Customers are saying

Customers regard the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Standard Lens highly for its image quality, affordability, and performance in low-light conditions. Many found it easy to use, and appreciated its lightweight design. However, some users noted challenges with the manual focus mechanism, particularly its speed. The lens's value proposition is strongly emphasized in customer feedback.

This lense is better than I was anticipating. Pictures show so much detail. Wish I would have bought this when I purchased my D3200. Can do close up pictures and semi-long distance shots.

Excellent high quality lens. You can definitely tell the difference in pictures. The key is understanding how to use the manual aspects.

Light weight and super sharp - takes 52mm filters along with some of my other lenses. Great for family videos too - autofocus is very quick and can't beat the price!

Works really well for nearby set shots with the kids or for standard picture taking. We're very novice photographers but found this very easy to use well quickly.

I love this lens, and I love the price. It's pretty easy to use, and the photos I have taken with this lens are amazing. The only problem I have had, is I can't seem to get auto focus to work with my Nikon D3200. Otherwise, this is a great lens and I would recommend.

This lense is exactly what I needed. It is a much better option if your Nikon as the drive pin for autofocusing; this eliminates the need to have that feature in the lense. Since the autofocusing 1.8G is about twice the price difference of the 1.8D, there is no way to justify the added expense if your camera does the work. The 1.8D has excellent control and you can get a very shallow depth-of-field. It is basic, but the quality is, well, Nikon quality. And that's great. The service at Best Buy was excellent. I wish I had the names of the employees who helped me out. The inventory showed a zero count for the lenses at Nashua, NH location. The employees were relentless in finding a new one that had not yet been inventoried.

This is a great prime lens. First, it's a Nikon, which means high optical performance & high quality construction. This lens works on all of my Nikon cameras - from my 1980's Nikon FM2n (FX), my 2000 Nikon N90s(FX) to my Nikon D7200 (DX) & my Nikon 750 (FX). It's autofocus is fast & accurate. The images are superb, even wide open. It is a must have normal lens for FX format cameras & an excellent long-normal, short-telephoto value for DX format. With DX format it makes a very good portrait lens allowing you to blur the background (BOKEH) which makes your subject more prominent. Versatile, fast, & a true bargain.

solid prime lens for Nikon FX

This is a high quality prime lens for a Nikon DSLR FX (full size sensor) body. It is the equivalent of a 75MM fixed focus lens on a DX body (I shoot a D7000), so don't expect to get wide angle shots. However, the resolution is very high and chromatic aberration is very low, even on a DX camera. You can't beat the price and this lens is ideal for super high res portrait photography. I love the f1.8 maximum aperture and focus is very fast and accurate.
