Great Macro Lens for a DX Camera Body

This is an excellent dx lens for any of the Nikon dx camera bodies. There is no substitute for the 10mm end and the zoom to 24mm allows you to get just the right shot no matter the subject. Forget the fisheye lenses and get this one. Forget the 12-24mm because you're buying a macro to shoot at the widest opening so you'll eventually regret not getting this one. Build quality is solid and the glass is Nikon glass which is both clear and crisp. This lens will hold its value for years to come and will fit Nikon camera bodies of the future. Highly recommend getting the Nikon brand neutral filter to go along with this.

Still getting used to the wide angle aspect. The greatness of this lens really shows up when shooting in wide open areas. Heading out west in a few weeks can't wait to try it out in Arizona and Utah.

Outstanding lens for taking scenic photography. Nothing is left out of the picture. My first Ultra-Wide Zoom Lens, and one of the best lenses I've ever used.

This is a great wide angle zoom lens for the price. Although this is a DX lens, it works well on my Nikon D810. I use it primarily for real estate property when I really need that wide angle view that my other lenses don't cover. Now this is not a pro lens. Don't expect the same quality or build as the gold ring lenses. It does feel plasticky and light, but don't think for a second the glass isn't clear, clean and sharp. I am very impressed with this lens. My clients are very happy with the pics I provide and if it didn't preform well I wouldn't get the jobs. This lens does take some time to understand how it works, it's limitations and strengths. 10-24mm can really distort what you're photographing. This could be an artistic choice or a nightmare if you're unfamiliar with the curves associated with this lens at it's widest angles. I've attached two pics I took with the lens at 10mm. If you're looking for a great wide angle zoom, then this is a great buy! Play with it, see what it does, get familiar with its capabilities and have fun with big foregrounds and extending your depth on the background.

I did a tremendous amount of research on wide-angle lens is prior to the purchase. I opted to spend the money on this high-quality lens as opposed to the less expensive alternatives. My first use was on a trip to Nevada, California and Arizona. The lens takes amazing panoramic pictures. We visited the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon and The Hoover Dam. The pictures are fabulous.

Fell-apart in under a month with light use. after 2 weeks lens would wiggle while zooming in or out. a week later the lens separated at the focus ring while changing lenses.

    Panoramic Perfection

I love, love, love this lens! To-date, it remains the most expensive lens I've ever purchased, and worth every penny. Almost every photo is razor-sharp, and that's before post-processing. The picture I've included was shot on 2015-06-07 at Lake Harriett in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It includes dozens of square miles of sky, the Lake Harriett band shell, and the entire Minneapolis skyline... best of all, this was shot at 24mm-- imagine how much more could have been included at 10mm? If you're looking for the lens that will get 200 people together at a family reunion in one shot, capture a 900 foot cruise ship, or photograph the entire Empire State Building there are many lenses that will do it... but if you're looking to take that shot without having to walk backwards hundreds of feet and still bring in the image crisply, this is a great choice. I cannot recommend the 18-24mm highly enough!

    My favorite lens

This is by far my favorite Nikkor lens of the five I own. It shouldn’t be the first lens you purchase to start your kit (that would be the incredibly versatile 18-200, or better yet 18-300), but it will open up your photographic possibilities if you can save up for it. This lens is solidly built and creates crisp, beautiful images (online research shows less distortion at the extremes than other lens brands). 10mm might not seem that much more significant than 12mm or 14mm, but trust me - it is. While I got this lens partially for landscapes, where it really shines is capturing the whole scene and telling a more complete story when photographing kids interacting or small interior spaces. If you’re like me, you want to capture as much of the narrative as possible, and you can always crop later in your editing software. This lens definitely allows you to add energy and real estate to your shots. Just be aware that, like all wide-angle lenses, you will get some perspective distortion if you shoot at an angle (from above, below, or very close to your subject). Used intentionally, though, this can create some fun and unique photos. Also, you will want to invest in a flash that mounts to your camera, as the built-in flash does not sit high enough and will cast a shadow. Overall, a solid investment! I absolutely love this lens.

    Amazing Ultra-Wide Angle

Pros - The lens is very sharp, very wide, and ghost/flares are rarely an issue!! So, no complaints there. Cons- However, it does have a hefty dose of distortion when zoomed the whole way out. Also, doesn't feel very durable - I'm worried if I drop it it's going to shatter into a million pieces. Recommendation: I would say this is a perfect ultra-wide for hobbyists & enthusiasts (affordable and will give you a professional look). I use it primarily for real estate and landscapes; it works exceptionally well for both. The sharpness helps a lot, the distortion is easily corrected in DxO module, and I never have to worry about ghosts or flares. Conclusion: If you're looking for an affordable ultra-wide lens for your DX; I'd say this is absolutely, hands down your best bet.

I had read professional reviews that the durability was not quite great. However, after using it on a recent trip to the north east coast, it will be one of the lens that will accompany me all of the time. The first time I used it, I got the WOW reaction. I was able to go to museums and get a complete image standing only 10 feet away from the display. Landscape photos were just as breathtaking. I had purchased a filter to protect the lens, but I found my shots were so much clearer sans filter. Unless you really need a filter, the Nikon lens cover is just fine. It is definitely worth the price if you really want true wide angle shots. I am shooting with a Nikon D7100, and am pleased with both products. I gave it 4 stars because it looks cheap. But, after using it, what matters is the shot. The quality of the shot makes up for the appearance of the lens. I highly recommend this lens.

Ive had it for about a week. So far I love it. It gets so many things in the shot it is ridiculous. The first day I kept going from 18 to 10mm just to see the difference; I was surprised every time. Ive noticed that if the item isn't close the majority of the time the lens focuses on infinity or around that. If the item is close (1-3 feet away) it'll focus away from infinity. The sense works great in low light with no moving objects though I haven't tried it with moving objects (people) in low light. So far this lens is great. I will continue to feel it out. If i see something I don't like I will edit this post!

This is a great lens and I am very happy with purchase. Note: if you think you're going to need to use flash, remember to use/buy a hot-shoe attached speed-light. This is due to the built-in flash being too low to get around the wide barrel of this lens (even without the hood attached)... resulting in a large shadow in the frame.

If you are looking for a wide angle option with some variability, this is your ticket. I have used it both indoor and out. I found the low light to be very good. Very little distortion at the edges.
