One has to be very careful purchasing this type of Nikon lens, they are not uniformly interchangeable on Nikon cameras even if it fits the camera body. Have Nikon D5000 and electrically incompatible. Returned it.

First off, Best Buy is slipping. Both the "knowledgeable" person and the actual Best Buy website say that this lens will work on a Nikon D3200. Good thing we looked online and after narrowing down the search from products, to cameras and lenses, then even down to the my wife's camera the D3200, it should have been a no brainer on what lenses worked on it because the website has it supposedly figured out for you. She's wanted a longer lens to use at football games when our daughter is cheering. Well I found this lens, had her look at it, and we both agreed that it seemed like a good purchase for us. So what do I do, go to Best Buy after work tonight and look at it. I was skeptical. For $399, I wasn't 100% sure myself if it would work on our camera. An associate came up to me and talked to me about it. Seemed like a smart guy. He even looked it up himself to make sure it would work. I listened and went ahead and bought the lens. Now I take it home and give it to my wife and shes happy at first. She goes outside with the lens on the camera. Tries to take pictures with it and it won't focus. We mess with it for an hour. Now she's mad and I'm the fool. Now I get on the internet and do some real research. I go to the Nikon website. Low and behold they have a listing for this very same lens and guess what it says. It's not "compatible" with the D3200. Even goes into enough detail to say that the lens fits on the camera and can be looked through on the camera but it will be out of focus and you can not adjust the focus. So, thank you Best Buy. I look like a fool for listening. YOU look like you are clueless on this website and at the store level for lack of product knowledge. This might be the last time you get my business because of the lack of knowledge at the store level.

    Broken out of Box

Nikon has always made good stuff, but this was broken out of the box and we were told by a Best Buy Employee that the A/F function would work on my wife's D5100 camera. Had to return the lens to the store and they did not have another in stock. This was disappointing to us as we were going to my Daughter's Marine Corp Boot Camp Graduation and we wanted to get pictures form the parade stands. Won't buy a lens from Best buy again we will go to a camera store and verify in the store

The lens is great for long distances. The only thing I don’t like is the aperture at long focus.
