I'm not a great photographer but this lens certainly helps! If you've ever wondered how people take those professional looking pictures with the blurred background, the right lens makes all the difference.
I bought my D90 a few years ago and have been happy with the zoom lens it came with. On the suggestion of a friend, I got this 50mm lens and been very happy with the quality photos it takes. The only drawback, if any, is getting use to physically moving back and forth to get the subject of my photos framed the way I like (unlike a zoom), other than that, I would highly recommend this product.

I purchased this Nikon lens for my son who likes to photograph automobiles indoors. This lens performs better than expected, taking pictures in less lit areas.

Very good beginning lens for Dx camera . Be aware it only works for certain cameras. It's really good for low light shooting , such as indoor. Actually it's the first time I got some good pics from in door shooting.

It takes great pictures but doesn’t have auto mode and sometimes your pic comes out not so great so everytime you take a pic you have to adjust the zoom if you are just taking pics of the objects it’s great but if you are taking pics of kids running around I recommend go for a S model which has auto feature and is $100 more

I purchased this lens for an upcoming wedding. I have a Nikon D3300 camera and this lens doesn't auto focus on a DX camera. I read the reviews and decided to try it anyway. I'm not a huge fan, so I returned it and got the one with AF.

This is my first ever prime lens, and i love it. It takes some getting used to, because you can only use the camera in manual mode, and have to make all adjustments yourself. But once you get the hang of it, the photos come out amazing, and getting that perfect picture just feels that much better.

The Nikkor 50mm F/1.8 AF lens is a good lens for night photography or low light picture taking. But make sure that your camera can use it in auto mode, if not you will have to use it in manual only.
My advise would be to buy a lens that is fully automatic, that way the camera does all the work and you can enjoy just snapping the pictures.
