Customers are saying

Customers regard the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D Standard Lens highly for its image quality, affordability, and performance in low-light conditions. Many found it easy to use, and appreciated its lightweight design. However, some users noted challenges with the manual focus mechanism, particularly its speed. The lens's value proposition is strongly emphasized in customer feedback.

This lens is perfect for any beginner who wants to learn how to work with the different settings within the camera. Everything is manual so you will be responsible for focus, shutter speeding, ISO and aperture.

I like the way it has included the distance scale so that you can use the hyperfocal distance technique to make your pictures as sharp as possible. It has a great fstop so it is good in low light conditions.

Very good beginning lens for Dx camera . Be aware it only works for certain cameras. It's really good for low light shooting , such as indoor. Actually it's the first time I got some good pics from in door shooting.

This lens has been around a long time. Every bag should have one. Its light, very fast and you can't beat it for the price. Sorry, it doesn't zoom. you'll have to........move back and forth to frame the subject. You can probably use the exercise.

The focal length made this a perfect camera to shoot photos of my artwork. I kept having problems using both zoom lenses that came with the camera, but this lens did the trick.

Purchased this lens knowing that it did not have auto-focus. It is being used by my daughter in conjunction with her Nikon D3300. Quality is great and the F1.8 aperture allows her to take portrait and scenic shots in lower light situations. She has been enjoying photography for two years now and is having all kinds of fun learning how to use her camera (and new lens) in full manual mode.

I am a beginner in photography. Doing it more as a hobby. I originally ally bought my Nikon with a lens (18-55mm) it worked well but wanted a better focus and to able to take low light photos this lens has helped me accomplish that ! I am still looking for another lens that is good for night photos but this one is great for more of a portrait scene.

Best prices This is a sharp, lightweight lens, that takes 52 mm filters (the standard small Nikon since the 1950's#. It's also cheap, the cheapest lens that Nikon makes, so it's a great value. The aperture ring also ensures that it will work with manual focus cameras, such as the FM-10 that Nikon still sells today, so it's great for anybody in the market for that, as well.

I bought this to shoot my son's basketball games. I couldn't afford one of those super zooms with 2.8 and even with high ISO on my zoom its near impossible to get great indoor basketball shots. Since I am able to get fairly close to the action this worked great! You can't beat the price and results. Doesn't look sexy but who cares!!

This lens does its job and take stunning photos, focusing on the subject and blurring the background. It was everything i needed except its completely manual focus. Tried to make it work for a while but it became too tedius getting the correct focus. Especially not good when in a rush to take a photo of a passing scene. Also, i find myself needing to stand quite far from the subject when taking a picture.

This is the best lens for everything! Love taking portraits with it, and have played around with pets and food. The shutter speed is great, and when taking pictures at around 7:30-8ish (a little past sunset) the pictures were still bright and nice! I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a versatile lens.

I use this on my D7500 as I like to shoot at 70 - 80mm; this lens is equivalent to a 75mm on a full frame camera. Fantastic pictures -- as good as or better than my 35mm DX prime lens. I have learned very quickly that fixed focal length lenses are far superior to zooms.
