We planned a summer trip to Alaska and wanted to slim down all of our camera and video gear, both for ease of use and weight restrictions. We attended a series of photography classes at the Best Buy Minnetonka, MN location and brought the above concerns up to our instructor, Sean. He recommended that we purchase this lens because it would replace our two separate close-up and telephoto lenses. This was such an amazing recommendation! We feel very confident that we would have missed many of the wildlife encounters if we had to switch between lens based on distance.

This is a wonderful lenses, although a touch on the heavy side, if that is a concern. After years of hauling around a variety of different lenses, this gives me the ability to leave them all at home, and just carry one camera and one lenses. This is a bright lens, and works well in low light conditions. I had wanted to move up to a 300mm lens to capture photos at sporting events, and this was a great pick. Note that it does not come with a lens hood or storage pouch. You might consider bundling them in if you're buying this online. Would have been five stars if it was a touch lighter and included the expected extras.

I love the ability to take pics close up and far away without having to change out the lens. Makes pics whIle on vacation and traveling much easier and less time consuming.

great lens to travel with, just got back from Nevada used it in the national parks and I was able to get close up as well as great landscape photos.

This lens has excellent zoom and is exactly what I was expecting. I'm able to capture quality photos in detail from a distance.

This camera lens is very helpful in producing the best possible pictures. The zoom quality is fantastic. It allows you to zoon in clearly on any item within the photo.

This lens was purchased to use on my D5500 while we were traveling. It is everything we had expected: convenient (no need to swap lenses to cover various zoom ranges), sharp focusing, and good performance even in low light conditions. With today's sensors (and with the D5500 in auto-ISO mode) we got wonderful images indoors as well as at outdoor locations. Recommended to everyone!!!

I love my new 300 zoom lens. I no longer have to switch out between two lens attachments. It was a great price also.

Bought this for a trip to San Diego, and was pleased with my first use. There is a little fuzziness out at 300, and pics were not as sharp as I had hoped. Up close and in the mid-range this is a great compromise when you are pressed for space while traveling.

Versatile camera that can be taken anywhere. The zoom can be used with the same clarity as the wide angle part of the lens. My go to lens!

The price was right. I sold my 18-200 for 325 and that made my new lens cost only 374 for the upgrade. Now all I need todo is upgrade my firm ware to take care of the distortion that the lens has.

Bought this lens for a trip to Alaska, didn’t want to take multiple lenses. Married nicely to my Nikon DX camera. Auto focus worked well, very little aberration, easily corrected with editing. Love the focal range 18-300mm (35mm equivalent 28-450mm). Reasonable price.

Good product. Easy to use. Needed a lens for both wide angle and zoom at the same time. And that lens is perfect for that
