recommend it
