I loved this lens, but it did not auto focus on my camera. I have a nikon d3000, which is a very entry level slr. I loved the lens when I could focus it properly, but I returned the lens because I needed something with auto for when I need to take a quick picture.

Best prices This is a sharp, lightweight lens, that takes 52 mm filters (the standard small Nikon since the 1950's#. It's also cheap, the cheapest lens that Nikon makes, so it's a great value. The aperture ring also ensures that it will work with manual focus cameras, such as the FM-10 that Nikon still sells today, so it's great for anybody in the market for that, as well.

This is my favourite lens to use and is the best bang for your buck. I find pictures at f/1.8 a little too soft for me, but this lens really shines stopped down. If you're using a crop body it can be a bit too tight a focal length at times, but I would not pass it up unless you're using a D3X00/D5X00 body (it won't autofocus with those bodies).

I love this lens, and I love the price. It's pretty easy to use, and the photos I have taken with this lens are amazing. The only problem I have had, is I can't seem to get auto focus to work with my Nikon D3200. Otherwise, this is a great lens and I would recommend.

This lense is exactly what I needed. It is a much better option if your Nikon as the drive pin for autofocusing; this eliminates the need to have that feature in the lense. Since the autofocusing 1.8G is about twice the price difference of the 1.8D, there is no way to justify the added expense if your camera does the work. The 1.8D has excellent control and you can get a very shallow depth-of-field. It is basic, but the quality is, well, Nikon quality. And that's great. The service at Best Buy was excellent. I wish I had the names of the employees who helped me out. The inventory showed a zero count for the lenses at Nashua, NH location. The employees were relentless in finding a new one that had not yet been inventoried.

Great price for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend it though, only because the lens has only one purpose, which is a close up focused photo. There is no zoom, but the low F stop is amazing. It’s great, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

This 50mm lens is considered a "normal" lens on your full frame camera. It is small, light, cheap, sturdy, and very very fast and sharp. Because of its focal length it works very well with flash. If you have a camera like a d610, d750, d810 etc. you need this lens.

This is a great prime lens. First, it's a Nikon, which means high optical performance & high quality construction. This lens works on all of my Nikon cameras - from my 1980's Nikon FM2n (FX), my 2000 Nikon N90s(FX) to my Nikon D7200 (DX) & my Nikon 750 (FX). It's autofocus is fast & accurate. The images are superb, even wide open. It is a must have normal lens for FX format cameras & an excellent long-normal, short-telephoto value for DX format. With DX format it makes a very good portrait lens allowing you to blur the background (BOKEH) which makes your subject more prominent. Versatile, fast, & a true bargain.

New to having a DSLR and all, but I like the versatility of taking low light photo's without the harsh lighting that can come with using a flash, which is the main reason I purchased this lens. So far I'm very pleased with it. I haven't used it as much yet as I would like, but what I have used it for I've been very happy with the results. It takes great pictures, and you can't beat the price.

I was excited to get this lens because I really wanted to have a low aperture. 1.8 is great. If I was to buy the 1.4, it would be a lot more money for darn near the same thing. It was worth it's money. I have produced some great pics. It is difficult to focus. You have to focus yourself, it won't automatically focus for you. But don't let that turn you down, it is a great lens to have.

Nice inexpensive prime lens for nephew's Nikon. Price better than on some aftermarket lenses. At 1.8 a few stops faster than kit lens that came with camera. Manual f stop so you understand explorer and aperture speed in relation to f stop. A great leaning tool.
