If you like to travel this is what u need, don’t think twice
•I looked at a lot of lenses before settling on this new Nikkor 18-300, and I must say I'm very pleased with the choice. The lens is compact but has a great zoom range. The main reason I desired to buy it is because is perfect to travel you don’t need to Carrier so many lens to get the shot you want. So far i love this Len and most importantly I’m ready for my coming up trip.
(I leave you with some photos taken with the on “300mm” )

I bought this lens because I wanted something lighter than my f2.8 glass. Check out the reviews, the lens is a bit soft at either end, but I managed to use it to do some astrophotography, and was successful! It is also my first VR lens, so that helps a bit. Mid-range focal lengths around f8 are best. If you have a camera with good low light capabilities you should be able to push this lens a little more, otherwise it really is a daylight lens. I dropped a star because the focus ring has no indicators. Not a problem during the day, but at night - you may not be able to focus. My solution was to focus on infinity during the day, then I could take some star shots.

I purchased this because I needed a quality zoom that was not too heavy. I had a 70-200 Waterproof zoom that was too heavy specifically for low light action pictures. This one has a better zoom and is much lighter in weight. It focuses easy and quickly. It is not waterproof, but I know it and will not use it in the rain. It is more expensive that a few others I tried, but it focuses better in low light action pictures, which is important to me.
I would recommend this lens.

Nikon 18-300mm Telephoto Zoom Lens

This is the less expensive Nikon 18-300mm Telephoto Zoom Lens. I bought it to use with my Nikon D5500 camera when it was on sale (rarely). I believe the more expensive lens has one stop better which gives more lighting. I take a lot of hummingbird photos and this lens seems to be fine....giving me crisp sharp photos. We all know how fast hummingbirds are but I am very pleased with the outcome. Would probably prefer the other lens for the extra stop for better lighting but lucky most my photos are taken outdoors with good natural light. I believe the other lens also has better optics but without comparing the two, I would say this lens is very good and lighter in weight. This is also about $400 less expensive.

First, I was pleasantly surprised how sharp the photos were and how good the color transmission is. The autofocus works well and the lens is quite light for such a substantial zoom range. Also, this 18-300 is able to get pretty close which I find useful in my work (horticulture). I bought it one day on a whim and it worked so well I decided to keep it.

I bought this camera lens as I do a great deal of hiking and backpacking.. I was looking for a lens that would give me a broad range without the hassle of carrying other lenses or having to switch lenses when that perfect picture moment arises and you inevitably have the wrong lens on the camera. It is lighter then the stock lens that came with the camera and I am happy with the durability thus far. As with any lens that has such a broad range the quality of sharpness is slightly diminished at each extreme of the lens. Although unless you have a trained eye you will barely notice this. Great picture quality. Very happy with my purchase.

Bought the 18-300 for one lens for all occasions. Love the lock feature that avoids the lens slipping into telephoto. So far..no complaints! I always buy Nikon lenses for the quality.

Purchased this lens about a month ago. So far it is the only lens I've been using. It's a great all-around lens. What's great about it is that you do not have to change lenses all the time. You can use it for long distance shots as well as short distance shots. Very convenient.

The lens is best for intermediate photographers who just want a whole range of photo captures. who won't have the patience to change lens everytime. For the casual trips and occasions where you can cover everything with one lens.
My experiece has been good with this one. There is another lens similar to this one. I am not sure how different they are in performance, the 18-300/3.5-5.6g is a bigger one. Some say it gives a better clarity of images. It is priced at 100$ more than this. You should check reveiws for that as well and decide.

As always Nikon has surpassed the mark . Crystal clear images at Any focal length and auto focus worked without a snag. Can't beat genuine Nikon quality. Well worth the cost as it replaces several lenses.

Bought this for my old Nikon D3200 and it has given the camera new life. Image quality is noticeably better than either of the kit lenses. The 18-300 range also means you can shoot all day with this lens. Also, I decided to invest in this and stay with the DX lenses, as I am considering upgrading to the D7500 soon, which will allow me to use this lens with either camera. I considered going full frame, but for an amateur photographer, this does everything I need it to.

This lens is a very versatile lens that works especially well for travel photography. I don't need to lug around some heavier and more expensive lenses anymore. This lens does it all in a compact size. It balances well with a DSLR and feels rather solid. It's optical quality is very good, though not that of much higher end lenses. For my purposes, as an avid enthusiast, it works quite well. Would I like super sharp optics? Sure. But this lens is a good all-around lens.

I purchased this lense for my fiancée. He got into photography recently. He likes Nikon products. The lense does its job. He takes it on his hikes with him.I say the pictures he takes with this lense is great for him being a beginner.
