    Excellent Prime Lens

This is an excellent prime lens that lets you capture great family photos. Its a great pair if you have the 50mm also. This lens however does not have the cropped portrait look that the 50 has, but has a wider area of view for family shots and panoramics. The lens has very good bokeh at 1.8 through 2.8.

For its cross between price and usage, its a great choice. I picked it up as the main lens for my camera as a simple standard short lens.

Every photographer, regardless of the brand of camera, should have a 35mm lens. It's so versatile and there's something about it that brings the nostalgia of film cameras too.

This is a great lens for taking portraits, it’s AF and has a wonderful depth of field. Not a zoom lens if you’re a beginner. It’s set at 50mm. Great for a beginner since has auto focus but excellent all-around for any skill level, also has a manual function. They don’t call it a “Nifty Fifty” for no reason.

Great quality lens. A little zoomed in look but if you stand far enough youll get the whole image in view and it will be extremely sharp.

This is a great lens at a great price. I wanted a faster lens to get some nice depth of field on my nikon d5200 and this was a great choice. There is little difference between f1.4 and f1.8 for most applications and saving $200 by going f1.8 instead of f1.4 won't disappoint.

If I were only taking one lens with me this would be the one! The small size, lightweight, lens makes the camera easy to handle and transport. The lens performs well indoors, outdoors, low light, as well as while using a flash. Shooting at 1.8 the images really look nice and sharp on the subject with a blurred effect on all other areas. Love it A+

I purchased this lens for product photography and I loved the pictures it produced! I plan to use it in my other photography ventures as I am very pleased with how it captures the subjects and the positioning. Terrific!

I absolutely love this lens. The images are very sharp. Due to it being a fixed length lens, I have had to focus more on my picture composition and focal points. That is a good thing, as it has helped me understand more about HOW to take a great picture. Note: On a crop sensor camera, this lens is like shooting a 50mm on a full frame or film.

This is a fine "normal view" prime lens. Good in low light, ability to keep shutter speed high - really very versatile. Throw this on your camera instead of the 18-55 kit and you'll take MUCH better pictures, and you can get more creative with your eyes and feet instead of zooming.

Great lens for not a lot of money. Use this lens for portraits, macro, and landscapes, haven't removed it since putting it on. Great bokeh in portraits, just what I was looking for without the high price tag. I would recommend this lens to any beginner or hobbyist.

I also would check reviews on this particular lens and was skeptic to buy it. But after I bought it, I won’t use any other lens. The quality of my videos and pictures have never been the same. Way better now!!! I highly recommend this lens.

Overall I think this is a great first lens after a kit lens. Gives you much sharper images and really encourages you to become a better photographer, professional or enthusiast. You'll appreciate your shots that much more knowing you had to work a littler harder and get a little closer for them.

There are many reviews on this lens you can find online. I will echo what they all say. This is a fantastic lens at a great price. This is not a zoom lens. It is a prime lens. It is very fast and performs very well in low light. It is a great first lens to buy after you get a camera. Highly recommended.

I haven't changed lenses since I got this one. Super fast focus, crystal clear pictures. The lack of zoom can be challenging, but it forces you to move your feet/body to get the shot instead of the lens. The end result is better pictures, and you actually learning how to take better pictures.
